@saffnpepa However I do agree that the song was not written nor performed in 1928 as Dream Theater composed this song for their album entitled Metropolis Part II: Scenes from a Memory in the year 2000 if I'm not mistaken. This is not funtwo's, song it is simply a cover (a remarkable one nonetheless). Please don't post information that you aren't certain of. This song is far from classical. The term overture does not strictly imply classical music but simply a intro piece to a greater work.

@saffnpepa You are quite mistaken on both accounts. An overture is a piece of music that sets the tone for the rest of the suite or for the rest of the work. Many musicals have overtures in the beginning that sample later songs similar to how Overture 1928 samples riffs and melodies from Strange DeJa Vu, The Dance of Eternity, and One Last Time. 1928 IS in fact a year. It is referencing the year in which Victoria (the main character, Tom's, previous incarnation) was tragically murdered.

Well actually, none of the members of Dream Theater have any degree in music... Well, I think Derek Sherinian has a bachelors. But Myung, Petrucci, and Portnoy all dropped out during their first year to focus on Dream Theater, so they don't have a degree. They're Berklee dropouts. They're still amazing though. They're probably better than 99% of Berklee graduates haha.
