  • this is a variation of the original riff?

  • Is there a "that was bad ass button?"

  • is this gibson les paul ? what is this guitar

  • @TheBlackhawk7alpha I haven't played during the summer break, so I guess that's the problem =)

  • Christ, is it normal that you need to press those first three real hard? My finger hurts after pressing it for less than a minute, is that normal?

  • Comment removed

  • i don't get it

  • Learned it in 1 minute, thanks for this lesson !

  • this lesson is great! It really helps, with the tabs and everything, thanks a lot

  • Great as always.

    Cheers

  • wow i learned this in about 5 minutes... on acoustic! thanks a lot man!!!

  • 0:02 shouldn't the last note in that tab be one string lower?

  • @lompel

Uhh idk if u kno this but ozzy was the singer for black sabbath :o

  • sounds great! is this how sabbath plays it???

  • ITS TO FAST!!!!!

but thats a nice song yeah!!!

  • ITS TO FAST!!!!!

  • thanks you my fingers hurt alot when i play it in the 12 fret

  • about the bars on the music sheet things, is that which way to strum? im used to tabs

  • theres always different ways to play each song.. obviously this guy learned it by ear like we all should

  • what bothers me is that I dont have a clue what you are doing with our other hand!!!!?

  • Thanks man!

  • i know this song ..bu t WTF i forget it.... well i have to sleep cya

  • Nice playing dude. Thanks for the vid.

  • I dont get it.

  • how should i play with my thumb?

  • Thanks for that :o)

As a 47 year old, just starting to play the guitar that was a brilliant instructional piece. I can do that, (most of the time) now.

  • Nice vid.... very clear and helpful, excellent lesson

  • this is not from black sabbath this is ozzy live...

album is 12-14 on 1st and 2nd snare from bove.

  • u r fricking amazing!!!! and nice guitar

  • you should show your picking hand too

  • the intro is not right

the last hammer on the A string 9h fret

  • Im just starting to play guitar and im wondering whats the best thing to start practicing?

  • Intro is incorrect...last note is an A

  • The benefit of playing 7 - 9 frets is that you are nearer the starting position for the solo ( ie 9th fret bend etc ) Sorry too technical maybe. Great vid' . Thanks

  • You made it easier to play and the song still grabs you by the balls ...thnx

  • its the same but actually its played from 12 and 14

  • Thanks for the lesson. I knew the whole song except the intro, and now I know the intro

  • 5 Stars

  • ta buena :D

  • i don't know who you are but your lessons are by far the best and easiest to understand, thanks alot.if you could, please let me know how i can see all of your lessons, thanks.

  • Please I need the solo of MetallicA Version,, I can't find it!!! Thanks,,,

  • thanks, was able to play this song in a matter of mins!

  • I GET IT NOW ! YAY !

  • awesome tone!

  • The opening riff is played on the 12th fret of the E ..not the 7th on A... as the e root string gives it a more heavy sound.

  • awesome lesson

  • hey umm on the tabs the final power chord you play is written as 7,8,9 and you're playing it 7,9,9 which sounds correct but since i am a newbie i'm kinda confused so i thought i'd ask

  • What amp are you using?

  • seems megadeth version -D

  • hey bud wot amp an effects you usin??

  • hey man this is cool i like it \m/ i just saw this video just today

  • Comment removed

  • Thanks for the lesson,i'm learning and this riff was fun to learn.

  • Me and my mate tryed to put 2 lead guitars on this.

one playing as you do adn one playing and me playin on 2 fet down it sounded like a Ryhtmic METAL!

oh sorry love you'r vids hate the short time you play them!

    4/5

  • intro is wrong

  • Thanks man you are a guitar hero!!!! L.O.L

  • this is one of the best paranoid riff lessons ive found on da net.. nice one bro..

  • Massa !!!

  • wo wo, man what fuck quest U¿

  • ive figured it out i just need to go see the guy at the music hause no more online lessons till i actualy know how to play

  • wow....I dont know which is correct, you playing 7 and 9 or the tabs 12 and 14.... octaves.

    i prefer 12 and 14

  • Me too!

  • @gold3npimp yes,,, me to

  • @gold3npimp If you listen to it carefully you can tell that the notes on the 7th fret of the A-string and 12th fret of the E-string are the exact same so both ways are correct.

  • Comment removed

  • @gold3npimp

    Me too, I prefer 12 & 14 ^^

  • @gold3npimp its the same, but the 12 and 14 i dont really know how to express this but the sound there sounds more loose or bassy

  • @lotrringereras It’s called timbre. I’ve heard it described as the texture of a note. The notes are the same but the sound is different. The strings have different timbres at the same note because of the different diameters.

