@TPDom7 ,those playoff stats arent the head to head numbers, but rather their career numbers, head to head,Wilt destroyed Bill. Wilt took a lesser role on offense as his career went on. Wilt averaged more than 22.5 head to head vs Russell in the playoffs all time. Int he 67 eastern conf finals, Wilt averaged 21ppg,32reb,10asst,12blks per game. Russell just had a better team, he only played with 9 ofther hall of famers
@wilzusuki he was a better individual player, I believe, because he had to do more things by himself. He was the whole team with no worthy players around him. He was certainly more fun to watch, he did it everything by himself. But I don't think he was better... I am not sure which one of us is right though :)
@TPDom7 so russell's points go up and wilts goes down and yet he still outscored him by 6ppg while shooting 10% better for his playoff career and this is ur big stat u want to present?? thats like giving credit to ben wallace whose scoring average goes up in the playoffs while punishing mello cuz his goes down(very little) in the playoffs while ignoring the overall picture that anthony is clearly a better offensive player which is the case with wilt..so bill is better for closin in on the gap?
@harp Russel won 11 titles in a league of 9 teams and against mostly short white guys who smoke after games and have beer bellies. Unleash Jordan in Russel's era? It won't even be fair.
Bill Russell was nowhere near better than jordan. His 11 rings came from a team that was just dominant. Plus there were only 9 teams and then an expansion to 14 teams back in Bill's day so it was way easier to be a dominant team when you had such small competition.
i love watching these videos. there are so many plays that would've made the all time highlight reels of players today but for michael you don't see them until you analyze every shot he's made. in this video itself there are atleast 3.
Chuck Daly was pretty explicit about one aspect of the Jordan Rules:
"The other rule was, any time he went by you, you had to nail him. If he was coming off a screen, nail him. We didn't want to be dirty—I know some people thought we were—but we had to make contact and be very physical."
Jordan was great, no question, but all his competition burned out, lan bias-dead cocaine overdose, roy tarpley, kicked out of the league, cocaine, chris mullin, missed a full year for alchohol problems. The bad boys lost Rick Mahorn to expansion possibly costin the pistons another title. Bird had doc, moses, jabaar, and magic, and these players alang with the pistons made the eighties better and more competative. The 90s were a joke and jordan exploited the lame league of the 90s!
@harp1925 WHEN JORDAN CAME TO CHICAGO IN 1984 THE BULLS WERE THE 2º WORST TEAM OF THE LEAGUE. YEARS LATER HE GAVE THEM 6 CHAMPIONSHIPS...jordan beat the magic johnson,s lakers 4-1, the champions-pistons 4-0, the ewing knicks , the drexler blazers 4-2 , the barkley suns 4-2, the stockton and malone jazz (4-2 in 2 consecutive finals)...all the members of the famous 1992 dream team were schooled by jordan. always the same result: jordan always winning... casuality? he is simply the G.O.A.T !!!!!!
@guspopov None of the guys u mention are in the same league of jabbar, moses malone, doc...etc. Jordan deserves a place as one of the greatest, but ewing, barkly, k malone, stockton, please. Notice magics lakers, no jabbar, no titles, fact. Pistons title run cut short, expansion draft, lost mahorn. Magic five titles in the eighties, facing real super teams, birds celtics, docs sixers, bad boy pistons. Remember who owned the bulls before mahorn left, thats right the pistons! Not the G.OA.T
@harp1925 1- ricky mahorn? is this a joke? from 1986 to 1989 mahorn averaged 6 points and 7 rebounds per game !!! poor poor poor numbers...2- super teams in the 80,s??? another joke? tell me 1 team of legend in the 80,s in the west... lakers were lucky because they were in all the finals because the rest of the teams in the west weren,t great teams 3- barkley, ewing, stockton, malone, drexler were part of the 1992 dream team, the greatest team ever...
@guspopov Mahorn, a joke? tell him that and get destroyed, the fiercest pick setter ever! Celtics, sixers, pistones, bucks hawks, bulls. Barkley, ewing, stockton-should have been isaiah, malone did not make that team the greatest. Bird, Magic, Jordan-made that team great. If we r talkin goat, Russell is tha G.O.A.T of champions. Chamberlain is the G.O.A.T of individual talent. The eighties lakers, made the west look weak, a testament to their greatness!.
@harp1925 the lakers were the greatest team in the west in the 80,s of course (magic , worthy 21 points per game from 86 to 92, wilkes 21 points per game from 80 to 83, jabbar 23 points per game from 80 to 87, nixon, scott, cooper...) but everybody knows in the west in the 80,s there were not good teams...in the east were celtics all the decade and sixers from 80 to 1985 and pistons from 87-90 but in the west there were shit so lakers go to finals and lost 4-0 in 1983 4-0 in 1989 or 4-1 in 1991
@guspopov Stats don't mean anything. In 83 worthy broke his leg, in 89, scott and magic were injured, 91, jabbar was retired. The 87 lakers would have kicked th bulls ass, the 86 and 87 celtics owned the bulls 3-0, 3-0, mmm with m.j. on the team, LOL! Jordan, like any other player needed great players to win, fact. By himself, the bulls were a joke!
@harp1925 1- in 1983 worthy only played 25 minutes per game 2- in 1987 celtics 3- bulls 0 .do you wanna know why? celtics: 5 all stars in his initial team (johnson, ainge, machale, bird and parish) bulls initial team : jordan and...listen please: STEVE COLTER !!! BRAD SELLERS !!! DAVE CORZINE !!!! and charles oakley... LOL ) 3- in 1991 jabbar wasn,t there so you give me the reason...without great players magic bird or jordan are nothing but jordan had not players like magic and bird.
@guspopov Wrongo, when bird came in the league in 79, the Celtics went from 32 wins to 61 wins and lost in the semifinals to the sixers. At the time the greatest single year improvement in league history. Jordan won titles with Pippen, Grant, Kukoc, Rodman, pretty good players. If he didn't have these players he would have no titles. Also, the league turned weak and outlawed the tough bad boy way of basketball, giving the Jordan game a free pass, fact. BTW, Russell 11 titles Jordan 6.
@harp1925 1- with 5 all stars in your team or with the greatest center ever in your team is easier to win. but JORDAN won 6 CHAmps with just scottie pippen and the rodman rebounds..grant , kukoc, paxson were a good players of course but was paxson better than byron scott or dany ainge? was kukoc better than worthy or wilkes? was grant better than machale? cartwright or longley better than kareem or parish? of course not..with a worst players around jordan 6 rings, bird 3..jordan 6 rings, magic 5.
@guspopov Pippen was as good as wilkes or worthy, Rodman is the best rebounder of the decade, Michael needed help, fact. Russell 11 jordan 6. Jabbar 6 Jordan 6 Bird and Magic played in a tougher era, the nineties sucked, shawn kemp, barkely, malone, had nothin on bird, magic of the eighties. Put the 90s bulls in the eighties they might win a couple titles. The nineties were sad. Jordan was great, but Russell G.O.A.T.
