  • Is it okay that your robot scares me? LOL

  • its movement is pretty smooth, its awesome!

  • Is it capable of any autonomous decision making, or is it remote controlled via your computer?

  • 240p we meet again

  • @ZentaOlbaid - It reminds me of the old 1080's movie called "Runaway" starring Tom Selleck. That was a great movie! If you haven't seen it, you must check it out!

  • Please don't videotape this with a potato next time X /

  • what program are you using to run this?

  • @seeeyouinhelll2mf All movements are made in a Excel program, then exported through a .csv file and imported to a "Visual Sequencer for SSC32 servo controller" program to run the sequences.

  • make a fold up one PLEASE!!

  • make a headcrab version of this

  • it scares me i dont like it

  • TERROR DRONE!!

  • Now it just needs to be HUGE, equipped with bigdog's balance technology, and visual sensors to help it judge the best place to step, and combo its legs into surgical precision toolhands. Then you can make it diffuse bombs and shit.

  • It needs a music video

  • Dude, that thing is sweeeeet.

  • parabens....

  • I want this epic badass-robot!!!!

  • These things deserve their own TV series, or the very least a feature lenght hollywood budget movie!

  • it has the best walking moves I have seen of these so far.

  • eso no sirme mierdaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • wow too cool

  • hi there is a great project ,could you please tell me how many servos you used and how did you control them via the microcontroller or processor ,how were you able to create so many parallel pulses. Please tell me i need to know

  • I've got 20 HSR-5990TG for my hexapod, and they're SO noisy!

The sound is really loud, the beep is most annoying.

    They're strong bastards though, 24 kg/cm torgue @ 6V..

Zenta, could you contact me and let me know what you think of my project? I can mail you CAD-drawings of the design.

  • @StickerMedia Agree, I've those servos too. Noisy but strong. Have you shared your project on a forum?

  • @ZentaOlbaid Hey Zenta,

I don't share this project on a forum, because it is confidential, in the way we build it.

We're building a prototype for an autonomous robot, and we are using some techniques that we just can't share.

Video's will be online soon though!

Tomorrow i'm testing one single leg, i can show u that for a start ;)

  • really cool, well done man

  • I wonder, 3 joints and 3 servos per leg? Would it be an advancement? or hinder motion?

  • Is it autonomous?

  • If you don't mind me asking, what is required to make something like this. How many servos, micro-controller type, and battery supply capability. How much did it cost for the servos and other equipment, not including the actual hardware (legs, body, etc)? Where did you get the design layout. Thanks.

  • it doesnt look like hes running it looks like hes limping

  • I wish I was able to build one of these!

  • hola! as did molding legs? and I have to do a Hexapod next year, and wanted to ask as you did to him that way. send them to do? or did you do with a CNC machine?

  • @samtii22life No, I used a bandsaw. Handmade.

  • Can be used as a drummer. Brilliant bot. Impressed by second part of a-pod video.

  • what kind of rc do you need to controll it??

  • holy crap

  • how many servos did you use?

  • @rockonmyfriend 12x 645 MG and 6x 475 on Phoenix.

  • That would be a cool thing to have and spook out the local pets, lololol :)

  • bravo

  • i need it 2 believe me

  • That truly is a phoenix, a work of art!

  • I need that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Can you post a sharper Video?

  • i want one

  • Nice.

That box... Is it from Elfa ? : ) I have a couple of them myself : )

  • Amazing work!

  • faster and smaller...

  • @killcs smaller?? it should be bigger and faster :P or slow and heavy so people can see their death come sneaking :P

  • Lol at 2:49

    "Bah, I don't like box!"

  • man that's beautiful... very loverly creature you have there the moves are poetic!

  • May i have 1?

  • can you get the plans online or a book .i really wont to build one but need ehe money to get into it

  • wild wild west

  • vvvvvvvery cooooool! :)

  • i saw no running... just really slow waddling

  • It's funny how many people i see making serious comments on how robots could go rogue. Honestly, computers are always going to need humans to run them. We can never make an ai that can manage itself forever

  • lets talk military- enlargen this with armor covering weak points like joints, a small little tank cannon and a antipersonnel chaingun- unmanning the front lines!

