  • If only Christopher Lee and Vincent Price had worked together. It would be pure epicness

  • 2:05 I love how almost every QI series has somebody giving an evil laugh at least once. Usually it's Alan, but Bill did a great job with this one :)

  • The Peter Cushing song is on the web. Google it! "Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable" by The Jellybottys

  • Witchfinder General was a Tigon film not a Hammer film.

  • that Vincent Price impression is masterful

  • "He don't care about Colonel Gaddafi, he's having a fag down the Tudor Café"

  • I remembered that song suddenly the other day, when I was watching Peter Cushing on the Morecambe & Wise Christmas special (1970). At the end of the show, during the credits, you hear Eric Morecambe's voice saying: "Eric Porter is an associate member of the RSC. Edward Woodward is a National Theatre player. Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable." Guess this may've been before the song, but it did amuse me

  • @YKW2 I remember that special. Wasn't he the prime minister at the end who demanded money then shouted 'AT LAST'?

  • Christopher Lee was also Scaramanga; the man with the golden gun.

  • what episode???

  • He don't care 'bout Colonel Gaddafi, he's having a fag down at Tudor Café...

    ...or something like that.

  • you dont mess with Christopher Lee who was Count Dooku and the Wizard Saruman

  • @ProcrastinatingGuy Not only that, Christopher Lee was Death! The Discworld Death, granted, but still. How can you beat being Death himself?

  • it's such an amazing vincent price impersonation

  • Aww Stephen being a fanboy!

  • if you type in peter cushing on youtube the first thing that it suggests is 'Peter cushing lives in whitstable'

  • @2112murphy Ohh yeah. I knew that he was bi polar but t never occurred to me that he might just be on a natural upper. It's nice to see him really happy though :)

  • That's about as good a Vincent Price impression I've ever heard.

  • John Carpenter approached Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee to play the Sam Loomis role in Halloween (that was eventually played by Donald Pleasence) but both turned him down,I wonder how brilliant it would have been if one ( or both) had said yes...

  • Peter Cushing's best role: Grand Moff Tarkin, Star Wars IV. "I grow tired of asking this so it will be the last time. WHERE is the rebel base..."

  • I have to say I find Stephen's story a bit fishy. While Stephen has worked with Christopher Lee, I can't find a shared credit before 2000 (Gormenghast) and Cushing died in 1994. I'd love it if someone could prove me wrong.

  • @wratched He just said he worked with him, not that he was in a film with him. Could be several possibilities really..

  • @wratched Here he only says "I was about to do a film with Christopher Lee..." Something may have fallen through where one or both of them was unable to do the film after all, and they perhaps didn't meet until later.

  • Has someone been feeding Stephen sugar? He seems slightly over-excited. Like a five year old XD

  • this is my fave episode. its so spontaneously funny..

  • I was in Whitstable two weeks ago and I sang the Peter Cushing's son to a friend. How we laughed!

  • Unbelievable.. Stephen's imitation of Sir Christopher Lee's voice is fantastic! Especcially at 0:48

  • I don´t usually say this kind of thing but.....British sense of humor is simply the best.

  • I have seen you buying vegetables :P

  • I joined Twitter just to follow Stephen and Alan.

    Forever Alone :'(

  • @AngelusDlion HEY!!!!'

    ...... yes.

  • his impressions are actually very good.

  • Happy birthdays to Mr. Cushing and Mr. Lee!

  • I didn't think it would be possible, but Stephen's voice sounds even deeper and soothing while listening to it with headphones on. (:

  • Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable,

I have seen him on his bicycle,

I have seen him buying vegetables,

    Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable.

  • @ebiljebus Thanks for providing the lyrics, they're fairly complicated I don't think I would have remembered them otherwise :P

  • What film was Stephen in with vincent?

  • @Mad4john Christpoher Lee, not Vincent Price. I don't know which film he was referring to above, but both Lee and Fry were in the TV production of Gormenghast.

  • @lomax343 thanks.... kinda hoped both vinnie and stephem were in a film together :)

  • @CommanahumOfficial Same here. We don't even have panel shows.

  • I live in whitstable...

  • You don't just call Christopher Lee up, you have to summon him.

  • Chritopher Lee is awesome.

  • Stephen Fry gets something wrong shock...."Witchfinder General" was made by Tigon & AIP, not Hammer.

  • @DidloDurante I thought that too, Price didn't do any Hammer films did he?

  • Stephen's impressions are so much fun..

  • Witchfinder General! The Devil Rides Out! Brilliant!

I must say Stephen's impression of Vincent Price is uncanny :-)

  • The song actually goes "Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable, he goes shopping on his bicycle, you can meet him buying vegetables, Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable".

