  • lolololol

  • Had a troy built with the same thing. Got my knee quite a few times.

  • I made a mistake- to hear Lynol scream,skip to 1:10.

  • Comment removed

  • mtd the tractor that hurts just to use

  • LOL@ The beeping!

  • I have an MTD like that. They fixed the flaw though

  • DANG THAT WAS A GOOD SIMULATION!!!!!!

  • You know, this could be fixed with two of my favorite tools: A blowtorch and a hammer. Simply bend the rod more towards the steering wheel. :)

  • I found a design flaw in my Poulan 42". They didn't quite mount the gas tank high enough, when you have about 1" to 1 1/2" of gas left in the tank, it's just not enough flow and the engine starts running out of gas. I finally figured it out after putting fresh gas in it, a new fuel filter, new hoses and the problem still wasn't solved. I just put a couple of little blocks of wood under the fuel tank mounts to raise it another 2" and now it runs fine until the tank is bone dry.

  • you think this video was funny enough by itself, enable the captions and set it to transcribe audio...it takes the sense of humor to another level...lol!

  • @shawnr26 transcribe audio, ftw! ((- anger -))

  • Best video EVER!!

  • It's a conspiracy man!!!!

  • mtd sometimes does make a few good flawless tractors but they do have some design flaws my brother had went to one of their factories during a business trip with my dad he had gotten to test drive one of their producion test models he got on it put it in high gear and it ended up on one wheel and broke the rear and front axel mtd was not happy.

  • lol

  • you should sue those ass wholes

  • lol ouch!!!!!

  • the wizard of pain!

  • Ahhh my f***ing finger lol

  • Those are some pretty serious design flaws, any other ones?

  • Hey... anyone know how to disconnect the reverse shutoff switch?? That is another pain in the rear.. or fingers.. or whatever :)

  • "here, trip that lever" famous last words

  • Lawsuit???? Look at toyota.. You could be sitting on a gold mine dude..

  • @zjbeast i cant imagine he could sue for that much for a smashed finger

  • that was fricken hilarious. now we don't have to suffer right? lol

  • for sale

  • lol i cant stop laughing great video i hope you are all right

  • MTD

    Made

    To

    Die

    MTD sucks

  • u know it's ironic how MTD always has the stupidest deck designs you'll ever see on practically every tractor they make! between that and the levers they put on the older tractors like the montgomery ward and the agways u guys have! that's why i love electric ptos. lol. ive got one on my cub cadet i bought this year brand new. i was a little skeptical about getting it but it looked like a good machine and fortunately i was right! i can honestly say i love it even though it's made by MTD.

  • MTD Designers - For the perfectionists in us all!!!

  • dont keep your hand there then

  • LMAO!!!! Thanks taking one for the team, for the good of the rest of the rider mower using public.

  • my husky has the same dash panel but mine has 3 lights by the amp Gage

  • What year make and model is that? I want to get it so I can Sue MTD for an injury.

  • AHHHHHHH!!! AHHHHHhh!!!! got my finger!!! Son of a *bleep.... Bleep......* that made me have a spittake. Lmao.

  • i literly pissed my pants and choked on my drink

    thanks

  • AAAAAAHAHAHHAAHHAHAA!!!!! Adam Sandler in Tractorland! That's one of those bogus moments that is actually funnier than shit later... You guys make the best vids! This one and the LTV10 with no compression are my favorites ;)

  • "trip that lever" famous last words lol

  • Man, that was funny........I'm not sure if MTD is the stupid one though...haha...but thanks for the laugh...

  • Man, that was funny..... LMAO...I'm not sure if MTD is the stupid one though...haha...but thanks for the laugh...

  • I feel for you Buddy.. That had to hurt getting your finger whacked like that..

  • i have the same mtd except it takes more than a fether to engage the knee basher and the knee basher doesnt go that far down it sticks straight out

  • lmfao! ive never heard a sound like that come from a human ahaha

  • AHH, That was great. You should rename your knee basher to THE YOUTUBERS DAY MAKER. That was some funny shit. LOL

  • im sorry but that was funny whe you hit ur finger and you screamed i knew you would hit ur finger im like arent you gonna move it

  • I own a 1999 White LT-13 tractor. The PTO and deck height are the same lever which is under extreme stress when you have it in the off position. So therefore after a few years, the metal holding the bar in the off position bends and the damn thing starts to slip into the engage position due to there being no button to push on the top of the lever. You just pull the stupid thing out of the grove and put it in the engage level you want. It's a stupid design and the tractor itself sucks.