  • Great for science fiction, but in reality do we want to see robots helping humans fight wars? Or ending poverty...

  • could be one sick mars lander- scare the sh*t of of any aliens

  • these things mustn't get out into space where they have acess to unlimited raw materials & sunlight... they'll multiply exponentially, then return & conquer the earth

  • @walter0bz don't give them guns!!!!

  • @walter0bz I don't think that is a wery big problem if they am in space the might have unlimited raw materials but it would take them a hell long time to get any and I don't think they am water proof or sun powered

  • @300istilmig -

if you read between the lines in my post:-

    maybe,

    1. its not a warning;

    2. I'm using reverse-psychology to make a *suggestion*.

  • @walter0bz so you want them to take control of earth ?? btw if you make it happen please give me a fast death i dont care if living or dying (serius i belive and black screen death)

  • Comment removed

  • @walter0bz I agree human race is the worst thing ever to selfish ``hey a forest lets destroy it. And kill everything in it just to make paper and more space for us, good idea lets do it ´´ example of how humans think hate them all (inclusive myself for being a member of this idiotic race!)

  • That is so nice. Unutterably cool !

  • That would give me nightmares! *shudder*

  • Find a sleeping cat, set it down near the cat......and have a video camera ready so you can post it.

  • now if only to make it godzilla size.........

  • lol you idiots the guy didn't mean the robot was running.

the title means it's running the full project script of the moves

  • can it climb stairs?

  • you should make a video of running after little kids with it then they will grow up having experienced the coolest thing EVER, and may turn into arachnophobes.

  • yea cuz thats what we want the future of america to be,,, ppl scared of bugs!!!

haha jkjk i think thats what arachnophobes mean but it coud mean the complete opposite lol then it will be worse bug freaks!!!! aaaahhhhhhh

  • lol if you put a spider costume on it, duplicated it a couple of thousand times and set it to run after people the world would be slightly more awesome.

  • That thing didn't run. what a jip.

  • dude if you saw other hexapod vids you should know that its walking way faster >.>

  • Its the same speed: It flexes, squat, turns around, just like the other vids. nothing new

  • that thing is so cool

  • don't let the U.S. Military get hold of this thing

  • Comment removed

  • AAAAHH! AAAAAAHH! I hate spiders! STOMP STOMP STOMP!!!! What? Oh....that was your project....how many hours? Wow, that much money, huh? Oopsie!

  • Comment removed

  • so hard to control..

  • lolz looks like a half life 2 mine :)

  • they mostly come at night ...mostly.. great work!! this one really creeped me out

  • frighteningly good

  • Wow, I think this is one of the coolest things I have seen. Very elegant robot.

    I love it!

Is there a way to obtain more information / plans for replicating this?

  • cool man

must've been quite some work 0_0

  • no.

  • Why is it that whenever someone sees a robot with legs, their first reaction is "you could put some guns on that"? This thing couldn't win a fight with a one-legged puppy if it had a grenade launcher.

  • if it had a couple of claymores it might......

  • nice programming

  • really awesome.

  • If you want to buy one of these can you buy it already built with possible added functions and stuff??? I really want one but doubt i can build it if thats the only way i can obtain one

  • That thing is both incredibly cool and deeply disturbing.

  • What kind of battery (Voltage, chemestry and amperage) do you have on it, and how long can you make the hexapod walk before you run out of juce?

  • Hi,

on my first Phoenix I used NiMh 6v 2700 mAh.

But now I'm using a 2 cell 7,4v LiPo 4000 mAh. With the NiMh 2700 Phoenix could walk for about 15 min. With the LiPo I'm guessing about 25 - 30 min. I have not meassured the actual time though..

  • Thanks for the answer! But the servo motors are rated 6 volt max. So, do you use a voltage regulator(or DC DC switching..) Or you use the 7.4 volt directly?

  • Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm using two Turnigy DC-DC switch regulators (8A constant, max 15A).Regulated to constant 6v.

  • too many cartoons and haorror movies

  • that is amazing. just put some 4 year old AI on it :D Seriously tho, great motions on the bot.

  • in the kit, its just like the frame, legs and that stuff, so we have to buy the servos, and the board, and controller right?