  • Peter Cushing is a horror legend

  • Peter Cushing leads to explore,

I've seen him on the bus school,

I have seen him in violation

    of the thicker she's.

    WHAT?

  • "YOU SOUGHT ME!!!"

  • I love Alan's eye movements while he sings!

  • Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable

I have seen him on his bicycle

I have seen him bying vegstables

    Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable

    :D

  • "Hang on, I'll call him up. MATRUDI HABI NA-FAHTEI!"

    "You sought me?!"

  • @doctorbeepers You just don't have a sense of humor

  • 1) De-interlace the video you fool (that's what's causing those horizontal bands of arse)

    2) get the aspect ratio right

  • or else!

  • Ex~quisite.

  • He never falters, but Stephen was on a particular role on this episode.

  • "speak quietly; every sound you make is exquisite agony to me" Damn, I need that line on my voicemail.

  • Stephen does marvelous things with his voice. I really ought to buy one of the audio books he recorded.

  • do you know what episode this is from?

  • I don't know Vincent Price, but to me it sounded alot like Hannibal Lecter

  • @thebritish25

I looked him up, I know the face for sure I just didn't know his name......I'm dutch so thats my excuse I guess.

    grtzz

  • @RealFeLa Oh right I just asumed you where American Ill let you off then

  • @thebritish25

Vincent Price was from St. Louis, Missouri and educated at Yale. Not British I'm afraid but a lovely accent all the same.

  • Comment removed

  • @thebritish25

    Missouri, England. What's the diff?

  • Comment removed

  • @chetsmonkey The entire width of the Atlantic and half the width of the continent of North America....or about 4600 miles.

  • @thebritish25

Er. . .Vincent Price was born in Missouri. He is American, not British. Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, on the other hand, are English.

  • @RealFeLa Hannibal Lecter was Anthony Hopkins trying to sound like Katherine Hepburn. (Who was from Connecticut, I think.)

  • Oh, so that was where they got the idea for the sound-sensitive guy in "Elvira's Haunted Hills"!

  • Peter Cushing Lives in Whitstable Song - The Jellybottys it's funky stuff lol

  • the best QI line up ever

  • Comment removed

  • @JimmySteller Ah it would. If he weren't gay...

  • God, I love this so much.

  • Best Price yet. Lol.

  • Episode?

  • @LeftyHandedGuns I don't remember-- but I went through old series listings and the only episode with Dara, Bill and Phill as guests was in Series C (2005) #12 (Episode #36) "Combustion" - Guests: Bill Bailey, Phill Jupitus, Dara Ó Briain, Bill Bailey - Air Date: December 9, 2005

    But I could be wrong--

  • @ALAPINO Thanks a LOT for the effort!

  • @LeftyHandedGuns Hey, no worries!

I'm pretty sure it was the last series that was released on DVD as well.

  • @ALAPINO By the way, you were right about the episode (it can be found on YT, and this clip is in Part 3 of 3). :)

  • @LeftyHandedGuns Oh, awesome!

Thank YOU for your effort. ;D

  • @ALAPINO Haha, watching QI is hardly some kind of labour.

  • His Vincent Price impression is amazing!

  • "Hello who are you?"

Lol, I love that Christopher Lee impression XD

  • I love how Stephen Fry has a geek out.

  • Peter Cushing did live in Whitstable! I saw him loads. i don't recall seeing him buying vegetables

    or on his bicycle :D

  • Peter Cushing lived in Whitstable? That's like half an hour from me. No idea who he is though...!

  • Wow, so he's worked with Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Vincent Price...lucky fella.

  • Best Vincent price movie...think it was called "Last Man on Earth" where everyone gets turned into vampire-zombies except him and it's just a lot of Price going to the grocery store to get wine and massive amounts of garlic. He then proceeds to get trashed while the vampire-zombies stumble around the outside of his house yelling, "Morgan, come out!"

  • @Bardlettt It was based on I Am Legend. Read it :D

  • There are many people in the world with terrible taste! I guess one stumbled here and thumbed down! QI is really the most wonderful show. The only part that irks me is that the facts are ever changing I.e. We are flummoxed to learn there are two moons then in the next series there is 5! Maybe by now they've discovered twenty! Let's just call everything but 'the moon' satellites!

  • Who's that one person who dislikes this vid?

  • The joke Dara makes about calling him up...I was so proud of myself for doing the exact same joke a few seconds before =D

  • Does anyone know what movie it is that Stephen worked with Christopher Lee on? I'd like to see that!

  • @christelwink They were both in Gormenghast (2000) it was a mini-series by the BBC, its on youtube.

  • @Raven5677v2

    Thanks!

  • Yaaaay, Stephen! His impressions are the best. I wish he had talked more in the Christopher Lee voice.