@harp1925 11- russell GOAT? he was a great defensive player but not a great ofensive player (15 ppg) and he played in a easier era 2- jordan needed help, of course but you compare those initial teams: celtics (bird+ 4 all stars: d johnson, ainge, machale and parish) lakers (magic + 3 all stars: nixon, wilkes, kareem+ rambis) bulls : jordan +1 all star: pippen+ paxson grant cartwright)...3- the 80,s was an easy era: only lakers, celtics and sixers in the beginning and pistons at the end
@guspopov Russel dominated defensively, 11 championships, Jordan 6, no comparison, Russell GOAT. Rambis-all star? Ainge All Star? What about Grant, and Rodman. Rodmans 15 boards per game, bailed th bulls out many times. The nineties were the weakest era since the early 70s, fact. Expansion, deaths, rule changes-pussyifying the league, suspensions-tarpley, made the nineties weak. The eighties had two all time classic finals, 84 and 88. The nineties one 94, when jordan retired. 80s>90s!
@harp1925 1- read again what I SAID: LAKERS WERE magic +3 all stars (kareem nixon and wilkes) + rambis (i didnt say he was an all star) 2- yes, ainge was an all star (1988) 3-grant wasnt an all star 4- rodman: 15 rebounds and...5 points per game !!! 5- 1982: 2º best team in the west :sonics 52-30 3º best team : spurs 48-34 !!!! so lakers: champs, 1985: 2º best team in west: nuggets 52-30 3º best team: houston: 48-34 !!! 1987: 2º mavs 55-27 3º blazers 49:33 !! THAT WAS THE "GREAT" LEVEL IN WEST
@guspopov Russell 11 titles=G.O.A.T, fact, deal wid it! In the 80s the bucks won their division for 6 straight years and did not make th finals, a clear indicator of how tough it was. In the wake of the ABA NBA merger, the league emerged in the 80s then descended in the 90s, caused by expansion and a bunch of dopes, Bias, Tarpley, Kemp...etc. Jordan had it easy after the Pistons got old. Before Pippen and Grant, Jordan couldn't even win a playoff game, fact.
@harp1925 1- russell GOAT? he was a great defensive player but in ofensive playing...pfffff...and he was maybe the worst shooter in nba history (56% in free throw line) how can HE BE the goat if he,s maybe the worst shooter ever? LOL good joke for you.. 2- lakers were champs in a conference with only 1 team with more of 50 wins...that,s the real level in nba teams. numbers dont lie and you know it... 3- 1991 finals : bulls 4 -- lakers 1 that,s the real truth...
@harp1925 russell cant be the greatest when he got dominated by wilt on a individual level..he was a great leader but also had an advantage by having alot of HOF on his team...jordan swept the pistons in 91 who were the 2 times defending champs & 3 times conference defending champs & they were not old dumars was 27, thomas was 29 rodman 29, aguirre 31, laimbeer 33..how is that old? on top of that they were ranked #1 in the NBA in defense that year..bulls just finally matured to a better team
@harp1925 and i saw you write that the league outlawed the pistons way of basketball to give jordan a free pass...well explain to me what kind of style did the knicks play? is that the type of play your talking about when you say the league got pussified???..that didnt happen til the 2000's when they started outlawing hand checking and getting real strict with the technical & flagrant fouls
@CHITOWN1987 Obviously you were not around in the eighties, the greatest era of NBA ball ever. After M.J. cried about the pistons way of playing basketball was bad for the league, the flagrant foul was added, and the bulls sweep the pistons, with a crucial flagrant called against the pistons early in the series, pretty much letting the pistons know physical play would not be tolerated. The knicks were choirboys nest to the pistons. The rules changed when the bad boys ruled, fact.
@harp1925 your acting as if the pistons were dominating the bulls..sure they were winning the previous years but its evident that the bulls were improving as a team in 88 they lost in 5, 89 they lost in 6, in 90 they lost in gm 7 then 91 they overcame and swept them..your going to say that the 92 bulls knicks series couldnt compare at all to 80's physical play?..In the 80's it wasnt as if they pistons stopped mj they were just a better team jordan still dominated them from an individual level
@CHITOWN1987 Before the 89-90 season the Pistons lost Rick Mahorn to the expansion draft, possibly cutting the Pistons run a couple of years short. Anyways Jordans whining led to less physical play, fact, look it up. Even in the mid eighties after Boston beat L.A. in 84 physical play was being watched more closely. During the Pistones run, Bill Laimbeer had his consecutive game streak stopped by the league officials for his physical fouls. Jordan is still an all time great, but Russel=goat!
@harp1925 russell cant be the GOAT when wilt dominated him on a individual level & it wasnt close wilt put crazy numbers on him...its just celtics had alot of talent for that time..russell's rookie year his teamate won ROY & his other teamate won MVP he had a team at one point with 9 hall of famers..if he is the GOAT why was he consistently on the 2nd all-nba team..im not a fan of just going by rings there has to b a level of individual dominance for that players era compared to his peers
@CHITOWN1987 Russell won in college and the pros, notice how the celtics won most of their titles after he joined them. He dominated defensively. Wilt could be the greatest individual talent, but Russell was an 11 time champ-hard to top that, Jordan, Jabbar, Magic, Bird, no one is close. His impact was greater than his stats. Russell-goat.
@harp1925 so where does sam jones rank in all-time then? he is a 10-time champ...he was a mutiple time all-star and made 2nd-all nba as well and led those celtics teams in scoring mutiple times on their way to championships..i understand that russell impact can be more than his stats but when the gap statistically is so large it makes a bold statement..the celtics won just cuz they had alot more talent...bill's best scoring season is wilts 13th best scoring season, bill's best reb. season (cont)
@harp1925 (cont) is wilt's 4th best season, bill's best FG% season 46.7% is 5% worst then wilts career average and 26% worst then his best season (72.7%)..in head2head wilt averaged 29&29 bill got 14.5&24...wilt dropped 50+ 8 times& had 40+rebs 7times..bill never scored 40+ on wilt & had 1 game of 40+ reb..so how can he be GOAT if everytime he faced wilt, wilts team had da advantage at da center position..dats like comparing bynum to howard..dwight is better but bynum has the team to win rings
@CHITOWN1987 Basketball is a TEAM game, Russell was a TEAM player, Russell-GOAT. Wilt played on talented teams, 76ers, lakers, monster talents, probably more so than the celtics, but Russell knew how to win in college and the pros. Wilt is great but did not have the winning edge russell did, fact!
@harp1925 wilt had more talent on his teams?? in '60 (wilts rookie year) wilt had 3 other people average double figures, bill had 6 other players average double figures, in '61 wilt had 1 player score over 15 ppg and bill had 5 other players average 15ppg or more...im not about to go through every year...yes wilt had some talented team but that celtic dynasty was crazy...at one point 9 HOF's on one team? & u want to say wilt probably had more talent than those celtic teams?...its evident (CONT)
@CHITOWN1987 Man, harp it looks like my man chitown got you on this, the man definantly has done his homework. Props to you on that CHI, you ain't just arguing without some facts, you got very valid points. Harp you got good points too, i'm just more inclined to agree with CHITOWN on this one. It's good though for people to be able to disagree and debate on points in an intelligent and insightful manner, and gentlemen i think that's what we have here. Even if we agree to disagree, keep it fun.
