`Republican$ are always saying that they hate"Big Government". What they really mean is that they hate government regulation.Keep in mind that Republican$ don't work for you. They only work for BILLIONARES, CORPORATIONS& WALL STREET. They want to destroy MEDICARE because then they can give that money to the insurance co's. They want to destroy social security so they can give that money to Wall Street firms. They want to destroy UNIONS so that everybody makes minimum wage (like in Texas).
Thanks to liberal policy the world economy is crashing. We must do two things to stop the meltdown NOW!!! Firstly, we need to raise all payroll taxes 10% for one year. We also need to stop (right now) wasteful handout programs like medicare, social security, unemployment,, etc. and lower the minimum wage to $2/hr so we can compete with China. I will work with Paul Ryan and my other republican colleagues and take immediate action on these proposals. God bless the GOP!
I've been talking up Perry recently, feeling he'd be pretty serviceably decent as President, despite his lack of brilliance. But now that your resolve is getting uneasy, now that you're feeling too urged, PLEASE RUN. Nobody has a mind like yours. So we won't be several towns apart anymore, cozy geographical neighbors. So the rest of your life will be more or less exile. The greatest man should have the greatest office. PLEASE RUN.
Ryan needs to stop drinking that Ayn Rand Kool-Aid.
Rand was an atheist. Gotta love those "pious" Republicans who worship the rich even tho Jesus said it is harder for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Clearly, Republican hypocrites have much more in common with Rand the atheist than with Jesus.
When Republicans are in power they spend like drunken sailors. Check out Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II. But when a Democrat is in power, trying to clean up the mess Republicans left, all they talk about is balancing the budget. What utter hypocrites! They have no sincere convictions -- just a lust for power.

@Warp2567 Your comments solidify my point exactly. You blame the banks rather than yourself or the average individual. Take responsibility for your own actions people. I haven't had a credit card in over 3 years and oddly enough I haven't borrowed any money during that same time period and have been completely debt free. This really odd thing has happened since I stopped borrowing money. I actually have money because I don't give all my income to the banks and credit card companies.
@runtimmytimer How do my comments solidfy your point when you said, and I quote: "he (Paul Ryan) is not dealing with the REAL problem. That problem is Americans are too irresponsible and choose to not plan for their financial future." He in fact IS trying to deal with that problem. Just like I said before, he is talking about the nation as whole when he says: "we're spending so much more money than we have".
@rororhythm There is enough blame to go around for everyone.....if we had a dollar for everytime MCconnell, Boehnor or Cantor lied, then we wouldn't need to repeal the Bush Tax Cuts, we could just use their "lying money" to help pay off some of the debt!
@rororhythm Actually, cutting the Bush Tax cuts will save us about 4 TRILLION dollars over the next 10 yrs......if we cut them, and if my math serves me correctly that is about 1/4 of our total debt......now there is fraud and abuse in Medicare, Medicade and SS, and we need to get rid of that, but do not cut the benefits because that is the ONLY means of income for many seniors and disabled....And as far as "ignorant rhetoric" is concerned you mentioned a guillotine.....now how IGNORANT is that
@rororhythm But there is a "song and dance" going on on both sides of the aisle.......Speaker Boehnor knew that his bill wouldn't get passed in the Senate.....and Senate Leader Reed knows that his bill would not get passed in the house.....
The President doesn't have to have a plan Mr. Ryan.....he is the "executive branch" of the goverment! He has VETO POWER, he can take the best of both worlds (Senate and House of Representatives). Eliminate the Bush Tax cuts and out of Iraq and Alphghanistan......that would save us ALOT of money; leave Medicare, Medicade and SS alone......
Here's an idea. How about American's start taking care of themselves rather than worshiping at the alter of the almighty congressman. What I disagree with Congressman Ryan is he's not dealing with the REAL problem. That problem is Americans are too irresponsible and choose to not plan for their financial future. Let's look into ways to incentivize people to take care of themselves.
@runtimmytimer what you fail to realize though is when Paul Ryan said that "we're spending so much more money than we have", he's not just talking about our government. He's talking about the entire nation. He does agree that America has a whole is too irresponsible when it comes to spending more than we have. Take that complaint up to the banks and lenders. They are the real crooks who drive our economy down!
Thanks to liberal policies America can no longer afford to pay for medicare, social security, unemployment and many other services. We also need to lower the minimum wage to $2/hr in order to compete with China and bring jobs back home. Fiscally responsible conservatives like Paul Ryan and Michele Bachmann know this and are currently
working to end these wasteful handout programs and bring the minimum wage down so that America can be great again. God bless the GOP!
I will say you are quick to the point, but provide nothing more in support of your argument than what a teenager would. "Utter fail!" is a nice retort but does not particularly answer the question in any meaningful way...
@Oranje101 Ok....here I go; the man is a joke. That Paul Ryan budget plan is a waste of paper.........Cut , Cap and balance is exactly where it needs to be.....stalled out on the Senate Floor!
The past two administrations spending us into austerity is alot better than actually tackling these problems now though. That way, in ten years the then retiring seniors will have to take the hit, instead of having the cuts phased in. If that sounds good to you, then by all means, let's throw cuts to the wind...
@Oranje101 still have time to make changes that would not affect retiring seniors. GOP must agree to closing loopholes and Dems must agree to lower rates for small biz.. Slowly increase age for SS, and means test for medicare. The wealthy will pay more for services and subsidize the less wealthy. Repeal obamacare give everyone a HSA or similar high deductible health insurance account. Voucher the HSA for the poor and let people take control of their own insurance.
Well, one administration (Obama) is trying to reverse the bad policys of the previous administration (Bush)....I know some may not like it, but I think if we're going to get unemployment down, bring our debt down then there is ONE THING our goverment can do......create jobs, jobs and more jobs! More jobs mean more taxes (revenue for the local, state and FEDERAL goverment) which hopefully in turn will be used to bring our debt down. Allow the Bush tax cuts to expire......get out of 2 wars......
You keep talking about getting deeper into debt. You're absolutely right. But it is going to take less spending and more revenue. We need to end the tax cuts for the rich-and I don't consider those who make $250k/year rich. I mean the really rich. Stop giving them tax breaks; end the loopholes, in addition to cutting spending. Both sides have to give in and stop using the American people as a political football. If we can't fix this we will all lose.
@benvye, tax cuts bring MORE revenue. Historically the REVENUE is an average of 18.5% of GDP, no matter how much you tax. So you must bring up the economy in order to increase revenue.
Taxes are just a percentage. If you decrease the percentage, it takes the brakes off the economy and brings MORE revenue. We need to stop spending more than we can possibly take from people. We're borrowing 188 million every hour. We have about 120 trillion in debt if you include unfunded liabilities.
I'm considered legally blind. I get SSI and Social Security, less than $800 a month. I survive and I do what I can to make it. I am in college to become an Assistive Technology Specialist, I train people who are disabled to use special devices and software to use computers and the internet for employment.. I want to work, I want success. Not everyone on public assistance is bad. If you want people like me off the "dole" then fix the damn economy so I can find a job.
@evilfreethinker I am with you there ... Fix the economy so jobs will be produced and we can get back to work... and also find a way to bring manufactuing and technical jobs back to America, we cannot allow companies like GE to move them to China and Korea and still survive.

