if you use metal, then you are pretty much lugging around a iron bar
people are all about portability.
this isnt the 1890s where the idea of portability weighs 70 pounds.
plastic is the only way to keep the laptop light, stylish, and cheap.
yea you could go with the macbook air, durable aluminum, however, the aluminum weighs a bit more. but the hardware and the screen is light so it cancels out the aluminum weight. but the laptop is $1500.
instead of plastic we can use metal but the problem is that metal will heat up instantly as it is a high heat conductor. that's the problem that most recent Pavilion HPs are facing, when you don't here a sound on a normal HP and it's cold, you don't hear any sound with pavlions while there they're at the point of MELTING!
I have a regular 15.4 inch laptop which i have had for 2 years now and the buttom is still in good condition. However recently one of the hinges has vroken and the warranty has onl just run out. ARRRRG damn plastic hinges !!!!!!
I have an aluminum laptop and i love it. My mom had a plastic laptop for her work. Right before she had to turn it in at the end of the year, it did indeed crack, and she had to pay for the repair, she told me to ended up costing her about 150 bucks to repair. So seriously, just screw the plastic laptops. lol.
For one Apple's OS can't run certain programs, certain programs I use.
True, that is why if I were to fork out the money for a computer no better than any other, I would install Windows natively on it, b/c the apps I use aren't made for Apple's OS, and I don't mean Flight Simulator, my CG app, isn't made for OS X.
I have an old Panasonic Toughbook, really thick, ran over by a Hummer and still worked, it's made of metal, but yea, I think they use something like formed aluminum b/c it's both light and strong, it's what firetrucks and airplane skin is made from.
im going to greece on wednesday!.. im only exited for the flight.. im going in a boeing 737-... 800 i think maybe 400 but it's a 4 hour flight.. im going to try my best to get it videod!

Laptops now are too delicate also.
AreaCode090 2 years ago
They need to be made of mag-alloy and then im fine with them being so thin.
MajinFrahma 2 years ago
the perfect laptop is the alienware m15x. not too thin, great for gaming, light, and portable.