  • I agree with you 100%. MTD is a pain to work on, never mind maintain, it is hard to take the decks off of them and a lot of parts are in bad places and there are a lot of horrible design flaws.

  • I knew you were gonna get hurt some how

  • haha thats funny

  • did you not sit on the mower before you bought it dumbass? you wouldnt buy a car you dont fit in so why would you buy a mower you dont fit in? sounds like you're a moron.

  • cut it and weld it in a different position

  • love the epic voice crack when it hit your finger lol stupid design

  • lmafo the funniest part was the beeping

  • That is stuipd, but I laughed my ass off. LOL

    Sorry

  • Holy crap what a pice of shit!!!

  • im sorry but i laughed

  • me too

  • i would not own a kneecap basher lol

  • Holy Crap... Now thats a design flaw... Time to get out the cutoff wheel and shorten that bitch.

  • omg really funny just like most of your others.

  • cut the lever and shorten it?????

  • that happened to me on my murray dang that hurt

  • LMMFAO!!!

  • I agree with Autotech9999(old comment but so true) about the stupid designers, that's not only on tractors but on cars , home apliances and streets or roads layouts too.

Your video proved that the lever is realy badly placed .

  • that sucks, man if that hit my bad knee i'd be so pissed.

  • our john deere had that crappy design for the mower engagement and did that hurt like a son of a bitch when that hit you on the side of the knee

  • MTD still makes the best tractors though The deck blade handle on my John Deere l110 is about the same as it is here in the video It swings back and hits your hand like a bitch!

  • MTD makes the best tractors?!

    ???

Newer ones or older ones, because older ones are pretty good actually, but I wouldn't say their the best. But hey, its your opinion and I respect that.

  • great vid man 5/5

  • hahahahaaha thats funny but in a larger since its not thats stupid of mtd!

  • mtd has too many design flaws, you don't have enough camera memory.

  • Thats why I only like Deere, Simplicity, older Cub Cadets, and Kubota. Built like tanks!

  • Amen to that! Those are all quality makes, and I like that you specified older Cub's cause the newer ones are not so great.

  • I got an '84 JD 111 Hydro. Great mower, owned it for 2 1/2 years now, bought it from a little old lady that only drove it to church on Sunday lol. Not really but she was a old lady. My uncle also had the big JD 430 Diesel GT, he said he looked forward to cutting the grass with it! Now he wishes he woulda kept it. Now he's looking for something else, I'm trying to talk him into this Simplicity Legacy XL 27hp Diesel, got a deal on it, $12,300 marked down to $9900 (plus $1800 for a 60" Mower)

  • The Legacy is one SERIOUS tractor! I read about it in a Simplicity brochure I got at a show. I saw that tractor in person, it's insane! More features than a friggin car, lol!

  • the older stuff by murray was okay, the new stuff is complete shit!

my tractor says 1938, i think it is from 83 it has a 12 hp briggs a model t ford carburetor a weird stator, a funny little tranny

hard to adjust brakes, now no brakes!

how am i supposed to adjust the brakes???!!!

  • @LynolsOffice hey, hey, don't forget honda

  • @LynolsOffice also made by junky MTD.

  • @LynolsOffice ya, i know. My primary mower is an 86 Cub

  • @LynolsOffice hahahahaha, i did that when i was 7 in the sears store, but it went right into my forehead, but ur bwaaaa, if u ever watch king of the hill, same guy as bevis and buthead, u sounded just like him, i commend your sacrifice for my laughter

  • @LynolsOffice do you like snappers and ferris

  • @LynolsOffice do you like snappers and ferris I don't mean to be an asshole but when you bleeped out the cussing that was pretty damn funny

  • I believe MTD owns Cub Cadet, and John Deere, and Kubota sucks dude.

  • MTD Does own Cub, they were great tractors up until around the late 1990s to early 2000s the their quality diminished greatly. MTD does not own John Deere, they're their own company. Even the ones at Home Depot and Lowes are made by them, just with cheaper quality. I've never used Kubota graden tractors but from what I've seen and heard, their good tractors.

  • @WillieWonka928D I have new Cub Cadet i bought in the spring and have used all summer. while i wouldn't say it's a good old International Harvester Cub that we all know and love, it's still a good machine and i really like it. it's actually pretty easy to work on. it's got electric PTO & 22hp Kohler Courage V Twin. while ive heard bad things about that series, it runs excellent. things i don't like about the tractor are that there's no head light switch and the hood is cheap, flimsy plastic.

