O Uruguai era para ser um estado e uma capital do Brasil, mas por devidas situações que o Brasil estava passando na época por causa da economia, entregou aos espanhóis! O Brasil já estava sendo uma nação muito extensa e grande d+ para obter e brigar por uma nova capital! Let me tell you I like to travel a lot and I know many countries but nothing compare to Punta del Este, Uruguay . The beaches, the people from different parts of the world, you feel safe at any time, is beautiful

hi im from orange county california I liked punta but not even close to cancun or los cabos and not even close to acapulco or miami beach in south america is not as beautiful as pacific north or mexican caribean sorry bur true

Have you come to Uruguay?, I can assure you, we don't need to envy pacific beaches.

And people only talk about Punta del Este, there are so many other places in Uruguay which are wonderful.

I think you should stop by sometime and check it out for yourself.

This is in South America, a small country called Uruguay. It is between Brasila and Argentinia along the coast. The most civilised town in Uruguay is Punta del Este, about 1 hour north from Montevideo (the capital). Punta is "dead" during the off-season, but from 24.12 - 31.01 and somewhat 28.02 its population booms - South American stars, wanabees and tourists, heaps of beach parties and other events.

I live here, too. First in the Mansa Pda 33, then in La Barra, Montoya Beach and now in Solanas.

I am sorry you don`t share my view about Puntas beauty, but that is OK. Everybody has their own opinions. And there are more beautiful places than Punta in the world - just thinking about New Zealand. I suppose it is a shame that people get paid so little, that there is such an extreme difference between rich and poor and that there are so many uncared for people, children, dogs and cats. Sure, it is not "first world", and I am certain one knows a population by looking how they look after those who are worst of in the community. On the other hand, people seem to be content with where they are, and as far as I can see, they don`t strive to better their life consequently.

Well, in summary - Punta is neither the navel of the earth nor a new Eden, but it is nice in my opinion. If I wouldn`t think so, I wouldn`t live here since almost 3 years.

And who said Cancun or Miami beach and Punta del Este are oriented towards the same crowd? If you were in Punta del Este I am a Velociraptor, I think you have never been here. Punta is the Saint- Tropez of the Americas, with 7.5 million dollar penthouses for example. The square foot in Jose Ignacio is more expensive than the Hamptons and Saint Barths. Cancun and Miami Beach are beautiful, but 80% of their crowds are college kids getting wasted for spring break..and yes I have been there.

el mejor lugar del mundo es la Isla de Gorriti, que queda cruzando el mar desde el Puerto de Punta del Este hasta la Isla. se los recomiendo totalmente!!
