Personally, I'm going to use Games workshop paint, it's acrylic, and I dont know if I should use water or alcohol. There are other you tubers, like fl1pme1ster and they use water to thin it in one of their videos. Should i test it with both? or just go use water ti thin it?
@onelasttitan my dad painted some cabinets with enamel spray paint and leaving it outside in the sun for a day to air-out got rid of 80% of the smell. It will probably just fade over time, you definitely don't want to leave plastic in the sun cause It might warp the parts but thats common sense. I haven't used enamel paint on any of my kits, so my advise isn't entirely valid, but good luck!
do you even use primary paint even if you are hand brushing? What color do you prefer? do you use enamel paint on your panel lining? What kind of paint do use when you are panel lining? Pls. reply ASAP if you have time by any chance.
i just got some mr.color paints i read a lot online that it could be thin with any hard ware store paint thinner i tried painting a couple of pieces earlier today and the first piece just came out bad im pretty sure it was the thinner and it made the paint all hard and the paint dries to fast i want to know what thinner should i get a brand would be good to know and what can i get to make the paint dry slower thank ya
Hey! so um Ive decided to detail my gundams with paints instead of using the stickers but can someone clarify for me about "thinning the paint"? like im a bit confused....like am i suppose to mix the paint (lets just say im using tamiya) with the alcohol in a plate and then i start painting? and the paint thinner is used to clean the brushes right?
BTW, Mr. Color, unless it is the Aqueous series, which are not as easily available, at least not in San Francisco, CA are lacquer based. There are also Tamiya enamel based. It is best to always read the labels.
i use automotive thinner found in any automotive paint shoppe..here in our country they let you have only the amount you need...like i provide a 1liter glass bottle then they just fill it up with corresponding price..its like a dollar for a liter..and also..choose between..acrylic,enamel,lacquer,urethane thinners..and they do the job excellently on any paint..its more affordable than those hobby branded ones and also more effective since its used for thicker automotive paints
A good trick for steadying your hands when you're trying to work: hold the part with one hand, the brush with the other - and press your hands together at the wrists... I think it helps because you can feel the one hand moving with the other, it provides a comfortable frame of reference or something. Anyway, it's really helpful sometimes.
If you are going to make a fucking build video then FUCKING BUILD don't waste everyones time talking shit for 10 minutes, the name of the video suggests you will be showing us how to build not talking for ages
If you don't mind me asking, what do you do for a living?? You know a -lot- about modeling. Do you work at a hobby shop or something? Or did you pick up all this as you went along?
I have really shaky hands cos of Cartilage problem :c what's the best way to paint small parts because I am only just able to paint larger parts with my hands.
I hope you are not going to repaint also that armor. After all it has multiple colors in it that makes it far more better looking than just plain white armor.
@vultwaz Not if you thin it with "Mr. Color Leveling Thinner", or add a Retarder. It allows to hand brush the lacquer and level out the brush strokes nicely.
@Kelrentor ya I know that I subbed to vegeta when he had like 200 subs...........Sadly a couple of them got removed.....so I would like to request newer ones from him!!!!
I'd like to see a video of painting the armor. And I've always wondered whether or not you use a top coat. And as mentioned, more videos = more enjoyable time. Thanks!
As much as I love Gundam altogether, I always hated how fucking stupid and impractical this color scheme was. The Zakus was an olive green, that makes sense. But these colors just fill me with a rage.
Tamiya's clear colors (red, blue, green, yellow) are soluble with water - and I find I have better control when using water with them as opposed to Tamiya's acrylic thinner.
Haven't tried alcohol with those, as I mainly use it to clean my brushes or my hands after painting, or to strip certain acrylics.
Hey, good tips on paint. I noticed you used you little finger as you did the detailing. Do you find that it helps to steady your hand when detail painting by using you finger as a kind of rest?
@Gomenchaiii Same company, mr.hobby is just generalized for everything they sell, which is masking tape, paints, paint brushes, sanding paper ETC... They sell lacquer and acrylic paints.
Hey Vegeta, when I used to live in ATL, I used to get my Mr. Color paints and thinner in Marietta, at AAA Hobby (google it). Great little, locally owned hobby shop with good selection of paints, no need to drive to Kennesaw ;)
@Blackslash506 makes the paint not as thick as the name implies and makes it easier to brush on thinner layers which helps reduce the number of brush marks
hey vegeta can you do a tutorials on sanding because when i sand things down they usually have swirl marks and they are really annoying as i want to perfect my gundam models.
are you going to paint the outer armor so that it still has the separate colors? because if you don't, i think it would partially defeat the purpose of buying the real grade, since one of its selling points was the different colors
It's definitely not redundant, more video's = more enjoyable time. You should really do a panel lining tutorial on painted parts before you do water decals aswell, people always have questions about that.
I got some mr colour paint and how come it looks so transparent on the model?
ChrisDoubleSharp 3 weeks ago
I thought Model Master was a sub-division of Testors paint.... says so, more like hints it in the Testors website paint list.

@thalunizz21 Mr Color will thin with rubbing alcohol. Get some 91% Isopropyl alcohol. That should work fine.