@harp1925 dat we're not going 2 agree so ur entitled 2 think russell is da goat & ill stick with mj...i honestly feel that kareem & wilt both should be ranked above russell easily...ill just say this again how can he b da goat wen wilt was da reason he was on the 2nd all-nba team almost every year of his career...how can he be the goat when he wasnt even considered the best center during his own time..he might have a better legacy but he wasnt a better player i think u just focus 2 much on rings
@harp1925 Well i was around.Dog i keep hearing you yappin' and runnin' off at the mouth about how MJ was whinning about the physical play of the pistons.I remeber those days well, and dude the PISTONS did used to beat the shit outta MJ, he took some big pounding. However let me set you straight on somethin' youngyin, MJ took his lickins and kept on tickin. So MJ complained sometimes, but he still was droppin' gems like this 61 point beauty and 59 at detroit, he is the GOAT bruh.
@delfra70 Well since your yappin bruh, Jordan is not the goat. Most championships russell-11, most records wilt. MJ is the greatest 2 guard-but not the goat. He dominated a weakened league, to much expansion, No len bias, no roy tarpley, the pistons lose rick mahorn, no kareem-magic, and Bird late in his career. Jordan had several losing seasons, unti Pippen and grant came along. But, I'm not going to rip on MJ, In his best years he was the best, but so was magic, bird, kareem, russell,
@harp1925 Yeah, yeah, yeah. true that russell is the king of championships, i wont debate that, and wilt the stilt owns a gang of nba records, no doubt about it. Now answer me this, how many playoff and finals records do wilt own, and compare that to MJ's,see i got you in a dilema my man. Mj is not considered the (argubly) best because of what he did in the regular season, but the post season. You earn money and get stats in the regular season, you earn your legendary status in the postseason.
@delfra70 You cannot compare playoff records, when Russell played there were less playoff series. Jordan played in an era where an extra series was added. Russell and Wilt would have played in quarters, conference finals, finals. Jordan would have played one more round for 15 years potentially adding 45 more games to his playoff record. You can only rate someone by how they performed during their era. MJ was the best in the 90s, Bird-Magic 80s, Jabbar, 70s, Russell, Wilt 60s. All are goats
@harp1925 Yes there we're more playoff games played in Mj's era. But remember, there is a dissadvantage to playing more playoff games as well, it takes a toll on you.And MJ is the only player i know who's playoff avg jumps up in the playoffs, that's not a coincidence bruh.Mj by far has the highest scoring avg. in NBA history, the most dominate player in finals history. But all we're great, MJ,MAGIC,RUSSELL,WILT,JABBAR,BIRD,etc...yes, they are all goats.Players today don't come compare to them.
@harp1925 jordan had several losing seasons without pip?? he had 2!! with that 2nd one needing to win 1 more game to be .500...people always say jordan couldnt do nothing til pip and grant showed up but never mention pip & grant werent even starters their first year and only averaged 8ppg yet da bulls won 50 games..pip wasnt an allstar til 1990 and in 1991 when the bulls won their 1st title and 1998 in their last title jordan was the only allstar on that team
@harp1925 and your saying jordan couldnt control the game with defense...he is in the convo as the best perimeter defender in history (alltime leader in blocks 4 a guard,3rd all time in stls, only player to have 200&100 DPOY while averaging 35ppg, 9time all nba defense) & the best offensive player in history....so in your eyes the greatest of all time is someone who can dominate only half the game which is only the defensive side of the court (except when facing wilt which we already gone over)
@CHITOWN1987 Russell 11 titles, Jordan 6, stats are only part of the picture. BTW, Jordan was the greatest scorer, but others were just as good in overall game, Bird, Magic, Jabbar, Moses, Chamberlain, could all be called the greatest offensive players ever. But obviously u r biased as your name proves, but Russell 11 titles, damn Jordan ain't even close. Russell got his titles with chamberlain, baylor, west, and the big o in their prime. The celts missed 2 titles in 13 years, case closed!
@guspopov Jordan did not win shit until Pippen, grant, Cartright, came along. Until the arrival of help, he was a great talent, but even he could not win a single playoff game, until Pippen and Grant joined the team, look it up, fact! I put Jordan as the greates 2 guard ever, that's as far as it goes.
@harp1925 I SEE YOU FORGET BASKETBALL IS A SPORT OF TEAM. it,s not tenis. it,s not swimming. it,s not boxing. it,s a team. jordan, magic johnson, bird or ANY OTHER SPORTMEN are nothing without a good team in their back. obviously pippen, rodman or grant help jordan to win, of course. and larry bird played with 4 all star game players in his initial team (ainge, d johnson, machale and parish) and magic johnson played with the greatest center ever kareem, and all stars like wilkes, nixon or worthy
I believe this Pistons team went to the conference finals the next year and in 88-89 won the NBA title so they were a very good team when this game was played.
Asshole kobe only won those rings because of shaq! Kobe needs gasol and he is a center by the way, take gasol off the team they can't even get past the first round, and barely make the playoffs that's another fact! And as far as wade and James hoes look at Cleveland record this yr the worst in the NBA, and wade was making the playoffs with a teams that was worst the nbdl teams lol Kobe is the most overrated player of our generation imo
@TheLegacy125 Kobe is overrated. If your going to make an argument for Kobe not gettn rings without Shaq or Gasol you to look at these facts as well. Shaq doesn't get any rings without Kobe [Or Wade]. Gasol doesn't make it out of the first round. Michael doesn't get his rings without Pippen, Grant and certainly Rodman. Okay maybe he gets a couple but not six. My point is, that it takes a great players with great players to win rings. The Pistons of 2004 being a recent exception.
@HymanKaplan Oh yeah theres no denying that. My thought was that none of the players on that 04 team as individuals could hold a stick to the elite players of the league. Wallace when motivated I grant you. I look at that team as 5 stars [not superstars] who's strengths perfectly complimented each others game. They may not have always won pretty, but they could shut down the best superstars in the game. Just my opinion...thanks
How can people even make the argument that the league is better today with 'complex' defenses and athletic players? The 80's/90's alone pratically had LEGENDS and even under them were stars and greats that helped refine the standards of the game, until more younger, unpolished kids started coming into the league to try their luck. Heck, the new rules were introduced to compensate for the kids' lack of fundamentals and play on their strengths of speed and athleticism.
goodness gracious (!!) did u see the footwork on that baseline move at the beginning of the clip? :05 - how can there b any doubt that there is no other off guard who plays/ played at this guy's level ... ?
The kind of shots he made in this game ... I don't think I'll ever see anything like this in my lifetime again. The mis-air adjustment on his leaner at 1:18 while triple teamed still defies any description.\
I've always been at a loss for words when I saw Jordan make those adjustments floating in the air.
plus jordan played against some great defenses, e.g. Pistons and Knicks who took basketball skullduggery to a level that the bad boys of Detroit would critique.
Jordan will always be the greatest. His agility, footwork, quickness and shot fakes created shots that Lebron or D-Wade couldn't even fathom. Kobe doesn't fake as much and is not nearly as quick, but his agility creates shot opportunities also, which is why he can get to the finals consistently, with or without Shaq.
@aboverim Kobe could not win without a dominant center, MJ could. Do not compare them. What did Kobe do when Shaq left? Jerry hooked him up with Gasol to bail him out.
@123bigr Why did you bother responding, don't compare them?? You are also comparing them by saying Kobe can't win without a dominant center while Jordan can. You are only adding to my statement about how Jordan will always be the greatest.