  • Hi,

Besides the kit frame you are refering to you also need:

    18 x HS-645MG (133 oz. in.) Standard Servo (S645MG)

    Bot Board II (ABB-01)

    BASIC Atom 28 (BA-02)

    SSC-32 Servo Controller (SSC-32)

    DB9 Serial Data Cable (DB9-02)

    Sony Playstation Controller Cable (PS2C-01)

    1 x PS2 Robot Controller (RC-01)

    6 x (ASB-04)

  • do you know what that totals to?, because i was also thinking about another kit that comes with all of that stuff already, its on the lynxmotion website, and its around 700 bucks

  • Hi,

Please ask Lynxmotion about total cost, I don't work there ;)

    Just made the design.

  • Hello number1officefan, the total with all the servos and everything needed is around $1100. I just finished building mine :)

  • hey iblake, is it worth the cash, cuz i wanted to build one but dont know if i should, plus i am only in high school. and if i do get it could you maybe help me a little with it?

  • maybe putting rubber on the tip of the legs can help it get a better grip on things like sliper floor

  • Yes, good idea! Actually, the Lynxmotion Phoenix kit comes with rubber feet.

  • hey u ever think of selling 1 of these ?

  • Is this the Lynxmotion Phoenix? I looks like it is. Was it difficult to achieve the various pitching a yawing of the torso?

  • Gah, just viewed your channel (and other videos) and answered my own question! ;)

So is it easy using pre-written codes from other users? I saw on another of your videos you are running Xanore's code (I'm assuming someone on a forum somewhere).

I've been into RC cars for years and am pretty familiar with electronics and servos and the like, was this kit and robotic functionality relatively easy to achieve? Thanks!

  • Hi,

This is the Original Phoenix hexapod. The Lynxmotion Phoenix hexapod kit was based upon this design under my permitions.

I'm using a Excel sheet I'm calling PEP to make the sequences.

And using Xan's code on a Atom Pro mcu to run it live. For now I'm working with combining these two abilities. New video are coming soon.

Try the kit, its awesome, but require some basic skills...

    -Zenta

  • I use the Basic Atom Pro, BotBoard II and the SSC-32 servo controller from Lynxmotion. It is programmable in basic, and the language is very easy to use ONCE YOU LEARN it! Don't be suprised if you spend 2-3 hours screaming at the Phoenix before it works. Or you can just you pre-built code, but I like the added functionality and fun that comes with writing your own...

  • it's headcrab!=)))

  • el mejor robot q eh visto hasta ahora en todo youtube.... podrias poner un manual de como hacero?

  • Very nice work.

  • This is a preset secuence can you control it with a remote or so?

  • This is absolutely brilliant... I can't believe how fluid the movements are! That just puts it in a whole different league than any other hexapods I've ever seen.

  • That's about fourteen different kinds of awesome.

  • hey guys... is it possible to make a hexapod using normal geared motors.... tats not using servo or stepper... if so which programming language is preferred??? pls reply..

  • Theoretically it is possible, but it is very very impractical to use normal electro motors so i would strongly advice against it.

Any programming language you are comfortable with would be fine, though since you would likely control a small robot with an micro controller something lightweight might be advisable, like C.

There are also some controllers that directly support Java or Basic so it is really a question of preference.

  • i dont`t think so. i mean, it might be posible using many mechanical components like cams, gears, shafts but that would be hard to do. In that case i think you wouldn't need any programming, just a motor connected to a batery.

  • Can you program it to kill cops?

  • nice work!

    which program are you using?

looks like an visual programming environment...

    is it mircosofts robotics studio?

  • the best hexapod robot i've seen. Out of curiosity , what microprocessor did You use for control?

  • quite posibly the coolest thing i have ever seen!

    must take ages to program,

if you could make a radio controlled one, with sensers to detect obstacles n stuff.

taht would be great! you deserve a medal for this!

    ***** 5 stars!

  • If it came with A.I I'd buy one!

  • sure it mite look a bit like a spider but can it eat a whole fly to its self

  • really great work!

what servos do you use? they seem to bee strong. whats the weight of your bot?

  • Hi!

The total weight is 1,8 kg.

I used Hite HS475 in the coxa and 645MG in the femur and tibia.

  • sweet they should put one on the moon or something
