  • Tesla transformer on my channel, as well as lasers smoke bomb, and much more

  • You can get a brand new ILDA laser for £140 .00 but you need to understand how to DMX it first -you can do nearly all of these effectswith a standard dmx 512 controller , some lasers allready heve text ->but this is what this is about creating text & new images -most lasers have them built in !* animation lasers N.B

  • What up Brian? How easy is it to make custom drawn shapes and graphics? Can you save them into memory as to not have to program it all the time? Thanks.

    -JB

Also if you could answer the question about using the laser outside that would also be appreciated.

  • Disclaimer says Indoor use only ... for safety regulations? ...or is it just plain crazy to get it out in the elements? .. like at a humid windy bayside night-time park event (literally) ???

  • HI there,

I got a questions, what you guys mean 10K scanner and so forth? Please explain, also I own 2 galaxian 3d with stepper motor, is that good or bad? The lasers are great though! THx in advance

  • hahah djlightspin is so pissed, keep up the awesome reviews this laser is badass. i might buy one

  • Looking at your site, it looks like you offer variance information. As your laser does not actually meet (just about) any of the FDA regulations, has anyone ever successfully been approved for one of your relabeled chinese lasers?

  • Well, it looks like our competition is alive and well. Ok, first, these are not just relabeled anything. We have always been very open that we use the same housings as other manufacturers but the interior is quite different and much better. Second, yes, we have never once have a variance denied because our products are ALL FDA certified, have been fully tested, and are 100% compliant. It sounds like you need to do more homework friend.

  • I'd love one of those, is it easy to work?

  • So pretty!

  • Hey, whats the speed on the galvo's in that thing> Judging by the video it looks to be about 12-20Kpps?

    Cheers :)

  • Brian will be the first to tell you that his camera is rather low tech but not that that matters because animation lasers are SUPER hard to shoot on video. The stock galvo in our skywriter is 10K with 20-30K available by custom order. 10K is more than enough for great aerials live (much better than they show on video) and the higher speeds are best for projection heavy graphics.

  • wait wait wait, you're telling me that you think a 10K scanner is good for graphics? 10K can hardly even do nice beamshows...

You want a MINIMUM of 20K for any sort of good beamshow and simple graphics. If you want good graphics/animations, you should be getting a 40K scanner (If you've got the cash, 50K is the best).

Looks like your laser doesn't have a safety interlock or keyswitch as well.. Good luck getting that FDA/CDRH approved to use at an event...

  • 10K is a great place for folks to start stepping up from the stepper motor lasers out there. Bear in mind, we are not doing a Pink Floyd tour here. For example, the Martin RGB 1.6 laser that costs $60,000.00 uses a 30K scanner and remember that even a 10K is making ten THOUSAND POINTS PER SECOND. That's a LOT of real estate and a huge step up from steppers. But hey, if you can afford 40 and 50K galvos, go for it. We want to make our products affordable.

  • I'm not the competition, I'm just another laserist :P

20K scanners = ~$200 (if you know where to look)

    30K = ~ $460

    40K = ~ $595

    50K = $760

Any laserist knows that the martin RGB is a massively overpriced laser. I've personally built an RGB with real 473nm blue (not blu ray) for <$1500.

The martin also uses 446nm blue which is a LOT more than standard 473nm...

Any laser thats over 5mw requires a keyswitch and safety interlock (class 3B)... Where is that on your laser?

  • My point was that a 30K scanner is good enough for a $60K laser so a 10K scanner should be just for a <$2K. We can always custom build with faster speeds but not for those prices... our optics cost us WAY more than that. With regard to the IIIB compliance, your information is only 1/2 correct and ways in which our products are designed to exceed performance standards is proprietary. What matters is that we must and do have full FDA approval and over 100 approved variances to date.

  • Can you use one laptop running this program and a DMX program? Very Cool Laser. Thanks Brian.

  • ILDA and DMX are mutually exclusive. You can use one and then the other but not both at the same time. You can get shipping to the UK from most of our US dealers. Thanks!

  • amazing how mutch it cost?

