  • I assume you are posting the NHK World clips? If so, thank you VERY, VERY much. I just wish that we received NHK World in NY, instead of just the plain old NHK on TVJapan.

  • No - it's regular NHK from TVJapan. Check out a channel here called hpeterswald - he posts the NHK World Sumo highlight show in English.

  • Well, thank you anyway. you have very good insight into sumo and would make a good color commentator. Maybe if they would get rid of Clyde Newton............:-)

  • try to get yamamotoyama plz

  • he fell out of makuuchi this basho, and I think is either injured or fighting in the Juryo division. We'll see if he makes a come back in March in Osaka

  • ah icy. he's interesting cuz he's so big. anyways do u live in japan or california. i really want to visit japan it has such a rich culture. i would actually love to settle there, hows it like? u seem to have lived there for a while and know the country.

  • My main channel - Myargonauts - is all about living and working in Japan.

But right now I am back in America.

  • you have lost weight!

    thanks for posting!

  • Hello, Jason. Thank you very much for posting sumo clips as always. I look forward to your clips of HATSU-basho. By the way, you should become a sumo commentator.

  • thanks for watching!

  • Does anyone know how old Asashoryu and Hakuho were when they were recruited and how they were found?

I know the scouts from each heya are always looking out for kids with potential all over the world. They must be making more frequent trips to Mongol than any other countries now.

  • Accrding to Wikipedia about Asa:

He originally came to Japan as an exchange student at Meitoku Gijuku High School in Kochi Prefecture, and he trained at the sumo club there.

  • Accrding to Wiki about Hakuho:

He came to Japan in October 2000 when he was fifteen years old, invited by pioneering Mongolian rikishi Kyokushūzan.

Both Asa and Hakuho have family members who were well known in Mongolian wrestling.

  • @JasoninJapan

    Thanks!!

I guess the key to a successful career in sumo is to choose the parents carefully. ^_^ Same as the successful basketball player.

I hope sumo as an amateur sport gets more popularity in the rest of the world. We need a place for big people to shine and get healthier at the same time.

  • BTW when are you going back to Japan and as ESL man?

I support one previous comment that either NHK and Sumo Authority should leave your videos alone if they would not pay for your voluntairy promoting of sumo.

  • hopefully in March to see the tourney in Osaka.

  • Kotooshu bouts would be appreciated.

  • Yeah, yeah, yeah!

More 高見 the "Robo Cop" 盛, please!!

    ; D

  • I saw this video and said, "Sumo season!!", aloud and got funny looks for my efforts. I don't care though.. Thanks for the vids, Jason :)

  • haha! :)

  • Thanks, Jason.

    NHK should pay you.

  • Show Baruto matches. He has become one of my top 3 favorites in sumo. Also if you could show Kotomitsuki as well. =)

    -Billy-

  • We have to see who will win our Baruto wager this year. :)

  • looking foward the covering of the hatsu bashou, thanks for the work!
