Thank you!!! I had never really listened to Albanese before. He is singing Alfredo the way I want that part to be sung. And I love the timbre of his voice - very masculine and alive. He has this flow in the voice that we seldom hear.
I don't particularly care for Albanese; or, rather, I like him more in Neapolitan songs than in opera. Admittedly, I haven't heard him in too many of either. Callas is another story, here in one of her finest and favorite roles. Thanks for sharing this, Mike.
A very pleasant honest voice: the combination with Callas is a bit funny. Her sound and timbre are quite opposite of his. To my (humble) opinion Tebaldi would have been a better match.
I really like the voice of Francesco Albanese. First heard him in FREISCHÜTZ (w. Jurinac and Christoff) as Max and I immediately admired him. His Alfredo sounds very well too. Recently I bought the CD of Armida with a lot of fine tenors opposite Maria Callas. All in one opera. Albanese sang the male leading role.
I think he was one of the best tenors of the 50`s. So was your next RARE VOICE which I guess is that of Giuseppe Campora!

Albanese was amazing and often sang with Maria Callas in her early days. Those two were gold together!

Beautiful.

Danke sehr, Mike!