  • brian is sexy lolz great vid are these available in the uk

  • Very nice. Would like to add that to my arsenal.

  • That's wild!

  • Wow..Very impressive!

  • impressive, the more i see these videos the more i can see i need to think about getting some lasers.... this one is great I would use it at a wedding or similar great to spell out some messages to the bride and groom.etc...love it........funky and massive

  • I am an old lady on a fixed income, I don't think I can afford it.

  • That dosen't suprise me, Rob. HA!

  • "Brian is sexy" lol =P

  • WOW that thing is so cool i have got to get one . How far away will it project and still be clear ? Thanks chris

  • It depends on environmental conditions, but sometimes as far as 100 yards or even further if you narrow down the zoom on the back. Lasers go a LONG LONG way. A single beam 100mW laser can project for miles in some cases.

  • Also, I'd say that it depends on what is actually meant with "clear" :)

  • Is this laser available in the UK??

  • Reminds me of a laser show at Cedar Point / Six Flags

    Very Nice!

  • Hi Brian, whats the galvo speed inside the Skywriter - also, how powerful is the diode?

    Cheers.

  • Stock Skywriters have a 10K galvo and a 100mW low divergence DPSS TEC diode. We can also custom build with up to 30K galvos and 500mW. They are available for UK use because they exceed IEC guidelines but so far we only have USA dealers. However, many of them ship overseas. Thanks!

  • Thanks for your prompt responce - 500mW with 30K galvos sounds pretty good, definatly quick enough for full motion with no jerkyness.... Could you place a larger die in there as a custom custom build, say... 1W?

    Cheers.

  • Yeah, man, we can do that. It is a little more complicated than making a larger die because we are going from Class IIIB to IV which has its own set of requirements... depending on where you live. But yes, we can make almost anything which is one of the advantages of actually building product.

  • Nice laser I bet it is expensive.

  • Yeah it's not for old ladies on a fixed income, that's for sure

  • Hi, nice vid as per normal, I cant see a price up anywhere ? , how long til us in UK get it.

  • It's in the USA. Not sure if it's available in the UK

  • very cool laser do you have a price on it

  • does that have to be FDA approved??

  • Yes, and it already is. That is our job to do before it comes to market.

  • Vary nice

  • Very cool!

    DJ Maverick

  • how much is the Skywriter, I like a lot of its features! also are there any lasers that put up realtime oscilloscopes? I think that would be just freakin' awesome! I'd buy it XD

  • im guessing it looks all flashy because of the frame rate on the camera right?

  • yup, I did my best but between my camera and the laws of physics, that's the best I could do

  • wholy shit, that is awesome

  • Hey Brian. Could you make a video of all the lights you have instead of making individual videos for individual lights? Thanks

  • What purpose would that serve? I don't own the lights in these laser videos, I'm simply giving you Demos on them

  • You would think with all the 'pimping' you have been doing for Xlasers that they would at least compensate you with the lights you are showing.

  • Hey, I didn't say I didn't own ANY X-Laser stuff, I just don't own the ones I've done videos on this time around. In fact, I have a very cool custom 400 mw green X-Laser we'll look at down the road :)

  • INSANE!

  • Love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Dont get me wrong this is a great laser. I dont own any lights or lasers but after looking at this, Im prolly going to pick this guy up. One question, why is it so choppy? When it said Practice and enjoy, you could barely make it out what it said but at other times its a smooth picture....

  • That's my camera's shutter speed, not the laser. It's pretty smooth :)

  • Yeah, the animation refresh rate of the skywriter is tweaked for live viewing, not through a camera. Our demo video of it even sucks frankly because it is SOO hard to shoot. You gotta see it live to fully appreciate it and 95% of the chop disappears.

  • Do you have any older cameras that have POV? Remember those concert vids from the 80's where the lights would have trails as the camera moved? Yeah, that's the kind of camera you'd need to pick it up a little more accurately. Tech has come full circle... ;)

  • @e56r1609 the cameras frame rate (30fps) cannot keep up with the lasers scanning speed sometimes. So its the camera making it look like its not producing the laser projection correctly.

  • FIRST VIEW!! WOO HOO!