@aboverim I responded because you mentioned Kobe on a MJ video, you nut. I gave you an example of why you should not compare them. It was in response to your comment about Kobe's agility allowing him to go to the finals with or without Shaq. Kobe did not do crap until Gasol came along, where did his agility get him before that? Lastly, Kobe should be mentioned with Wade, so go to his video. I am going back to enjoying MJ.
@123bigr You bigr dummy, all great players need solid teammates along side them. Jordan struggled his first seven years to make the finals until Pippen and Grant became solid players. Gasol is not SHAQ. 18ppg? At best he matches Kobe's game like Pippen did Jordan. As for your responses, Kobe's name is probably mentioned on THOUSANDS of videos here on You Tube, why choose mine to respond to, Dummy? You spend your life responding to EVERYONE who mentions Kobe on a Jordan video? Get a life loser.
@aboverim Where is all this hostility coming from?LOL. I agree that Gasol is not A prime Shaq, but he was the most complete center in the league when he arrived and he still may be, plus with Bynum, he moves to forward sometimes. Kobe has two of the top 5 big men in the game today, plus Od and his team still struggles. To answer your question, no I do not spend my life responding to everyone who mentions Kobe one a MJ video, but I hit a few chumps like u when I happen to cross paths.LMAO
@123bigr Chump? who you callin' chump FOOL? You're just a Jordan jock rider cause you know nothing else. Gasol's a FORWARD, having his best offensive season in 5 years with Kobe struggling, and it still isn't dominant. Bynum hasn't played a full season in 5 years. Odom's a pothead and Phil Jackson's Yin has lost it's yang. Kobe's game is very sub-par COMPARED to Jordan's Bulls, but for his career Kobe has made it work. 7 finals appearances puts him in a much higher class than Wade and Lebron
@aboverim You are funny. I laugh every time I read your comment. BTW, I forgot to mention Artest.
Gasol is a Center/forward u nut, so relax. I tell u what, if Jerry did not hook his boy up with Gasol, those last two rings would not exist. Kobe could not win with a mid level center. He has to have a dominate big man in order to win. How many teams have won rings without a solid big man? Your answer is why MJ is above all others. Now leave me alone chump.LOL
@123bigr Kobe has not played with a dominant center since SHAQ. Gasol hasn't played center since high school, FOOL! Even my trusty NBA ALL STAR BALLOT lists GASOL as FORWARD. You Jordan-jock sniffers need to come up for air once in a while aside from me mentioning Kobe in a video. I've already stated Kobe is great, and Jordan is the greatest, but Jordan isn't perfect either. 61 points & needs overtime to beat a pre-champ Piston team? And who was their dominant center, LAIMBEER? IDIOT.
@aboverim Didn't I tell u to leave me alone Chump? Gasol is a forward/center, therefore your comment about him not playing center since high school is wrong. Look at the previous All star list and see what they put next to Gasol. U are ignorant as they come. When Bynum is hurt or not on the court, who plays center(most of the time)? The Pistons had Laimbeer, Salley(sp), Rodman, Rick and Buddha, so take your pick.BTW, I said Kobe needs a dominate center to win not the pistons.
@123bigr You spew out nonsense. Gasol is a Forward. PF means Power Forward, dummy. You're such a dummy, LMAO, you can't read? If Gasol were a true dominant center, young Bynum would come off the bench. LMAO. BTW, Gasol himself isn't even a DOMINANT player. Seven years on the Grizzlies Gasol made All-Star Team ONCE. Dominant my ass, He's only above average at best. So Kobe needing a dominant big man is IRRELEVANT. If Gasol were so dominant he'd be star of the Lakers, like SHAQ was, dummy.
@123bigr If you were to cut out your foolish responses you would realize that THIS VIDEO is Jordan against the Pistons. Neither team had a dominant center and both won championships. I bet if I mention Isiah's quickness and court awareness you would take issue with that too. A true NBA fan would appreciate and understand that, unlike you simple-minded Jordan fanatics, who prefer to just ride the jock-strap of ONE player. Tell Jordan how his ass tastes.
the old tight basketball clothes/dress looks much better then the new wide basketball clothes. Why don't we dress tight basketball clothes? Why did it change?
@bluenerve actually Jordan was an asshole, even to his teammates. There was a competitive fire back in the day that you could see from great players and Jordan embodied that. You either stepped up your game or get stomped on and be shown as a pussy. Nowadays its more acceptable to be a complacent player to go with your huge ego and a high contract.
Kobe and Lebron, like all the others that came after MJ are pretenders. If you know basketball you'd know this. But if some convincing is needed, a short snippet of MJ's dominance is in order:
#1 all time in PPG reg season AND playoffs
#1 all time in PER
#1 all time in blocks for a guard
#2 all time in steals
#3 all time in rebounds for a guard
Dominant on both ends and did so in the toughest defensive era of the NBA.
@adammanymoons LOL that's the truth . The Pistons were my favorite team back then . Laimbeer, Mahorn and Rodman beat the shit out of this guy and he still scored 60.
Look; Kobe's name doesn't belong in any sentence, statement, or discourse with Jordan's. Even if you're saying how much better Mike was than him.
And yet, KB, who patterns his game after Mike to the best of his ability, is the best in the game today. Says loads about the Master that a poor mimicry can be so good.
@jagemobe You're right, you are not talking about '61 points against some mediocre squad, you're talking about the "BAD BOY" pistons, a great defensive team and very physical. I am always amazed at this,' 61 points, and at DETROIT, i remember his '59 point game at detroit as well. As good as KOBE,LEBRON,D-WADE,MELO,DIRK and guys like that are, there is no way i could see those guys scoring anywhere near those amount of points against a great defensive physical team like detroit, no way.
when kobe gets 6 rings as batman and not robin then maybe he can be in conversation as being better than jordan. cause if u have a dominate big man (shaq) then u can win. mj had bill cartwright and luc longley. come on
I congratulate you for acknowledging it, indeed... maybe, you`ve realized that I`ve never said that Kobe is better than Michael... I just compare stats... however, the amount of times that Michael and Kobe are 100% according to your statement, is extremely dubious...
why is kobe in this conversation. he's no where near jordan status. just look at the video and the competition jordan played against. there wasnt any touch foul calls and u had better centers guarding the paint with no 3 second rules and hand check calls. there's no more than a solid 10 great people in the NBA so stop comparing kobe stats to jordans cause there's NO comparison!
Good god...Do you people realize we`re talking `bout extremely hard defense on him: dumars (who was an elite defender!), isiah, double teams, tripple teams, anything one can think of....And still, he LITERALLY does what he wants. and the way he does it, it`s just breathtaking...There is just one appropriate phrase which describes MJ: GOAT!
Jordan had the ability to light you up during the season, AND the playoffs. This is why Kobe is not better. There are too many gay ass little kids watching basketball now. MJ's career stats in the NBA Finals destroys Kobe's. Kobe could never score 63 against a team as good as the 80's Celtics. Nor would he hang 55 points against the 1993 Suns in the NBA Finals.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Kobe scored 62 points vs Dallas Mavericks in the 2006 season, in just 3 quarters. When the third quarter ended, the Mavericks had just scored 61 points, meaning that Kobe outscored the entire Dallas' s team all by himself. This is the only time that that has happened in the history of NBA. Maybe, LJ can't beat a team all by himself... but Kobe CAN! So, how can you say so? Beside, Kobe's 62-point game was a lot better than this one of Michael Jordan. Just analyze it.