  • @gold3npimp both work, they're both the same note, just a different octave.

  • @gold3npimp the real is 7 and 9

  • Thanks for the vid. Quick question about the bit from 1:13 onwards. I'm guessing its the same shape at the other frets as well, but what are you actually doing? Is it A on the 7th fret, D on the 9th and G on the 9th with your little finger as well? Or are you playing other bits in there as well? As you can tell, not exactly an advanced guitarist here! Cheers.

  • damn all you guys are stupid. i found this helpful it was fun to play and i can practice my index finger barring up and down. the idea is to help beginners. say what you want but this is paranoid by black sabbath.

  • Correct - glad it helped you.

  • @classicrockriffs it remind me of dazed and confused

  • it doesnt matter where you play it on the fretboard as long as you play the correct notes

  • nice played and nice les paul :)

  • Check out Geetar02 and the way he plays the intro..I really think you're playing the intro wrong; tonni iommi does not play the same notes in the opening riff over and over..eg: A string 12-14 fret, and D string 12-14th fret over and over...it's not right....check Geetar02.......

  • sound great!

  • are you picking in the begining?

  • @xra3ger0 Pick the first note of each pair and hammer on the second note, cheers.

  • @kamikazearttu If i yell ''play iron man'' would you play it?? hahaha....

  • much easier

    thank you

    greets from Germany

  • that really helped me a lot

  • Ummh.. hi :P Im a new beginner playing guitar, and umh i want to learn how to play this song.. How do i make my guitar sound like yours ?

  • chnage it from clean to dirty on the amp

  • good job

  • Ive been thinking about learning guitar for quite a while. What kind of guitar do you have exactly? Im kinda stuck at the moment because I dont know anything about the different types, let alone how they sound. But this is the exact type of guitar Id like to play, its got the sound I really love.

    Cheers!

  • Depends on it, what type of music do you want to play? I think he has got a Gibson There And As far as i can see Its an Les Paul, They're quite expensive...

  • He plays a 1979 Gibson les paul, they're like £3000 wouldn't recommend it for a first guitar hahaha

  • Lol yeh, I wasnt expecting it to be a cheap one. Sounds cool tho!

  • oh defiantly

  • the sound is mainly in the amp but for a guitar id recomend a jackson and ibanez an epiphone fender or gibson

  • buy an epiphone its a good all-rounder and its cheaper than a gibson

  • y dont u get an ibanez gio. they r quite cheap n pretty good.

  • Thanks, Ill look into it.

  • just get whatever is cheaper

  • @ the beginning you had it all wrong you were going way to fast

  • do u play all strings or just those three

  • those three.

  • this is a pretty good version too

especially for beginners its easier than at the 12th

    sorry bout all the haters

  • thanks dude its easy to play btw its good if u can provide a full tabs :D

  • man ur a legen,thx verry much i got this 1st pop

    feel free to msn me,adam.lockley@y7mail

cheers budd u fukking rock and have better tutorials than anyone here and ur guitar is awesome

i have a flying v with 8 pikkups custom built and im in a band called error64

  • Wow, thanks. 8 Pickups! impressive - I'd like to see that...

  • @adamsexy69er error64 is an awseome name youve just earned 1 more fan lol

  • Hey I know how to play the song itself, but can u tell me the amp settings needed 2 get this soud?

  • i dont understand anything

  • wow nice

  • i can't understand the intro can someone explane it

    ?

  • Use your 1st finger to bar the A and D string at 7th fret, play these two strings together then almost immediately hammer on to the 9th fret of the D string with your 3rd finger. Hope that helps, cheers.

  • nice thx man 6/5

  • eva873able there are 2 ways to play the song,Tony Iommi originally played it on the 12th fret

  • i play the intro in the a power chord on the 12. fret, so i dont know ?

  • that's wrong then man this vid is right

  • NO IOMMI PLAYS IT ON THE 12th FRET, HE'S WRONG.

  • you play on 12th fret if you tune your guitar up but if not this is corect

  • its both good ;)

  • wow this looks easy

  • thanks you very much

  • I need help.

  • i probably a little slow at this so i have more to go through. ill check with my guitar teacher

  • you do that....

  • well my friend (who is better at guitar then me) HATES barre chords (also them in tabs) because its hard to reach out for them. I'm just a little slow by doing the paraniod tabs. although I keep practicing. and my guitar teacher is in the military right now. I can do sweet child O mine correctly.

  • oh damn i was doin it the hard way, stupid nonspacific books! thanks man!!!

  • For people saying this isnt the right way to play... the 12th fret on the low e string is E and 7th fret on the a string is E as well. So its the same note.

Either way you'll be hitting the right notes..just if you want the same feel tony iommi uses for the song then start on the 12th fret.

