I know i'm going to sound a bit like a heretic here, but I think the Flying Pickets version is better, due to having more of a natural harmonic feel, and as it sounds more emotional. And songs that use the band members' voices as instruments are cool.
ALL I can think of is the Tim & Dawn kissing scene during the Christmas special of The Office (UK). This song sets off the mood perfectly and really just helps makes the scene one of the most memorable of all time. I adore -3

@BrettMiller33 Enrique Iglesias, a very popular artist, has redone this song and it's been fairly popular although not on mainstream radio. While not exactly a rerelease, it's pretty close. In addition Joshua Radin did a more acoustic based version a couple years back that was fairly popular.

Just stay away from chart-slave radio stations and you'll find plenty of creative modern musicians. To be honest Yazoo is pretty formulaic, you know something's formulaic because you can tell which decade it was made in because it follows 'rules' of pop of that decade. This just happens to be a formula I like, but it's still a guilty pleasure, it's no Pink Floyd is it ;)

Just stay away from chart-slave radio stations and you'll find plenty of creative modern musicians. To be honest Yazoo is pretty formulaic, you know something's formulaic because you can tell which decade it was made in because it follows 'rules' of pop of that decade. This just happens to be a formula I like, but it's still a guilty pleasure, it's no Pink Floyd is it ;)
