The cutscene with Nitros maxes out your bombs and flame power ups. Since you maintained 4 in each the whole time, you don't notice.

It's not fair when you use save states to keep 8 hit points >=(

If he didnt he'd die alot more. And I guess that is something he does not want to do.

If you close the game, even if you have 5 or more hit points, you revert back to 4 the next time you play. Soapy used save states between sessions so that he doesn't need to "turn off" the game, hence letting him keep his 8 hit points.

I was just joking about it though. If he didn't do that it would have made most of these boss battles hard and tedious considering he wanted to get 5 on each stage. The underwater Bolban fight comes to mind >.>
