If one positive came out of this train wreck, it shows that not just anybody can sing like Daryl and John. That said, Daryl sounds a bit croaky here, so an all round forgettable performance!
for a band like H&O to be on show like this is shame. what has this show bought to the table as in quality singers other than 3 to 4 gimmick bullshit hacks people that started off singing in the shower & car now make millions for singing the most simplest mediocre vomit crap i ever heard
@nighthawkde Actually the classics are what they should be singing as well as their own material, to see if the contestants can sing like the best singers before them. These guys did much better than I thought they would, it wasn't like Glee trying and wrecking 'Silly Love Songs'. These guys may be a long way off from Hall and Oates atm, hopefully some of them get better with time and practice.

Can anyone tell me who the guy is who sings the first part of the verse of Maneater (blond wavy hair)? Where did he come in Idol? He has a nice sounding voice.
I loved them, I missed this episode but thank you for posting it here. late 70's and 80's music is the best. i can listen to them every day! Love them
Are you kidding! Daryl sounds pretty good for a 64 years old. Daryl Hall & John Oates would have chewed these guys up and spit them out when they were in their early twenties. Honestly, I think raw talent has gone by the waste side these days man!
As life will check us all. The ability to hit high notes wouldn't be the only thing we lose. We should appreciate what we had when we did once had it. Respect the legend because they are just like you and I, but unlike now. EXtraordinary defined their status. Today its everyday people that performs and are appraised for what?
I was pleasantly surprised to see them perform on American Idol. I think that the younger audience needs to be exposed to acts like this, because this is what I grew up listening to. My dad hates the show, because he hates the people they have on there, but he spun around immediately and watched with a big smile on his face when these guys started playing.

The guy who starts the song off isnt even the right melody for the intro of this song? Weird. The whole thing was so cabaret, I hope H&O got well paid to be there.
I like American Idol but this ..... this is just about the most horrible rendition of Hall and Oates' songs.
