  • Why'd you put an SSD in a media box !? O_o LOL

  • Hello! Nice review!

Can you make a review of some of mediaplayers from DX? I want to buy a mediaplayer in DX, prcie about $95 to $120. Can you help me chose a player? I prefer internal HDD placement ( I have Seagate barracuda 320GB 3.5")

  • this seems better than the one from WD, butdoes it play those 'torrent downladed' files well or does it lag a lot, likea lot of other multimedia players?

  • @googley98, as long as you have the latest firmware installed, you'll be fine. Go to the Patriot forums for more info.

  • is it cinavia protected? Basically, since i updated my ps3, its pretty much rendered the ps3 useless as a media server. thx

  • @specialistsound I'm not sure if you realize, but cinavia is only used when movies are in theatres, meaning it's used to protect screeners. Once a movie is released on dvd there is no cinavia in use.

  • @rawdmon Incorrect.. Cinavia is mastered on the sound track of new bluray movies.

  • @Eron55555 Yeh, that's relatively new. People are finding ways to filter the audio to remove the embedded code anyways. This DRM will fail.

  • @rawdmon , hmmmm,usefull information cheers

  • can i record ps3 gameplay with it ?

  • 64GB drive really? that even exists? lol

  • @frostxr it's called ssd

  • @frostxr its an ssd...ffs

  • Very nice review, thank you.

Just one question, does it support subtitles (srt files) ?

  • Great review!

Just grabbed one from ncix with a free wireless N adapter for 75$ after mail-in rebate.

  • Is it better iomega screen play director ?

  • Great review as always Wizkid. I got this box for about 60$ CAD for my dad.

Is it a fairly simple interface to navigate? How about managing torrents and files?

From what i have read and seen in your video it is file browser type system , correct?

Thanks for this review , really helped out making my decision!

  • awesome

  • Just got one, how do you know if a new firmware is needed or is it automatic with internet update? This box gets really hot! Also, I cut my finger along the back edge installing an HDD! Great product for $70! Does everything I need, but wish it didn't get so hot (maybe the fan is broken?).

  • You do an EXCELLENT job demonstrating this product. I was especially interested in the torrent support and all the reviews on amazon were by people who really didn't investigate that dimension of the Patriot Box Office. I needed to know if there was web-based administration of torrents, so I really appreciate you illustrating it in your video. I'm buying this thing tonight.

  • Wow what a great combo TY PCWizkid.

  • can you download torrents using onle the box without being connected to pc?

  • i have this media box, and its freakin amazing.

  • Ok, I own both the Patriot Box Office and the WDTV Live and have had them both for several months. I would never ever in my life buy this thing over the WDTV Live. The WDTV Live is like $20 more but the interface is infinitely better, your Harmony remote won't turn on the WDTV Live when you go to change the channel like it does with the Patriot Box office, firmware updates don't have to be downloaded from the Patriot website and manually installed...etc etc.

  • nice!!

  • wow this is nice but i wish i had a HDTV so i can really use this to the max

  • 04:44 LOL Last modified (year): 2032!!!!!!!

  • i like this

  • I so want one =D

  • has he ever not recommended a product?

  • how do you set up a sepearate IP for the Patriot???

  • 64GB is SHIT you NEED LIKE 120 or 250GB

  • COST???

  • pirate movie?

  • so this is sorta like a dvd player.. for harddrives? like.. instead of a dvd disc you just plug in your harddrive? if i'm sorta right then this thing is friggen awesome lol

  • @ PCWizKid, do you think it's still worth buying if you plan on just setting the box up with no flash drive or hard drive. But to simply connect it to your router, wired ethernet cable for connection and to have it stream directly from PC to Patriot Box? Currently I don't have the money for wifi adapter an Hard Drive. So I was just more interested in a little more detail in performance an ease of use just using the computer hard drives with stored media that I would like to play on the TV.

  • alampandatennisrack shut up

  • Hey man that's my brother, don't be so rude!!

  • I think you are

  • oooohh that is soo lovely

  • Nice work yet again.

  • lol transcribe audio - its so funny .. :L

Windows 7 for free without torrents? check my video

  • lol, instead of google captions saying "adapter" it says "A doctor" Try them, click the cc and then translate audio

  • google captions think that "adapter" is "a doctor" Try them, click the cc button, then translate audio, ts pretty funny

  • !!! Ok bitte alle deutschen: benutzt den untertitelübersetzer und liest das was da steht, das ist einfach sone geile story

  • can you actually record tv with this

  • Nope, no coaxial input on the back.

