If you put three Detroit lockers in the diff's you'd have all the wheels pullin at the same time, the'd be like having live axles. My 1 ton fire wood truck would go anywhere off road without beating the snots out of it. Right now i have a 55 cj5 willy's jeep with two loc-rites and it goes anywhere. I can jack up three wheels and that one wheel on the ground will move it.
@TheMikeEustis The paintball field we play it hosts large tournaments (on the scale of 1000+ people. Woo!) They have infantry drops where they deploy players behind their teams front line, and in order to maximize the speed at which people get their, they borrow trucks. Last year a Rental Company loaned them out two of their box trucks. The 2.5 ton would simply be for deployment.
Still fun none the less to ride in one, no doubt.
@Konraden Haha that's pretty cool dude. I have a paint ball gun, but I'm scared to mess with it, I don't want to break it. My friend gave it to me and I used it like once and those things shoot FAR! It's an orion or something.
I doubt you'd torque the frame rails themselves but you might break or loosen up crossmembers, torque rods, cab mounts, etc. Of course, it's a cheap truck with plentiful parts and I don't take it to shows or anything so I'm ok with beating on it some.
yeah if you dumb asses knew any thing you would know a fucking MOG is a light fucking lighter, its bascily a roll cage on wheels so i would hope it could make it up that hill easy
You are a little high on the weight. It's about 13,500 lbs. with driver and a full tank of diesel. 20K is right on though for a GVW (military suggested)
thats a tandem axle heavy truck. its much heavier, a screw, built to haul cargo, a Mog is smaller, lighter, a single axle built to handle mure agressive terrign. its like comparing a jeep to a crew cab 1 ton duelly
cause its more of a challenge. its one thing to drive a little jeep up a rock pile...but its much more challenging to drive a fullsize 1 ton pick up up that same course
@farmer730g It's either the Continental/Hercules LDS-427 (427ci/6.9L or LDT-465 (465ci/7.5L) - I can't tell which just from the sound alone. These never used Cummins. The later M36, which was essentially the same truck with bigger tires, an Allison automatic trans, and TIS, used the Caterpillar 3116.
I think that thing would be pretty hard to roll. Even if you were trying, I think you'd really have your work cut out. That said, though, yeah -- you'd be pretty S.O.L. That was kind of a mean thing you said.
That thing has pretty good articulation. I'm seriously looking into one of these trucks. If I sell a couple of my other toys I could probably afford one.
Love that guy at the end that puts his fist up in the air.

@davi200 I've been called a lot of things but never Radar O'Reily. The truck is being piloted by the same guy who posted the video.

That was too cool. Looks old, where do you find a 2.5 ton truck anyway?
Konraden 2 years ago
Private party sales, companies that refurbish them, and the fed government still sells them. They have been phased out and are being surplused.
GoldComet6 2 years ago
@Konraden Government Liquidations. You normally find the Navy and such selling them off base.
TheMikeEustis 1 year ago
Friend's father just purchased one "because he can." We're apparently taking it to the paintball field this summer. Hell. Yes.

You do realize they are a convertible right? In a big truck or not, they are still going to shoot you D:

Michelin XL 12.5R20
Only slightly taller than 9.00x20s
I've got 11.00s to put on as soon as I wear the XLs out but they seem to wear like iron.

ARB airlockers are what I plan on putting in my M35A2 very soon... That way I have 100 percent traction front and back...
TheAnarchistPrince 3 years ago
but that old duece doesn't even have a low enough gear to climb that titchy little hill
shotgunboy123456 3 years ago
Mine weighs in at 16K, total GVW just shy of 26K over the highway.
SitsinShadow 3 years ago
exactly that's why its much better off road
shotgunboy123456 3 years ago
That truck would drag your mog backwards and still make it up that hill.
bigassfordsd 3 years ago 7
This comment has received too many negative votes show
it struggled to get up the hill unloaded
my mog would do that hill no sweat
it would not make it u the hill at all with a mog trailing behind
shotgunboy123456 3 years ago
a mog is an entirelly diffrent truck...

its still a much better choice for offroad

in this case.. we're referring to a 2 1/2 ton truck.
mediarocker543 2 years ago
well, it looked like he doesnt have lockers in it yet, but with lockers that truck would pull a mog up a steaper, rougher hill no problem
