I love these mics. I purchased a TL II and a stereo pair of XLS series and I have yet to feel like I really need another condenser mic. I pair these mics up with an ADL 600 and Vintech 473 and they are great!
AKG 414 Mic was probably one of the best Mics Out there, especially for its price range. The mic is excellent on vocals, Acoustic, Strings etc etc. This Mic is about as good and any U87 or C12, Its bright Natural sound is clear and crisp. (U 87 was known to be softer though) If you find 414 slightly bright just dip your mids a little. I was convinced by my dad which was engineer, producer and instructor for 15 years not to spend 3k on U87 or C12. Excellent Choice.
