  • oh yea, what frisbee should i start my puppy on? he's 10 weeks old. then what frisbee is the best when he's full grown?

  • when should i start my puppy on frisbee? is 10 weeks too early? if so, when should i start?

  • thank you so much. this is a great intro to disc, what would be cool is if you could make a intermediate and advanced disc howto vid. Also what brand or type of disc do you recommend for best value, strength, ease on dogs mouth/gums? thanks again you kick ass!

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!!!

  • so the first thing i though when i watched this video was: yaya... come 15 she'll be more into boys than into dogs. so now since this vid is like 2 years old... ya know ;)?

  • lol

I'm fifteen and and way more into dogs than boys.

I'm gay so that helps. ^^

I love dogs though. People come and go, but you are you dog's hero. You can do almost anything to a dog and he'll still love you. They stand by you when some people will turn away. They don't judge and in their eyes, you're always right. ^.~

  • VERY NICE!!!

  • One of my fav vids of yours Zak!

  • under your eyes are black....u look tired

  • At 0:24 was that your dog?

  • That is such a great video i have been teaching my dog agility and i think i will get involved with frisbee too. Thanks so much!

  • Thank You!

  • Zak G. You are the man!!! Your videos are so inspiring I keep watching them over and over to learn your techniques! Thank you so much for all of them! :D You motivated me into getting a dog! I just got it a week ago and I can describe my happiness!!! Once again THANKS!!!

    Caracas, Venezuela

  • Fantatic video Zak! Very informative. PLEASE keep it up!

  • 2:30 whoopshahahahaha

  • Thank you Zak. x

  • These techniques are really solid. I will be recommending this video to friends.

  • great vid without your videos my dogs would be lazy and sit around

  • Thanks a ton, for the great video! I'll try it.

  • When you say 'world class frisbee dogs' is that just a saying or are they really world class?

  • nice!

  • This vid was great! I'm trying to teach my dog disc, and I like the idea of putting the disc on a string!! I'm going to try that!

  • How did I end up with the one border collie that won't fetch!!! I wish my dog would learn this stuff!

  • That girl is not 13!!!!!

  • For some reason my sheltie dosent want to bite a plastic frisbee. But she will bite and hold a frisbee that is made out of a silky kind of material. Why does she do that?

  • plastic is a hard material, especially the plastic frisbee meant for people. They're meant to be caught by hands not by mouths. I taught my dog frisbee with a soft frisbee and transitioned him to the plastic. Just make sure it's a flexible plastic meant for dogs, you can go to the (I don't know the american organization but in Canada it's called CDDA) and see what kind of frisbees they use.

  • I have a Rottweiler almost 3 month old and is a very happy dog and can't stop playing Ive been trainning her for the past two weeks with the Frisbee and is a lot more calm when is at home. Thanks for the trainning on youre video. I leave in an Island surrounded by beaches is she old enough to show her how to swimm in the ocean?

  • she may be big enough to start swimming, but the ocean might not be the best place to start. Strong waves and currents may scare her. At that age, you want to make sure her first experience is a positive one, otherwise she may always be afraid of the ocean. Never push a dog to do something they are scared of.

  • Thanks for the comments will try to find calm waters to make a pleasent experience for her I think it you be a great work out for them

  • Thanks for this great lesson!

  • Thank you - we have a six month old mini australian puppy and we want to do this with him. So far he has acted like he does not even see the frisbee. We'll try what you have suggested. This video was great!

  • Enjoyed this.

My Lab is 3 and I would like her to enjoy disc, just in the backyard.

She does love toys,so I`m going to try and transition her using that 2 litre bottle.

I have found her taking those out of the recycling box and playing with them.

Going to add this to the player also.

  • Do Border Collies do well whne nobodys home and would they stay in a kennel while the kids are at skool?

  • not really, they're very active and VERY intelligent, they need a job to do to keep them stimulated, most become destructive if left home alone for too long. That being said, I think if you made sure your dog got plenty of exercise before you left, and maybe tried to get a calmer show line dog, then you might be ok.

  • Yeah they need a lot of stimulation. A good walk (1hr) before work, a good size yard and a walk/garden-play at night seems to work fine w/ my 6yr old adoptee (now 8 and no signs of destruction).

Of course older dogs need rescue, and a little less interaction.

Oh, they also learn to understand our language!

Totally agree w/ the parent-child view. They just want to please you if your a nice dad/mum .

  • i wish i started training dogs at her age... my one regret in life

  • As talented as you and Venus are - your look at "the big picture" is what touched me the most. The human/dog bond, learning thru teaching and giving dogs a 2nd chance by adopting from shelters - perfect.

  • "The way to learn is through teaching" - YES!

Is there a way for me to give this TEN stars?

  • How old are you Zak?

  • We pick up our new pup next week and we will be eating, sleeping, living frisbee together. Thanks for putting together the videos.

  • ive always tried to make my dog do something...and if he couldnt learn in one day

    id give up

youve inspired me to "not give-up"

  • "You get what you put in to it" that's really a great quote man. Like in school. It's all about taking the responsibility and knowing that only you are responsible for the knowlege or lack or knowlege you have. Or for example Kobe. He's a great player but very few ppl see the preperation behind the final product you might say.

  • i got a pug, look at my videos, and he wont do anything what i tell him!! help he is a nice pain in the ass :)

  • PUGS RULES MY PUGS ON MY LAP LOL!

  • lol. I love pugs too. ^.^

  • I have a question... Can you train other dogs besides border collie's? Why do a lot of people use border collie's? Are they easier to train than others?

  • i know i'm not you but from what I've seen it seems that owners are the best source for training a dog. They know their dog and their personality. Also I have to completely credit you for helping me realize any dog can learn a trick it takes time, patience, and a good owner/trainer.

  • Nice job! Great training tips, too. I'm definitely going to use the advice given to my advantage.

  • Wow Zak. Your pretty good at this video editing stuff. Thanks for letting me be a part of this video.

  • Thank you! You did a very good job.

  • Thanks Zak - great training video. Like your philosophy. I just posted my first video of me and my fellow Border Collie owners at our dog park. I don't have editing equipment - but just shows how much fun we have. All of our dogs are young - around a year old. They all took to the frisbee right away; but we haven't gotten any formal training. So your videos will be a big help.

  • Thanks that's what it's about. Video allows us to interact much better.