  • @WillieWonka928D may i add Gravelys rider mower, rear engine job with either Kohler or Onen's opposed cylinder. I worked on one at school and i couldn't believe how much engineering was put into a lawn tractor. The old Massey Ferguson too, except the Teh cum stain motor with the huge weird magneto system it had was a joke

  • @kriegdouch I agree, I have a Gravely rider with a 12 hp Kohler and it is the best lawn tractor I have ever seen. It's a damn shame they stopped making them.

An old Gravely rider makes an old JD, Wheel Horse, or Cub Cadet pale in comparison.

  • Typical of some design engineer sitting on front of a computer screen who will never use or fix the equipment...

If they did they would think twice before putting into production...

  • OMGosh My friends and I watched this many times while laughing our butts off. great video./ sorry for your nail man, looks painful

  • I would agree on not the best design for the handle .But the fact you hit your finger hardly is MTDs fault .I saw that coming. Not to insult you but that was funny as Hell. Some times we all do stupid things myself included

  • LOL, that's why the description says Bad design + my stupidity = pain. It was a bad idea to try that.

  • @LynolsOffice i just love how when u peak the camera microphone, moldy over there just walks away

  • imagine if u had a deck

  • lol at 1:11 That must have hurt alot

  • bleep hit my bleep finger!! LMFAO you made my night!!!

  • MTD and Murray brand stuff is all garbage. Sad because Murray makes alot of the re-brtanded cheap stuff as well.

  • Yeah I was never crazy about Murray. But they're gone now, so that's one down. B&S bought them and seems to have no plans on keeping the brand around.

  • my murray 2000 mower with B&S is soil as a rock no complaints what so ever!

  • hahaha that was funny but that must suck if that was me i would of got the grinder with the cutting wheel and that thing would be gone in no time

  • If i was you I would hacksaw alot of that bar for the switch off because you dont use it any way

  • here let me simulate that for you bam OW MY FINGER!! lol that was good but still that does suck

  • we have a yard machines and that saftey cut off that shuts it off the moter if you get off with the break off. on ours even if the break is ON it still cuts out. mtd pice of shit!!!

  • hahaha im sorry but that was funny as hell

  • what kind of noise was it that you made that must have hurt like hell if you made that noise

lol that is a stupid design y didn't they fix it after they made it

  • I yelled the F-word very, very loudly.

  • You guys are fricken awesome. You guys have some of the best videos on youtube :)

  • i have an older model wizard and i need the rear end for it

  • lmfao

  • nice yo finger lmao

  • LOL.....sorry about the finger, but that was You tube gold!!

  • you should hack it and cut it shorter!!!

  • if you dont have a deck on why did you leave the lever on?

  • Exactly! I asked myself that right after it hit my finger.

  • Haha, thats is a crappy design Flaw. MTD is what they used to be, but I would never say they completly suck. I have an 1988 MTD Garden Tractor I got for free from a barn, its in near mint condition, and I only got like 60 bucks in it. It is hydrostatic with an 18 hp b&s twin 2, it has almost no wear on the motor. It is the best damn tractor I have ever had or seen. I have a few others too, lots of push mowers too..

    You guys rock!!!!!!!!!

  • lol. i just got done crying i was laughing so hard. but yea, an old mtd murray used to be like that that i used to have to deal with.

  • no offence but that was really funny, i think i was crying i was laughing so hard, but i know what you mean, i have had the same problem in the past, and i sold mine!

  • i think its kind of ironic that something so poor would be built. no common sense on that design. i have a 1971 jd 112 and it has a slidding level that engages the manual PTO. its located on the pedestal where it can be reached but does not get the way, and certainly doesnt bash you in the knee. something built back in the early 70's is far superior in every way shape and form

  • mtd sucks

  • hahahahahahhahaha

"trip that lever. AHHHHHHH!!!!! GOD FUCKING DAMNIT"

  • that is some funny shit i watched it 10 times and laughed every time

  • lmfao

  • thats hilarious!

  • That's gotta be a recent design change because the MTDs I've used from the 90s all had a nice long lever off to the side. The White MTDs and the nicer ones I always thought were well laid out and simple. There's no excuse for this bad design, all MTD does is take good tractors with good designs like Bolens and Troy-Bilt and make them into POS. Seems like the more MTD sticks around the worse their tractors get.

  • I think this dash with this lever came out around 1998, and I saw it is still in use on some models last time I was at Lowes. Yeah look at Bolens, Troy-Bilt and Cub Cadet, nothing they used to be before MTD owned them.

  • Yea , because MTD makes crappy tractors to sell at home depot. Its basically like selling the iphone at wal-mart. MTD should re-consider how much quality they are going to put into a machine.

