now we just need a mode to have a "screamer" themed image to show up when you cease writing. Think of those videos that freak you out mid-viewing with a loud screech and a picture of that girl from the excorcist. *that* would be motivation!
I love the write or die service. Its very useful for freewriting. I've added a link to my writing blog, mentioned it to my writer's group, and pretty much tell others online about it if they have writer's block.
I believe that he meant to say psychology but just mixed it up with philosophy likely due to being tired/sleep deprived. I did both introductory psychology and philosophy units in first year a couple years back and they do sound somewhat similar and can be mixed up when one is tired.
Write or Die was vital to me during NaNoWriMo! To be honest though, I'm about to use it for the first draft of a school paper because I can't seem to actually get motivated for that either.
Kamikaze mode kicked my ass. But it IS saving my NaNo! And who could have guessed that when typing continuously for eight straight minutes when you have no idea what you're doing could actually prompt something relatively deep and meaningful?
That is awesome! Ahh Kamikaze mode is so mean!! Talk about motivation! Scary! But to be honest that peanut butter jelly time music is so horrible it's enough to keep me going!
The normal mode doesn't work for me...I just end up dancing to the Peanut Butter Jelly Time awesomeness. But the kamikaze mode does wonders for Nano. *Noes! No word delete! I need those!*
This will really help with NaNoWriMo! I'm really bedind and I keep getting distracted. For some reason the sound doeesn't play when i stop writing though. I almost wish i really could use electric shock mode. Maybe they could make it so that when its that mode lightning flashes across the screen saying "Write now" and doesn't stop until you write.
I thought of another, more evil consequence you could call Kamikaze+ or Evil Kamikaze or something. To me, it looks like Kamikaze mode deletes one word per second. The more severe mode would delete words at an accelerating rate. Say, one word per second for the first three seconds, then one word per .75 seconds for a few seconds, then one word per .5 seconds, .25 seconds, and so on. Make it really hurt! Just throwin' that out there.
Unfortunately, now all I can think to write is "Peanut butter jelly time! Peanut butter jelly time! Where ya at where ya at where ya at now there ya go there ya go there ya go..."
So it's probably a good time for the Kamikaze mode, to get some of that deleted!
I typed 3,600 words in two hours thanks to this tool! It's pretty awesome, works insanely well, and it really gets you to write! I use this every day, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who has an issue with meeting deadlines or just can't pay attention! I know I couldn't!
You, good sir,may have just saved my nanowrimo novel for the year! I have ADHD and on normal mode,I got nearly 700 words in ten minutes. I love you. Really I do.
I think I'm for the normal setting. XD This sounds like a great application! I found a link to your website from the Nanowrimo site. Good luck with your novel this November!

Great idea. English classes could use this to get students over the fear of putting words on screen quickly.
Can you do "Edit or die" next?