Incorrect, these Pistons set records for lowest points allowed by an opponent and for points allowed per possession by an opponent. It is a MUCH bigger accomplishment to light up the best defense ever than it is to light up the Mavericks, who i love dearly but don't play defense all that well against pesky little guards. Mike also scored his 60+ point games on 70% shooting, Kobe does it with many many more shots and freethrows.
All come on stop the whole MJ vs kobe thing he will never be MJ be cause there is only one, just like there is only one kobe damn a dude score 81 he compare to a legend lol wilt chamberlain score a 100 is kobe better cause 81 naw.But then again MJ is retried and people still buying his sneakers hmm I wonder why lol.....
kobe can't beat a team like MJ did in his time in the NBA. Lebron can't do it either. this is 87, but later during the next years, this piston designed the "jordan rules" . obviously there is no "kobe rules or lebron rules". that says a lot a player when teams do that to try to stop him. well the point is that he continued to outsmart many opponents and beat their defense on his own. Sure, one game means nothing, but Jordan, over the years embarrased teams in the league at will many times.
@mariomarcano Wrong...which team is better¿ That Dallas Mavericks team or the Bad Boy Pistons¿ Do you think that Jordan could have done the same thing to that same Dallas team¿
I've seen Jordan play in 97 and 98 his last years and obviously he wasn't as impressive skillfully and physically, but I knew he was the best probably because my dad said so, and because of the last shot in 98 to end his career. This is the first game I saw of Michael Jordan in the 80's. Right when I saw this I said to myself "oh that's why he's the best."
Some people are under the illusion that that the league is better now than it was in Jordan's day; the players today are far superior, Jordan never had to face zone defenses etc. The opposite is true; the league was more talented in the 80's & early 90's, handchecking was allowed, there was no 3 second rule in the paint, and Jordan still dominated.
@moybutter yeah in the 80's & 90's the centers could shoot mid range jump shots nowadays centers cant even shoot only rebound and dunk like dwight howard
@dafoo28 Most centers today don't even play behind the basket. They would rather face up and use their size and speed to score easy points. And even they don't block well either. They usually just smash the ball and not keep it in play so their teammates can probably snag it and run in transition for a quick score.
@moybutter What is crazy is that Mj played great in the 80s,90s and even when he was on the Wizards being past his prime. He dominated the 80s and 90s and still held his own on the Wizards with teammates like Stackhouse and Hamiltion as backup players. An Mj past his prime was still better than Stackhouse and Hamilton (where Hamilton won a ring & hit some clutch shots).
I agree this is the real 61 pts the knicks have talent but damn this is against championship defense he was smokin them like blunts he erased Detroit My dad has this recorded at the crib
amazing, he could change position in the air avoiding being blocked by 3 guys, simply unbeatable, defeated Jordan rules, avged 37 ppg that year with the old rules, he is the greatest ever, now he will be averaging 45ppg
Yeah and this is just one of many 40.. 50...60+ point games he had against the Pistons too. And not to mention the Detroit Bad Boys are one of the best defenses in league history. MJ GOAT!!!
The Jordan Rules is a set of team defensive rules and principles designed to limit Michael Jordan on offense. In essence, it's a defensive philosophy wherein the whole team is always aware of where Jordan is on the court and every player knows exactly where to be in various situations when Jordan has the ball. In short, it is a defensive system designed solely to stop Michael Jordan. After Jordan killed them this game, the Jordan Rules were created.
35 on J. Posey, who shut down kobe in the finals; 35 on KG & KG was guarding him; 43 on R. Jefferson & K. Martin; 41 on S. Marion & made the game winning shot on him; 32 on T-Mac & 32 on P. Pierce..
In '03, MJ shot 48% in 41 home games for the Wizards & avg'd 22ppg, TOPS amongst ALL guards for home games that yr.
In this gama in particular he had 30 in the 4th, scoring the last 6 in the last 20secs. He had 26 when he the last jumper with 14 secs (57 points). The commentator stated it clearly. He hit both free throws and was fouled again hitting again both FT. By the way, respect to Kobe, 30 points in a quarter is unbelievable.
BTW, i think he sank the final 4 FTs in the OT....at the end of the video you can see: "Chicago 125 - Detroit 120 Overtime"...they were tied with :14 left in the 4th after MJ's last shot...they are silly details anyway...
It's funny how Kobe lovers never get tired of comparing him to MJ. The fact of the matter is, the smart ones out here who actually grew up watching MJ and respect the game.... know that we would never compare the greatest to ever play the game to Kobe Bryant. MJ changed the game...forever. The facts, numbers, titles, and highlights are undeniable and proof that MJ is the greatest. THERE IS NO ARGUMENT.
Is it true Jordan only had 5 60-point games? [69 vs. cavs, 64 vs. magic, 63 vs. celts, 61 vs. hawks, 61 vs. pistons] Who has the most 60-point games in NBA history?
@TPDom7 ,those playoff stats arent the head to head numbers, but rather their career numbers, head to head,Wilt destroyed Bill. Wilt took a lesser role on offense as his career went on. Wilt averaged more than 22.5 head to head vs Russell in the playoffs all time. Int he 67 eastern conf finals, Wilt averaged 21ppg,32reb,10asst,12blks per game. Russell just had a better team, he only played with 9 ofther hall of famers

mike was better player before he cut his hair
wilzusuki 4 months ago
@wilzusuki he was a better individual player, I believe, because he had to do more things by himself. He was the whole team with no worthy players around him. He was certainly more fun to watch, he did it everything by himself. But I don't think he was better... I am not sure which one of us is right though :)

catalinaguerrero 5 months ago
@TPDom7 so russell's points go up and wilts goes down and yet he still outscored him by 6ppg while shooting 10% better for his playoff career and this is ur big stat u want to present?? thats like giving credit to ben wallace whose scoring average goes up in the playoffs while punishing mello cuz his goes down(very little) in the playoffs while ignoring the overall picture that anthony is clearly a better offensive player which is the case with wilt..so bill is better for closin in on the gap?
CHITOWN1987 5 months ago
@harp Russel won 11 titles in a league of 9 teams and against mostly short white guys who smoke after games and have beer bellies. Unleash Jordan in Russel's era? It won't even be fair.
pACEy28 6 months ago
Bill Russell was nowhere near better than jordan. His 11 rings came from a team that was just dominant. Plus there were only 9 teams and then an expansion to 14 teams back in Bill's day so it was way easier to be a dominant team when you had such small competition.
brainiac101693 6 months ago
61 points and they still barely win. His cast wasn't great at all back then.

i love watching these videos. there are so many plays that would've made the all time highlight reels of players today but for michael you don't see them until you analyze every shot he's made. in this video itself there are atleast 3.

Chuck Daly was pretty explicit about one aspect of the Jordan Rules:
"The other rule was, any time he went by you, you had to nail him. If he was coming off a screen, nail him. We didn't want to be dirty—I know some people thought we were—but we had to make contact and be very physical."
Imagine trying to get away with that today.