It's a shame that this speech only belongs to the internet. Why doesn't the major news agencies report this instead of 15 minutes about a British newspaper kingpin getting a pie in the face. If all of the Americans heard this, there would be real change for the good.
@FrankQ777 Thank several of the same Republicans who voted to pass this Bill for voting in the past to raise the debt ceiling and put us where we are now. Funny how things change when party power changes.
I have never seen Mr. Ryan so impassioned. It's great to see him stepping up to the plate and doing what no one else wants to. I'd love to see him formally debate the president on competing budget proposals and solutions to medicare/ medicaid, social security, and the merits of Obama care. If both sides presented their cases head to head, it'd make the choice more clear for America.
@Nokomisclub well, we wont survivi this debt crisis if we are still the world reserve currency. you see its a catch 22 with our monetary sys, the world is willing to lend to us via treasuries because that the safest way to park their USD reserves in their central banks but if we try to cut that supply of treasuries that the world needs; the world reserves liquidity would dry up..just like if we default on aug 2nd. so its damned if you do damed if you dont .....the $ is the world money as well
@Nokomisclub you ever wonder why goods and services are so cheap in the states than in jpn or china? WE EXPORT INFLATION....in turn, domestic demand, driven by cheap free credit and debt.
ex. USD is the metric for all prcing for world commodities and intertrade. in order for japan to buy oil from saudis, toyota must first make the car, sell to US, US basically prints USDs, japan in turn send USDs to saudis for oil, saudis park the USDs in treasuries which give congress a line of credit
@Nokomisclub think about it, this gift was given to us via bretton woods after ww2 and desolved the gold standard under nixon in 71, then we've been abusing the money supply last 40 years til now. so the question i ask over and over, does such a gift of having the ability to print money with no domestic inflation still be had by americans to enjoy? do we deserve to be kings and consume 1/2 the world resources while the rest of the world survives. with this mess....
@Nokomisclub and if the world finally decides to the USD as the world reserve currency, just like the GBP after the ww2 with the british empire. all those USDs and IOUs are coming home to get cashed via skyrocketing interest rates, food and goods inflation, and a debt burden for our kids for generations.
@Nokomisclub yes a default would be inevitable because the country holding the global reserve currency title will eventually have fiscal and trade deficits especially if they are consumption-base and export dependent. we cant play god to the world and be selfless and at the same time be selfish with our domestic issues. doesnt work.
I'm prepared to get banned from the world for this comment. Call me a lousy, worthless, vapid-headed sockdolager --

YES, IT WONT IN 1 YEAR -- BUT IT WILL OVER TIME -- JUST LIKE WE PAID THE WW2 DEBT BY HAVING A PROGRESSIVE TAX RATE FOR YEARS!
