Thank you so much for posting this. This is by far my favorite poem of all time. Unfortunately I have never been able to find an English translation that does it justice- so I cannot share this delectable sample of Jacques Prevert with my American friends.
Steve: One of the houses I lived in as a child had six(!) eucalyptus trees planted in the front and back yards. One of my chores was to keep the yards raked clean of their litter. Believe me, Australians already have a pretty good idea of what fall is like in the temperate northern hemisphere!
In my origin country England i walked to school wading knee deep thru fallen leaves.
OZ Gums shed all the year round so the effect is less dramatic. US people, buried in leave litter talk frequently about seasons- political campaings begin in their 'fall' and "summer interest rates" etc Beyond the ken of most Australians.
The season of the falling leaves is comming... I will walk on the street and walk through tha falling leaves, stepping on my dead feelings , watching as the wind swirls them around like trying to revive them. In vain. Finally, less people on the streets...more space for meditation. Your melodies always touch my soul.
Thank you for your comment. Even I might be accused of being old fashioned I like very much Mireille Mathieu. I consider her very professional and sensible.
Thank you. Beautiful song and beautiful voice.

A beautiful production- and a novelty to me as we don't have Autumn down under.