  • u can stream trough band g but if u have a big house with walls(like duuh) u wil lose signal:(

  • @tuva500, why would I waste time reviewing crappy products that arent worth getting? I only review a variety of entry level to high end products that I recommend that way you know your getting something that has worth to it.

  • @PCWizKid Haha, great answer

  • ...Streaming HD video over a "B" Wireless connection? ...Why in the "Blue Hell" in 2010 wouldn't be a "N" Wireless?...

  • So much knowledge, so little time, so little patience...

  • cool

  • You seem...loud today = )

  • How did you get like 400+kb/s? When i download a torrent like a game i only get around 90kb/s. how do it get it to go faster? what do i need? like a faster hard drive or what??? Or is it soley internet speed? cuz I have comcast...

  • it all depends on the torrent, if there a lot of seeds, then you have high download speed, if there are barely any, you dont, and if there is none, then you cant download it. that is why when you search for a torrent, you need to look for the one with the most seeds

  • I am downloading one that says it has 726 fucking seeders and I NEVER anytime in my life come even remotely close to 400kb/s. PCWizKid must have like a super fucking high internet speed that probably cost $200 a month and shit. OR he has some piece of harware, besides this cuz Ive heard people saying they get 400kb/s like on the comments and shit and I have no fucking clue why.

  • I download torrents, on average, around 1.1mb/s and some only have a handful of seeds. My connection is Roadrunner and the speed is up to 10mbps. Only costs me $35 a month during promo period and $45~ afterwards. If you only d/l at around 90kbs then you more than likely only have a 1mbps connection or are running into the problems bogdanello described. If your speed is higher, and you use a router, it may be limiting your speed based on a router setting.

  • @TearsOfWar1 nothing to do with your hard drive or anything else on your computer except the max settings on your network card which you probably never reach, its all about your internet connection and your torrent software settings.

  • In our case. I've downloaded at 2MBPS. Which is 2000kbps

Depends on your internet speed and how many peers you're connected to.

If you have 10MB Internet. You're limit will be about 1250 kbps.

But depending on the Peers when torrenting depends if you hit the max or just have low speeds.

Routers can handle a lot more Megabits though. At home i have 8MB internet. Sometimes i've hit 1700 kbps.

Just depends how well you're connected to a server really.

To speed it up get higher MB internet.

  • Mine download speed goes up to 500kb/s with 4MB internet, it was way lower when I got 1MB.

So i think its internet speed matter :]

  • @TearsOfWar1 If you use torrents it depends on the amount of seeds your getting.

  • ya it always dependes on the number of seeds and peers the torrent has. I download stuff from isohunt and only get stuff from axxo or maxspeed cause they always have the fastest download speed. and that was funny, he said "more cooler"

  • what is UPnP?

  • nice video

  • Does it support torrents that are Non-English characters like Asian characters or other symbols/characters?

  • Hey pcwizkid, if ur from the future can u pick me up a alienware thats probably worth 2 bucks in the future? LOL

  • cool

  • This is like TigerDirect, just completely without all the suck.

    Kudos to you.

  • @Infinite0112, thanks man, I appreciate it.

  • Youre right!

  • Just made a FreeNAS server. This is great for it! especially for the price.

  • the date on that file you transferred was 9/14/2032 ? lol

  • @0150steveo, just checking to see if your paying attention :)

  • @0150steveo

My god, no wonder he gets all this tech stuff! hes from the future! That stuff is probably worth 1 furture cash! Good god!! Someone alert the president!!!

  • You should get wireless N....right? lol

  • @nuclearthreat545, actually I have a wireless-n adapater also, I might try it later and see

  • @PCWizKid did the wireless n work?

  • Cool!

  • looks freakin sweet! i need this! i'm a student so... makes sense

  • So you could record from a console? like ps3?

  • @FestenGTA

record from a console you need a capture card or something.

  • awesome

  • Patriot FTW.

  • Nice :-)

  • possible to hook up a game console to this to use on computer or is this just store and transfer media???...maybe a strange question...a bit over my head

  • @enixftw The only inputs are USB Enternet and Sata.

  • @enixftw It has support for UPnP streaming on UPnP cabable devices such as Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox

  • any live streaming from another computer?

  • @sardo97 , yes you can do streaming , however over a ethernet cable network connection not the wireless. wireless G is not fast enough.

  • could you upgrade it to wireless n some how?

  • no .gif's?

  • sweet

  • nice x3:P

  • cool

  • nice =D