  • You should sue them...LOL

  • Fuck that's retarded.

  • you should remove the lever.

  • I plan on it!

  • What a retarded design. That's a perfect example of ergonomics gone horrifically bad.

  • LMFAO!!!

    that sucks man. bummer.

  • cause i was gooffin off with my friend and he moved it up and i bumped it and it hit me.

  • i was at sears the uther day and sone of the smaller tracters there had a lever like that and they r so tuchy it was above the stering wheel well guss what i hit my nee it hurt so bad it felt like someone took a 2x4 to my nee so now iv been limping around!FREAKIN TRACTORS!

  • I saw those too. How did it hit your knee though it's above the steering wheel? You figure no tractor company would make levers like that anymore for this reason. The ones that slide back and forth like the bottom of the line MTD's and the entry level Sears' have are fine. Who thought the super spring loaded big ass lever was a good idea?

  • some older huskee mowers are the same way

  • I reckon you wont simulate how knee bashers work anymore LOL

  • HAHAHA its the built in knee-cap-basher

  • O H3LL, Its like you had no idea it was going to do that, lol I got the idea without you smashing your finger , but thanks for going to the extreem to prove your point.

  • I didn't think it was going to hit my finger, I was holding the block I thought it would hit my knee, guess I should have lined it up first!

  • TIME TO SUE!!! rofl jk that sucks

  • bend that stupid thing up out of the way.

  • Mtd is so frickan stupid. I almost bought one glad I didnt

  • shit@!

  • BAaahaha.... Aahahhhhaaaaoooaaaaaahhh IT HIT MY FINGER...

  • i am just wondering if you by any chance get westwwod lawn tractors over there in america

    it is a british tractor

i have 2 a T1600/42 and a T1200/36 both have a powered grass collector and will pick up very wet grass and very long grass as well if interested to look at i will put my collection of machinery on you-tube shortly

  • Stupid design! I hope the wood didn't get damaged to badly lol!!

  • MTD

    Made

    To

    Die

  • y not mod it? make it shorter or somthing to lock it i would have done it dam i with i havent sold my 8hp briggs tractor with blown rings i miss it so bad but when i had it i had to change the sparkplug each 2 1/2 tank of driveing lol

  • When I get caught up with the important stuff we have to get done before winter, I think I will mod it. Either cut it shorter, or bend it.

  • haha. But that is an OLDER tractor. Every tractor past like 1999 have worked out issues like that. My 2008 Troy-Bilt has absolutely no design flaws.

  • This tractor is acutally from 2002. The cheaper MTD built stuff still uses this exact same lever. I saw it on a new Troy-Bilt at Lowes; it has not changed, still spring loaded, still lands where your knee cap is.

  • the bleeps were prisless funny hope you recoverd ok

  • That made me laugh and that was funny. You should put that on Americas funiest home videos. It could be a hit.

  • haaha! cool!

  • ouch! i like how you blocked out the curses lmao.. i would be too lazy for that.

  • thats all the more reasons i like my case 446 and my john deere 70 and 2 210's all wery well designed machines. they are very comfortable to operate!

  • Thanks MTD!!!

  • 26 hp seems like a waste on a belt-driven.

  • Well, thats the way MTD and Husqvarna sell them new, all belt driven. Some with bigger motors than this one. And it's noticeable when your puling stuff.

  • Yeah, that's why i like old tractors better, like my cub cadet 1650. In any case, sorry about the pain bro!

  • Fuck that bypass the switch and remove the lever fuck MTD someone can really get hurt from that im suprized no body has sued them

  • MTD SUCKS ASS!

  • mtds rock

  • that looks sooo painful...to bad u bliped the profanity! take care thanks for sharing, sorry about the pain!

  • I see you got the 26 HP V-Twin on it now! That tractor must be able to pull some weight!

  • Oh yes we did. And it's awesome! I'll have a video of that next week.

  • Sweet!

  • owned

  • Haha ouch.

We have a Troy built zero turn, so far it hasn't been the best mower I've messed with. Our old 70s snapper was bulletproof.

  • nice nice.

  • Now i think of it- it seems all tractors today use the dash mounted deck engagement lever ( cept for those with electric clutches).

I have NO clue why manufacturers couldnt make thier decks like how Dynamark built thier decks- easy as pie to remove/install- remove belt from the engine pulley and one pin. Deck is all self contained AND the engagement lever is off to the side OUT of the way.

  • Thats what happens when you mess with the WiZaRd!!!
