The Canada Lands Company bought the former RCAF/CFB Downsview from the federal government; Canada Lands paid for 31 acres of the military base with an unsecured, non-interest bearing promissory note, payable in 50 years. Costco and another retailer now occupy that space. At one time, CFB Downsview encompassed over 900 acres of land.
Tried in vain to get tickets to see them in Timmins in 1983. I was sadly disappointed I didn't see their show, however I had a plan, I had a 40 ouncer of Crown in the truck, got it after the bars let out and then took the elevator and stopped on every floor in the Empire Hotel till I heard noise , knocked on the door where I recognized their voices and showed the bouncer/doorman the bottle so he let me in to the party. Gary asked "How in the fuck did you get in here?" Best party ever, ;-}
@askaterboy2 I saw them I think at the Nagshead North in the late 80's in Toronto. I laughed my ass off too ;) I missed half the lokes cuz I was too busy laughing at the previous jokes..