  • I study my English by watching BBC (I'm not English) but after seeing this episode all I could think of while making the test was 'Peter Cushin lives in Whitchtable, I have seen him on a bicycle...' :s

  • Me neither!

  • "ill call him up"

    "huntalagar!!!"

"could you pass the mustard please!?!"

  • The voice he does from 1:50 onwards is fuuuuuunny! :D

  • "Peter, I have seen you buying vegetables"

    XD

  • 1:27

I have seen you buying vegetables!!!!

    EPIC LOL

  • Check out the music video of Allan Davies' "Peter Cushin Lives in Whitstable" watch?v=EoFYDlUMGqA

    VERY funny.

  • I live in Whitstable! :) nice place, you must all come and visit

  • He seems like such a little boy when he talks about "Van Helsing and Dracula on the phone together" - so adorable! The darling man... =]

  • "Van Helsing and Dracula on the phone" XD

  • Stephen Fry is the man.

Most assuredly. I just wish that they'd pick this up in the US... but.. god they'd dumb it down wouldn't they?

  • I had that very thought.

I just discovered QI two days ago, and my chest is throbbing, I've been laughing so much.

We're the land of "The Jersey Shore".

There's no way we can ever re-create this. We should just be glad it's alive somewhere on our planet.

  • Thank god for Youtube, eh?

  • In a most profound manner, indeed.

I work for a gym that caters to upper scale clientele and they do nothing but talk about the Shore. I think I need to move away from here...

  • @AngelusDlion They'd probably Americanise everything as well, like stating that WW2 started in 1941 instead of 1939.

  • @Xanatos712 Ask a Chinese person when WWII began, he'd say 1937

  • I have adored Stephen Fry since I was a kid. But never in all my years of childlike hero-worship did I ever conceive that he was capable of doing the absolute best Vincent Price impersonation I've ever heard in my life. And I speak with some authority on Price impersonations.

    Stephen Fry FTW!

  • I just wanted to add that it would absolutely make my year to hear Stephen say in his Vincent Price voice, "Pray do not interrupt me whilst I am soliliquizing"

  • seconted.

  • It's not a bad Christopher Lee either.

  • what episode is this because this could possibly be one of the best line ups.

  • I Love Vincent Price and I love his reference to "THe Fall of the House of Usher." Fave Price movie and face Poe story. :)

  • Brilliant.

  • stephen can do voices and accents so well :D

  • Can anyone send me the lyrics of the Peter Cushin's song, please?

  • @medea1990

    "Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable,

I have seen him on his bicycle,

I have seen him buying vegetables,

    Peter Cushing lives in Whitstable."

  • Thank you so much, evilegg288!

    It's really great stuff!

  • You're quite welcome, Medea! It is a fun little ditty, isn't it?

  • Stephen Fry acting like a fanboy is just beyond precious.

  • Whilst I really hate to correct the Treasure that is Stephen Fry - I will point out that Witchfinder General was not a hammer film, it was Tigon or British Lion, also the Vincent Price quote was from "The fall of the House of Usher" and i don't remember him being bound in anything in that... Actually it mighta been one of the Dr. Phibes films i think he says something like that in them...

  • love this clip :D

cant wait for the new series next week (:

  • Stephen's Christopher Lee accent is rather good

  • Van Helsing and Dracula talking on the phone = Awesomeness!

  • that v. price line is from "the house of usher"

  • I have seen you... in the voice of Christopher Lee LOL I love Alan laughing at Bill's evil laughter accompanying the thunderous lightning!

  • YOU SOUGHT MEEE!!!!

    Dara's Brilliant.

  • Legends talking about Legends.

  • I actually have "Peter Cushing Lives In Whitestable" stuck in my head.

  • Search on YouTube for the Jellybottys - it IS a great song!

  • me too :-D

  • I love Stephen's Vincent Price impression!

  • Pop it in, dear hearts...

Mr (and why the hell he wasn't Sir Peter, I'll never know) Cushing's wife, Helen, died in 1971 (I think)

And he is on record as saying that from then on, all he wanted to do was join her...

I read that in the 1978 Star Wars Annual - when I was eight...

  • And his tragedy, and our benefit, was that he lived so long.

I saw him at the end of his life in various UK chatshows (not many, he couldn't care less) - and he was ever the most kind, gentle and charming man...

    Profoundly missed.

  • Peter Cushing was my grandfather's cousin. :)

  • I have seen your grandfather's cousin buying vegetables

  • Lol. That's impressive, given that he passed away years ago. When you next see him, tell him to pay me a visit - I only remember meeting him once when I was younger.

  • Because no one on the internet was around before 1994

  • @cerberus440 LOL!

  • One of the best Qi clips ever!

The song itself is fabulous too.

    :-)

  • HILARIOUS.

  • "Peter! i have seen you buying vegetables" :D
