No these changes make it look horrible. I would say make each sound have one or two definite sounds like E can only be ee or ea and A can only be ay or a. Or just completely redo the language and make it like German.
Ewww with those changes English looks horrible! Keep it the way it is! I don't like how inconsistent it is but hey it looks good the way it is. If you change it like that, it looks like a germanic language. If I were to change it then I would make it look like German.
Your points are good, but if we actually updated the language there would be no readable books in English within two generations. I'm not sure that many new books will be printed on paper 50 years from now. It'll be like vinyl records, something that enthusiasts seek out, but aren't mainstream.
