I have never seen the show but their songs are addicting. I first heard "Imagine" at an remembrance Day assembly. and I have found searching youtube for different people singing it, and I'm not sure who is better singing it, Connie Talbot or Glee!
I have never seen Glee, but I found this to be a very honest and earnest cover...I only wish that some of the lyrics were not removed (though I understand why) ...the core message remains intact and whenever and whoever performs this song, and means what they sing, it is a very good thing.

John's version is and always will be the most beautiful and meaningful version of this song and what upsets me so much with all these Gleeks is i've been in so many situations where someone will mention a glee cover (especially their Beatles ones) and say how good it was and yet they're ignorant to the real artist. The problem is that people like you say "forget the old version" and stuff like that, but glee doesnt write any of their own songs. OMG, in a dance show here in Belgium, on of the choreographers used this song, and his dance was so enormously great.

They didn't cover this song to make a mockery of it or use it for money. They covered this song to make a point in the world. In the episode, they are singing with deaf people. What people like you fail to realise is that when a big company (Fox I understand in this case) uses old "tried and tested" songs (albeit with a substandard cover and not the original) to promote their show they are not interested in your "point making"; what they are interested in is what I've pointed out - money making. Ask yourself, would John Lennon agree to this if still alive?

Furthermore, just because they've assuaged your concerns by getting some deaf people in to help them out and there seems to be some kind goodness attached to it doesn't mean to say that's the case. It's far more likely the suits in charge of the show sought out songs that would be the most lucrative. If you're honest you KNOW that John Lennon would see through all this and tell them where to go if they asked him. Just a shame he isn't here to do that!
