The swords used in these videos are not correct. The correct sword should be the Japanese Nodachi, which are longer and more realistic when used on the battle field. Try and use the katana against spears and a good sword man will be easily pierced through by a mediocre spear man.

This sword is called Miao Dao. I've got the feeling that the person wielding the sword in this video only copied the movements from the book they're trying to sell. You can't learn martial arts from a book, and that practitioner is also using a Japanese Bokken instead of a real Miao Dao.