Either way its gonna sound fine.

  • i play this song starting with my index finger on the 12th fret

  • you good at guitar but hat wasnt right

  • sos un genio gracias

  • dude or dudeet this song is so easy it not even funny

  • i wish i can play as good as yall

  • damn you talented bastards...=D great riffs.

  • Practically taught us the whole song minus the solo. Very efficient and effective teaching style... good work! 5*

  • wat frets are those?

    and kick ass man

  • super

  • Hey thanks for taking the time to help out with all the videos =) I'm about to have the dog and kids running for cover when I crank up the Sabbath and play along~

  • ORCHA13....Sabbath did not steal this riff from Zeppelin's "Walters Walk" ok? Paranoid come out in 1970......Walter Walk ...1982

  • no u guys dont know its from a part of dazeds and comfused from album one gosh guys get it right walter's walk has a much better rithem it from dazed and conpused the intro from paranoid is part of the bridge of dazed and confused

  • this black sabbath people

  • what???? that is ZEPPELIN !!!!!

  • Sorry dude, but you are completely wrong. This is Black Sabbath

  • first im a girl. second im sure thats the intro of led zeppelin also. maybe i'll check which song somewhen

  • There is no way that is zeppelin. That is Black Sabbath. Tell me what zeppelin song that is. Ive seen Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath in concert and i would of known if Black Sabbath stole a riff from Led Zeppelin.

  • ok , its not the same but it sounds very alike and very similar to Walter's Walk by zeppelin thou it isn't precisely same. i don't know if thats stealing.... it sounds similar doesn't it ?

  • msk8wwe OK...Enough of your bull shit. You've never seen Zeppelin live unless you saw them when you were 3 years old. The band broke up in 1980

  • I saw them in the 2007 reunion in The Arena, London, UK.

  • Don't you mean London's 02 Arena?

  • Yes. Thats what i mean. And I saw Black Sabbath in Germany a couple of years ago.

  • Ya, Heavan And Hell with Dio, not the same But, you're saying that you're sure that its not a Sabbath song or any riffs were stolen based on the fact that you've seen them both in concert and nothing else. I don't get it Man! You mean don't own any of their albums? How did you get Zeppelin tickets to that concert?

  • I do own Albums. I own almost all if not all Zeppelin albums and i own a couple Sabbath albums. And i won the tickets on some radio station giveaway.

  • You won the tickets on some radio station giveaway? Dude, can you be anymore vague and mellowdramatic about that? I'd at least remember the radio station...

  • Hey Atomic...are you smelling some bull shit too?

  • Ok I'm sorry that i called u a dude as ur a girl, but you are probably confusing this song song with led zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love. Rest assured, this IS Black Sabbath

  • it's ok :)

no , not whole lotta love but Walter's walk. dont you think it sounds pretty close?

  • Yeah it does... it's probably the same chords if not pretty close.

  • Im happy someone agrees with me . Thank you!

  • Comment removed

  • wtf no

  • what fert this start on

  • Is it possible to get that sound out of a vox AD15VT? I just can't seem to find a seting with that much drive. Can anyone help :(

  • I play it at the 12th fret like Iommi and its just a bassier (if thats a word) sound

  • I agree, it sounds better at the 12th

  • nice vid man..just a question..when you do the first part..do you strum the A and D strings?

  • That's right, play them both together and then hammer on the D string as the A string rigs through...

  • ok thanks man..really helped alot!..you know what man?you should really post up a vid on how to play the solo to The Trooper from Iron Maiden :D

  • the trooper is actually quite easy :-)

  • well not for me.. :[

  • Thanks!!!!

  • Really helpful videos - thanks! I read the comments, and it amazes me how much negativity there is when someone takes time to try and help others enjoy playing an instrument. As a beginner, this sort of stuff is so encouraging. Still, I suppose if people need to try and make themselves feel superior all the time we should feel sorry for them! Thanks again.

  • Thanks - glad they're helping.

Yes - YouTube has a lot of negative people wanting to take a swipe at people with no basis, no manners, no discussion, that's life I guess...

  • Dude this is so great! Thanks for posting this stuff! This lessons are so clear!

  • hey classicrockriffs, i love your videos. i have learned 3 songs just from you

    one question

what amp are you using, and any pedals?

  • Thanks,

I use a Marshall JVM410C, I use barely any effects on most vids to keep it clean - just the amp overdrive. I bit of reverb, and sometime a touch of delay.

The earlier vids are through a Line6 Vetta which is a great digital modeling amp.

  • Where did u find the tabs at?

  • Comment to redslownight

  • Good job. I must have been playing this song wrong for the past 10 years. Thanks for showing me another way of playing (the right way).
