Galbraith mentioned the planned obsolescence of cars in 1959. But most economists aren't saying anything about that today. They also haven't discussed how much consumers have lost on the depreciation of that garbage designed to fall apart.
But if we go into debt to buy more of the crap then that is economic growth and that is good.
It will never be compelling as long as people can operate in a state of DENIAL.
