From a G1 stakes winner at 10f as a 2yr.old in France to a G1 stakes winner at 20f as a 5yr.old in the UK, and at about every distance at every age in-between in Ireland. Fame and Glory is such a class horse!! Love this horse!!
F&G was beaten in a listed race at the weekend. But he was beaten before in a weak race and is known to run below par when he is in warm-up races, so I wouldnt take it too serous.
Credit to Aiden Obrien for somewhat putting his belief on the line entering this horse, there's me thinking these battle hardened 2/12 mile hurdlers Blue Bajan, Kasbah Bliss etc who have gone flat out around Cheltenham would show him what 2/12 miles in soft was all about, what do i know
Fame and Glory's win in the Ascot Gold Cup was the highlight of the entire Ascot meet to me!! Especially given the doubt by many concerning whether or not Fame and Glory would stay the 2m 4f trip? But stay he did, and every yard of it!! I would expect to see another good effort out of Fame and Glory in the Arc De Triomphe this year. I'm sort of hoping that maybe Aidan O'Brien might even consider bringing him to Churchill Downs for a run at this year's Breeders Cup Turf?
America's HRTV announced this morning that Aidan O'Brien said that Fame and Glory will be trained for another shot at this year's Arc De Triomphe, and that he'll also be brought back for his 6yr.old season to take another shot at winning the Ascot Gold Cup!! For me, that's great news!! I've always been a really big fan of Fame and Glory!!
@GBeret83 Any news of a great runner such as Fame and Glory, having another campaign scheduled rather than retired, sometimes unexpectedly, is great news. Just has to keep his health up and we'll be seeing him through Ascot next year. As you've mentioned, he's another horse that would be a welcomed sight at Churchill in the fall. I'm starting to look into overseas racing now, since our male division is in the doldrums, and finding out about lots of horses, Fame and Glory is one of my favorites.
@d9y8l7a6n5, Everything I've read so far concerning Aidan O'Brien's remarks about F&G have always been the same. O'Brien says he going to train F&G for another shot at this year's Arc, then bring him back as a 6yr.old for another shot at winning the Gold Cup again. Haven't heard or read anything different than that as of yet?
@zebestro The jockey should be birched for his ride on Geordieland. But the first three put up very strong staying performances. Fame and Glory is the only one that could win the Cup. He has the turn of foot and the stamina necessary to win it. Great win.
@SvendBosanvovski yes i agree with you on all counts their. i thought opinion poll put in a ripper of a race there too, coming from the back to finish second, great run
@zebestro I hope connections bring Fame and Glory to Melbourne for the Cup. He will probably start favourite ion the strength of this, and may take the trophy back to the old country. It should be worth $A6 million this year, about half of which gfoes to the winner. That should pay for his oats.
@SvendBosanvovski if F & G or opionion poll come here to melbourne i will be all over them! itd be nice to see them win the geelong cup as well and take on maluckyday on the first tuesday! best day of the year, already getting excited
Mega impressive!! No other way to say it. Given the questions surrounding whether or not F&G would stay the 2-1/2m, and given that the ground probably made it seem more like 3m, this may have been more impressive than any Gold Cup that Yeats ever won. Favorite for this year's Melbourne Cup, perhaps?
@GBeret83 This horse is one I'd love to come for the Melbourne Cup, but he'd get too much weight, he's classier than anything to come to Aus from overseas

Have you got film footage of the winning enclosure after the Britannia Stakes? My sister-in-law was in the stands just behind the winners enclosure.

@TheDLPVideos Maybe later on when he gets a bit too old for the Arc, this will probably be his last run in The Arc though so maybe next year.