The 90s were a joke and jordan exploited the lame league of the 90s!
harp1925 9 months ago
@harp1925 WHEN JORDAN CAME TO CHICAGO IN 1984 THE BULLS WERE THE 2º WORST TEAM OF THE LEAGUE. YEARS LATER HE GAVE THEM 6 CHAMPIONSHIPS...jordan beat the magic johnson,s lakers 4-1, the champions-pistons 4-0, the ewing knicks , the drexler blazers 4-2 , the barkley suns 4-2, the stockton and malone jazz (4-2 in 2 consecutive finals)...all the members of the famous 1992 dream team were schooled by jordan. always the same result: jordan always winning... casuality? he is simply the G.O.A.T !!!!!!
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov None of the guys u mention are in the same league of jabbar, moses malone, doc...etc. Jordan deserves a place as one of the greatest, but ewing, barkly, k malone, stockton, please. Notice magics lakers, no jabbar, no titles, fact. Pistons title run cut short, expansion draft, lost mahorn. Magic five titles in the eighties, facing real super teams, birds celtics, docs sixers, bad boy pistons. Remember who owned the bulls before mahorn left, thats right the pistons! Not the G.OA.T
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 1- ricky mahorn? is this a joke? from 1986 to 1989 mahorn averaged 6 points and 7 rebounds per game !!! poor poor poor numbers...2- super teams in the 80,s??? another joke? tell me 1 team of legend in the 80,s in the west... lakers were lucky because they were in all the finals because the rest of the teams in the west weren,t great teams 3- barkley, ewing, stockton, malone, drexler were part of the 1992 dream team, the greatest team ever...
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov Mahorn, a joke? tell him that and get destroyed, the fiercest pick setter ever! Celtics, sixers, pistones, bucks hawks, bulls. Barkley, ewing, stockton-should have been isaiah, malone did not make that team the greatest. Bird, Magic, Jordan-made that team great. If we r talkin goat, Russell is tha G.O.A.T of champions. Chamberlain is the G.O.A.T of individual talent. The eighties lakers, made the west look weak, a testament to their greatness!.
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 the lakers were the greatest team in the west in the 80,s of course (magic , worthy 21 points per game from 86 to 92, wilkes 21 points per game from 80 to 83, jabbar 23 points per game from 80 to 87, nixon, scott, cooper...) but everybody knows in the west in the 80,s there were not good teams...in the east were celtics all the decade and sixers from 80 to 1985 and pistons from 87-90 but in the west there were shit so lakers go to finals and lost 4-0 in 1983 4-0 in 1989 or 4-1 in 1991
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov Stats don't mean anything. In 83 worthy broke his leg, in 89, scott and magic were injured, 91, jabbar was retired. The 87 lakers would have kicked th bulls ass, the 86 and 87 celtics owned the bulls 3-0, 3-0, mmm with m.j. on the team, LOL! Jordan, like any other player needed great players to win, fact. By himself, the bulls were a joke!
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 1- in 1983 worthy only played 25 minutes per game 2- in 1987 celtics 3- bulls 0 .do you wanna know why? celtics: 5 all stars in his initial team (johnson, ainge, machale, bird and parish) bulls initial team : jordan and...listen please: STEVE COLTER !!! BRAD SELLERS !!! DAVE CORZINE !!!! and charles oakley... LOL ) 3- in 1991 jabbar wasn,t there so you give me the reason...without great players magic bird or jordan are nothing but jordan had not players like magic and bird.
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov Wrongo, when bird came in the league in 79, the Celtics went from 32 wins to 61 wins and lost in the semifinals to the sixers. At the time the greatest single year improvement in league history. Jordan won titles with Pippen, Grant, Kukoc, Rodman, pretty good players. If he didn't have these players he would have no titles. Also, the league turned weak and outlawed the tough bad boy way of basketball, giving the Jordan game a free pass, fact. BTW, Russell 11 titles Jordan 6.
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 1- with 5 all stars in your team or with the greatest center ever in your team is easier to win. but JORDAN won 6 CHAmps with just scottie pippen and the rodman rebounds..grant , kukoc, paxson were a good players of course but was paxson better than byron scott or dany ainge? was kukoc better than worthy or wilkes? was grant better than machale? cartwright or longley better than kareem or parish? of course not..with a worst players around jordan 6 rings, bird 3..jordan 6 rings, magic 5.
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov Pippen was as good as wilkes or worthy, Rodman is the best rebounder of the decade, Michael needed help, fact. Russell 11 jordan 6. Jabbar 6 Jordan 6 Bird and Magic played in a tougher era, the nineties sucked, shawn kemp, barkely, malone, had nothin on bird, magic of the eighties. Put the 90s bulls in the eighties they might win a couple titles. The nineties were sad. Jordan was great, but Russell G.O.A.T.
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 11- russell GOAT? he was a great defensive player but not a great ofensive player (15 ppg) and he played in a easier era 2- jordan needed help, of course but you compare those initial teams: celtics (bird+ 4 all stars: d johnson, ainge, machale and parish) lakers (magic + 3 all stars: nixon, wilkes, kareem+ rambis) bulls : jordan +1 all star: pippen+ paxson grant cartwright)...3- the 80,s was an easy era: only lakers, celtics and sixers in the beginning and pistons at the end
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov Russel dominated defensively, 11 championships, Jordan 6, no comparison, Russell GOAT. Rambis-all star? Ainge All Star? What about Grant, and Rodman. Rodmans 15 boards per game, bailed th bulls out many times. The nineties were the weakest era since the early 70s, fact. Expansion, deaths, rule changes-pussyifying the league, suspensions-tarpley, made the nineties weak. The eighties had two all time classic finals, 84 and 88. The nineties one 94, when jordan retired. 80s>90s!
harp1925 8 months ago
THAT WAS THE "GREAT" LEVEL IN WEST
guspopov 8 months ago
@guspopov Russell 11 titles=G.O.A.T, fact, deal wid it! In the 80s the bucks won their division for 6 straight years and did not make th finals, a clear indicator of how tough it was. In the wake of the ABA NBA merger, the league emerged in the 80s then descended in the 90s, caused by expansion and a bunch of dopes, Bias, Tarpley, Kemp...etc. Jordan had it easy after the Pistons got old. Before Pippen and Grant, Jordan couldn't even win a playoff game, fact.
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 1- russell GOAT? he was a great defensive player but in ofensive playing...pfffff...and he was maybe the worst shooter in nba history (56% in free throw line) how can HE BE the goat if he,s maybe the worst shooter ever? LOL good joke for you.. 2- lakers were champs in a conference with only 1 team with more of 50 wins...that,s the real level in nba teams. numbers dont lie and you know it... 3- 1991 finals : bulls 4 -- lakers 1 that,s the real truth...
guspopov 8 months ago
@harp1925 russell cant be the greatest when he got dominated by wilt on a individual level..he was a great leader but also had an advantage by having alot of HOF on his team...jordan swept the pistons in 91 who were the 2 times defending champs & 3 times conference defending champs & they were not old dumars was 27, thomas was 29 rodman 29, aguirre 31, laimbeer 33..how is that old? on top of that they were ranked #1 in the NBA in defense that year..bulls just finally matured to a better team
CHITOWN1987 8 months ago
@harp1925 and i saw you write that the league outlawed the pistons way of basketball to give jordan a free pass...well explain to me what kind of style did the knicks play? is that the type of play your talking about when you say the league got pussified???..that didnt happen til the 2000's when they started outlawing hand checking and getting real strict with the technical & flagrant fouls
CHITOWN1987 8 months ago
@CHITOWN1987 Obviously you were not around in the eighties, the greatest era of NBA ball ever. After M.J. cried about the pistons way of playing basketball was bad for the league, the flagrant foul was added, and the bulls sweep the pistons, with a crucial flagrant called against the pistons early in the series, pretty much letting the pistons know physical play would not be tolerated. The knicks were choirboys nest to the pistons. The rules changed when the bad boys ruled, fact.
