  • is it possible to make a new keyboard for symbian 3(anna or belle) and sell it in the ovi store :D?

  • @leabuelo Of course. Just contact Nokia.

  • @PaniqFoxx i think im going to be all over them until they make it like the n9 :D

  • Yes even I am getting the same error 131073! Looking for the fix...

  • when i try to run on device i get this error: "error: Installation failed: 'Missing dependency: Qt, need version 4.07(3) or newer' Code: 131073;"

  • @Itomotu: I'm facing a problem where I've the Qt Creator installed in my pc and the Simulator as well but the Simulator isn't show up in the Qt Version. I can't run my built application on Simulator because I can't find in anywhere in my Qt Creator. Please help. thanks.

  • @Victor5197 Have you tried to update Qt SDK? After install, make sure to update it by SDKMaintenanceTool->Updater and install tools that you need (Simulator, Harmattan etc.) in SDKMaintenanceTool->Package manager.

  • Itumotu is active member of forum Nokia & has a QML project in Nokia projects but the fact is QML IS NOT SUPPORTED IN OVISTORE Nokia has just a planned E6 QML device Nokia installer doesn't support QML Nokia 's OS is Windows Mobile Pl check forum Nokia for facts I appreciate Itomuto's unwavering support for Qt but its a fact that Nokia unfortunately has dumped Qt developers and has destroyed itself

  • @rselva123 Sorry for seeing this comment late, but better answer it now than never: Qt 4.7 and thus QML is not yet accepted in Ovi Store but as you said above, there isn't yet even a final SDK out so which QML should be accepted? New technology, like QML, needs a bit of time to mature, and we cannot simply rush it to the huge market of compatible phones without proper testing and quality assurance. It is however NOT dead. Not by far.

  • Qt has been kicked out with Nokia Microsoft deal in which Nokia will be the errand boy of Microsoft

  • @rselva123 Qt is very much in, and will stay in for years to come, both on desktop and mobile space. Try Qt Quick to see why ...

  • @ltomuta Unfortunately Mr.Elope (Nokia CEO) has clearly stated that Windows Mobile will be the operating system for Nokia . There will be no Qt . Even Meago is 'experimental'. There is no device running Qt 4.7 (for Qt quick). Nokia. OviStore does not even accept Qt quick based software. There will be only one device (Nokia E7) which will have Qt 4.7 & Qt quick built in. Nokia smart installer doesn't update Qt 4.6 to Qt 4.7

  • @rselva123 You are right about one thing only: there will be no Qt on Windows Phone. But there will be plenty of Symbian devices still (150 millions announced) in additions to the ones existing on the market already. Nokia N900 has Qt 4.7 already and full QML support will be released soon for Symbian as well (RD capability already exists for 3rd party developers, on all S60 3.1+ devices). Your information about E7 and about what Smart Installer can/will do is wrong. More info @ Forum Nokia

  • @ltomuta Are you saying OviStore accepts Qt Quick apps? Do you really believe Nokia will sell 150 million phone? Do you seriously believe all existing s60 devices will have Qt quick? Are you serious? You have admitted there won't be any Nokia windows phone with Qt. So despite Elope's announcement you believe Nokia will still make Qt phones?

  • @rselva123 Yes, Nokia N900 PR 1.3 supports Qt 4.7 and therefore it does support QML. You can publish Qt apps with QML for N900 in the Ovi Store. Qt 4.7 support for Symbian is coming as well.

Nokia will sell a lot of Symbian phones in the coming years and together with the current existing install base the conclusion is that one cannot ignore the Symbian platform and Qt on top of it, it is a great open market.

Developing with Qt is easy, the market is big enough, so I don't see the problem.

  • @rselva123 Of course, you don't have to create apps for Symbian with Qt. Nor do you have to do it at all. I hope you're living in a free country :)

  • what happen to qt with recent nokia strategy?

  • Thanks for video, Lucian.

  • Does Qt SDK for Symbian work on Ubuntu? Of course Qt Creator works, but does this "compile and execute the program on the target device"-part work like demonstrated in the video?

  • @juzzlin Have a look at youtube.com/watch?v=YdgAFwzjsE8 for a possible solution for Linux, the Remote compiler.

  • Hey please tell me which software did he used to show Phone's View? I just noted the title bar saying "Phone Viewer" in the video at 05:29. but I could not find any software named that.

Please tell me if any one of you knows about such a software which I could use to remotely access the Nokia N8. I used mVNC previously with earlier versions of Symbian but that didn't work with Nokia N8.

  • @bellskar The phone viewer is not released publicly, sorry. There are of course similar commercial solutions such as h**p://mobileways.de/products/remotepro/remote-professional/
