i love karate aswell! i have heard nothing really, but are they not all still friends? i could truly imagine them going off and doing their own things for some time and then perhaps reuniting because they were together for awhile. remain optimistic man! also, i feel while they've been gone, so many more people have gotten into them. everyone i show them to ends up loving them. its great to see a full wall post of only positives, rather than people calling eachother names likeso many
wow, ollieacappella, 14 when they split, so you 2 when they started as a band. I missed them at their prime; their first LP. I guess thier van broke down on the way to the west coast in 94.
I only found out about them december last year, when i heard they split i was pretty gutted.
They are what you could probably describe as the perfect band, real good instrumentalists and their music has really influencedmy guitar playing. You need to get In Place of Real Insight next, thats a brilliant cd. Also try search for the Cancel EP f you enjoy their later stuff. Could probably be found on soulseek
So good to find this band on here. That's a great 7" that that song's from. Never saw 'em live sadly. If you've any more Karate to post, please do, be much appreciated. Thanks!
I saw Karate many many times & was never let down. One of my all time favorites. To answer the question, this song is "Operation: Sand" (it is a Karate original). It was released on Southern Records single in between the "Bed is in the Ocean" and "Unsolved" LPs (so maybe in 1999?). Thanks marginwalker01 for posting these!
i got this on 7" vinyl. love it. i feel so special right now :-)

Also, im on the edge of turning 17 so i was probably around 14 when they split too. bah all the best bands die young
Mase666 4 years ago
cheers, i told my band's lead guitarist about them the other day too, he loves their music. i think i convinced him to buy the other albums too, haha.
haha but you can hardly say karate was young. they were together some 12 years :P
ollieacappella 4 years ago
Yeah, but is probably quite young by todays standards, Rush have bee ngoing 40 years now and Iron Maiden are nearly 30 years old

why do all amazing things have to end?
karate are by far my favourite band ever. only being 14 when they split, i never got to see them in concert. =(
not fair!
thankyou for posting this, mate.

I saw them in a great gig in Calimera (LE), Italy. Quite a paradox, but unforgettable!