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 your acting as if the pistons were dominating the bulls..sure they were winning the previous years but its evident that the bulls were improving as a team in 88 they lost in 5, 89 they lost in 6, in 90 they lost in gm 7 then 91 they overcame and swept them..your going to say that the 92 bulls knicks series couldnt compare at all to 80's physical play?..In the 80's it wasnt as if they pistons stopped mj they were just a better team jordan still dominated them from an individual level
CHITOWN1987 8 months ago
@CHITOWN1987 Before the 89-90 season the Pistons lost Rick Mahorn to the expansion draft, possibly cutting the Pistons run a couple of years short. Anyways Jordans whining led to less physical play, fact, look it up. Even in the mid eighties after Boston beat L.A. in 84 physical play was being watched more closely. During the Pistones run, Bill Laimbeer had his consecutive game streak stopped by the league officials for his physical fouls. Jordan is still an all time great, but Russel=goat!
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 russell cant be the GOAT when wilt dominated him on a individual level & it wasnt close wilt put crazy numbers on him...its just celtics had alot of talent for that time..russell's rookie year his teamate won ROY & his other teamate won MVP he had a team at one point with 9 hall of famers..if he is the GOAT why was he consistently on the 2nd all-nba team..im not a fan of just going by rings there has to b a level of individual dominance for that players era compared to his peers
CHITOWN1987 8 months ago
@CHITOWN1987 Russell won in college and the pros, notice how the celtics won most of their titles after he joined them. He dominated defensively. Wilt could be the greatest individual talent, but Russell was an 11 time champ-hard to top that, Jordan, Jabbar, Magic, Bird, no one is close. His impact was greater than his stats. Russell-goat.
harp1925 8 months ago
@harp1925 so where does sam jones rank in all-time then? he is a 10-time champ...he was a mutiple time all-star and made 2nd-all nba as well and led those celtics teams in scoring mutiple times on their way to championships..i understand that russell impact can be more than his stats but when the gap statistically is so large it makes a bold statement..the celtics won just cuz they had alot more talent...bill's best scoring season is wilts 13th best scoring season, bill's best reb. season (cont)
CHITOWN1987 8 months ago
CHITOWN1987 8 months ago 6
@CHITOWN1987 Basketball is a TEAM game, Russell was a TEAM player, Russell-GOAT. Wilt played on talented teams, 76ers, lakers, monster talents, probably more so than the celtics, but Russell knew how to win in college and the pros. Wilt is great but did not have the winning edge russell did, fact!
harp1925 6 months ago
@harp1925 wilt had more talent on his teams?? in '60 (wilts rookie year) wilt had 3 other people average double figures, bill had 6 other players average double figures, in '61 wilt had 1 player score over 15 ppg and bill had 5 other players average 15ppg or more...im not about to go through every year...yes wilt had some talented team but that celtic dynasty was crazy...at one point 9 HOF's on one team? & u want to say wilt probably had more talent than those celtic teams?...its evident (CONT)
CHITOWN1987 6 months ago
@CHITOWN1987 Man, harp it looks like my man chitown got you on this, the man definantly has done his homework. Props to you on that CHI, you ain't just arguing without some facts, you got very valid points. Harp you got good points too, i'm just more inclined to agree with CHITOWN on this one. It's good though for people to be able to disagree and debate on points in an intelligent and insightful manner, and gentlemen i think that's what we have here. Even if we agree to disagree, keep it fun.
delfra70 6 months ago
@harp1925 dat we're not going 2 agree so ur entitled 2 think russell is da goat & ill stick with mj...i honestly feel that kareem & wilt both should be ranked above russell easily...ill just say this again how can he b da goat wen wilt was da reason he was on the 2nd all-nba team almost every year of his career...how can he be the goat when he wasnt even considered the best center during his own time..he might have a better legacy but he wasnt a better player i think u just focus 2 much on rings
CHITOWN1987 6 months ago
@harp1925 Well i was around.Dog i keep hearing you yappin' and runnin' off at the mouth about how MJ was whinning about the physical play of the pistons.I remeber those days well, and dude the PISTONS did used to beat the shit outta MJ, he took some big pounding. However let me set you straight on somethin' youngyin, MJ took his lickins and kept on tickin. So MJ complained sometimes, but he still was droppin' gems like this 61 point beauty and 59 at detroit, he is the GOAT bruh.
delfra70 6 months ago
@delfra70 Well since your yappin bruh, Jordan is not the goat. Most championships russell-11, most records wilt. MJ is the greatest 2 guard-but not the goat. He dominated a weakened league, to much expansion, No len bias, no roy tarpley, the pistons lose rick mahorn, no kareem-magic, and Bird late in his career. Jordan had several losing seasons, unti Pippen and grant came along. But, I'm not going to rip on MJ, In his best years he was the best, but so was magic, bird, kareem, russell,
harp1925 6 months ago
@harp1925 Yeah, yeah, yeah. true that russell is the king of championships, i wont debate that, and wilt the stilt owns a gang of nba records, no doubt about it. Now answer me this, how many playoff and finals records do wilt own, and compare that to MJ's,see i got you in a dilema my man. Mj is not considered the (argubly) best because of what he did in the regular season, but the post season. You earn money and get stats in the regular season, you earn your legendary status in the postseason.
delfra70 6 months ago
@delfra70 You cannot compare playoff records, when Russell played there were less playoff series. Jordan played in an era where an extra series was added. Russell and Wilt would have played in quarters, conference finals, finals. Jordan would have played one more round for 15 years potentially adding 45 more games to his playoff record. You can only rate someone by how they performed during their era. MJ was the best in the 90s, Bird-Magic 80s, Jabbar, 70s, Russell, Wilt 60s. All are goats
harp1925 6 months ago
@harp1925 Yes there we're more playoff games played in Mj's era. But remember, there is a dissadvantage to playing more playoff games as well, it takes a toll on you.And MJ is the only player i know who's playoff avg jumps up in the playoffs, that's not a coincidence bruh.Mj by far has the highest scoring avg. in NBA history, the most dominate player in finals history. But all we're great, MJ,MAGIC,RUSSELL,WILT,JABBAR,BIRD,etc...yes, they are all goats.Players today don't come compare to them.
delfra70 6 months ago
@harp1925 jordan had several losing seasons without pip?? he had 2!! with that 2nd one needing to win 1 more game to be .500...people always say jordan couldnt do nothing til pip and grant showed up but never mention pip & grant werent even starters their first year and only averaged 8ppg yet da bulls won 50 games..pip wasnt an allstar til 1990 and in 1991 when the bulls won their 1st title and 1998 in their last title jordan was the only allstar on that team
CHITOWN1987 6 months ago
@CHITOWN1987 Stats, all star games, don't mean nuthin, look at russell g.o.a.t, without massive points, but controlled games with defense.
harp1925 6 months ago
@harp1925 and your saying jordan couldnt control the game with defense...he is in the convo as the best perimeter defender in history (alltime leader in blocks 4 a guard,3rd all time in stls, only player to have 200&100 DPOY while averaging 35ppg, 9time all nba defense) & the best offensive player in history....so in your eyes the greatest of all time is someone who can dominate only half the game which is only the defensive side of the court (except when facing wilt which we already gone over)
CHITOWN1987 6 months ago

@TheLegacy125 No Lebrick os the most oeverrated player
chitownref 1 year ago

Jordan will always be the greatest. His agility, footwork, quickness and shot fakes created shots that Lebron or D-Wade couldn't even fathom. Kobe doesn't fake as much and is not nearly as quick, but his agility creates shot opportunities also, which is why he can get to the finals consistently, with or without Shaq.
aboverim 1 year ago
@aboverim Kobe could not win without a dominant center, MJ could. Do not compare them. What did Kobe do when Shaq left? Jerry hooked him up with Gasol to bail him out.
123bigr 1 year ago
@123bigr Why did you bother responding, don't compare them?? You are also comparing them by saying Kobe can't win without a dominant center while Jordan can. You are only adding to my statement about how Jordan will always be the greatest.
aboverim 1 year ago
@aboverim I responded because you mentioned Kobe on a MJ video, you nut. I gave you an example of why you should not compare them. It was in response to your comment about Kobe's agility allowing him to go to the finals with or without Shaq. Kobe did not do crap until Gasol came along, where did his agility get him before that? Lastly, Kobe should be mentioned with Wade, so go to his video. I am going back to enjoying MJ.
123bigr 1 year ago
@123bigr You bigr dummy, all great players need solid teammates along side them. Jordan struggled his first seven years to make the finals until Pippen and Grant became solid players. Gasol is not SHAQ. 18ppg? At best he matches Kobe's game like Pippen did Jordan. As for your responses, Kobe's name is probably mentioned on THOUSANDS of videos here on You Tube, why choose mine to respond to, Dummy? You spend your life responding to EVERYONE who mentions Kobe on a Jordan video? Get a life loser.
aboverim 1 year ago
@aboverim Where is all this hostility coming from?LOL. I agree that Gasol is not A prime Shaq, but he was the most complete center in the league when he arrived and he still may be, plus with Bynum, he moves to forward sometimes. Kobe has two of the top 5 big men in the game today, plus Od and his team still struggles. To answer your question, no I do not spend my life responding to everyone who mentions Kobe one a MJ video, but I hit a few chumps like u when I happen to cross paths.LMAO
123bigr 1 year ago
@123bigr Chump? who you callin' chump FOOL? You're just a Jordan jock rider cause you know nothing else. Gasol's a FORWARD, having his best offensive season in 5 years with Kobe struggling, and it still isn't dominant. Bynum hasn't played a full season in 5 years. Odom's a pothead and Phil Jackson's Yin has lost it's yang. Kobe's game is very sub-par COMPARED to Jordan's Bulls, but for his career Kobe has made it work. 7 finals appearances puts him in a much higher class than Wade and Lebron
aboverim 1 year ago
@aboverim You are funny. I laugh every time I read your comment. BTW, I forgot to mention Artest.
Gasol is a Center/forward u nut, so relax. I tell u what, if Jerry did not hook his boy up with Gasol, those last two rings would not exist. Kobe could not win with a mid level center. He has to have a dominate big man in order to win. How many teams have won rings without a solid big man? Your answer is why MJ is above all others. Now leave me alone chump.LOL
123bigr 1 year ago
@123bigr Kobe has not played with a dominant center since SHAQ. Gasol hasn't played center since high school, FOOL! Even my trusty NBA ALL STAR BALLOT lists GASOL as FORWARD. You Jordan-jock sniffers need to come up for air once in a while aside from me mentioning Kobe in a video. I've already stated Kobe is great, and Jordan is the greatest, but Jordan isn't perfect either. 61 points & needs overtime to beat a pre-champ Piston team? And who was their dominant center, LAIMBEER? IDIOT.
aboverim 1 year ago
@aboverim Didn't I tell u to leave me alone Chump? Gasol is a forward/center, therefore your comment about him not playing center since high school is wrong. Look at the previous All star list and see what they put next to Gasol. U are ignorant as they come. When Bynum is hurt or not on the court, who plays center(most of the time)? The Pistons had Laimbeer, Salley(sp), Rodman, Rick and Buddha, so take your pick.BTW, I said Kobe needs a dominate center to win not the pistons.
123bigr 1 year ago
@123bigr You spew out nonsense. Gasol is a Forward. PF means Power Forward, dummy. You're such a dummy, LMAO, you can't read? If Gasol were a true dominant center, young Bynum would come off the bench. LMAO. BTW, Gasol himself isn't even a DOMINANT player. Seven years on the Grizzlies Gasol made All-Star Team ONCE. Dominant my ass, He's only above average at best. So Kobe needing a dominant big man is IRRELEVANT. If Gasol were so dominant he'd be star of the Lakers, like SHAQ was, dummy.
aboverim 1 year ago
@123bigr If you were to cut out your foolish responses you would realize that THIS VIDEO is Jordan against the Pistons. Neither team had a dominant center and both won championships. I bet if I mention Isiah's quickness and court awareness you would take issue with that too. A true NBA fan would appreciate and understand that, unlike you simple-minded Jordan fanatics, who prefer to just ride the jock-strap of ONE player. Tell Jordan how his ass tastes.

In short, GOAT, and nobody is even close.

why is kobe in this conversation. he's no where near jordan status. just look at the video and the competition jordan played against. there wasnt any touch foul calls and u had better centers guarding the paint with no 3 second rules and hand check calls. there's no more than a solid 10 great people in the NBA so stop comparing kobe stats to jordans cause there's NO comparison!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Kobe scored 62 points vs Dallas Mavericks in the 2006 season, in just 3 quarters. Just analyze it.
mariomarcano 2 years ago
Incorrect, these Pistons set records for lowest points allowed by an opponent and for points allowed per possession by an opponent. It is a MUCH bigger accomplishment to light up the best defense ever than it is to light up the Mavericks, who i love dearly but don't play defense all that well against pesky little guards. Mike also scored his 60+ point games on 70% shooting, Kobe does it with many many more shots and freethrows.
81broncoman 2 years ago 2

jayrock1987 2 years ago
kobe can't beat a team like MJ did in his time in the NBA.

Some people are under the illusion that that the league is better now than it was in Jordan's day; the players today are far superior, Jordan never had to face zone defenses etc. The opposite is true; the league was more talented in the 80's & early 90's, handchecking was allowed, there was no 3 second rule in the paint, and Jordan still dominated.

myke23111 1 year ago
@dafoo28 Most centers today don't even play behind the basket. They would rather face up and use their size and speed to score easy points. And even they don't block well either. They usually just smash the ball and not keep it in play so their teammates can probably snag it and run in transition for a quick score.

@moybutter What is crazy is that Mj played great in the 80s,90s and even when he was on the Wizards being past his prime. wifey4lifey101 2 years ago

Pierce..
