Don't speak about Amy and the band as if they couldn't give a fuck about the music or the fans and that they only care about money! Evanescence are true artists! Amy Lee is a classically trained pianist and harpist and has an amazing voice live and recorded! Evanescence will wait years to create an album that is worth listening to! That being said I don't like metal so. and Tarja isn't in Nightwish any more so how can you compare something to something that doesn't exist ? Evanescence forever <3

Evanescence is an average band with a few good songs, a lot of promotion and lots of money invested in postprocessing. Live they are zero, both voice and instrumental.

Nightwish has an exceptional composer, HAD the best female voice in the business, has virtuoso instrumentalists.

Fans and critics agree that the first 4 NW albums were one of the best made in all metal history.

Moreover, NW was great live.

Nightwish current singer is pretty weak, I was talking about Tarja Turunen.

Regarding tastes, they are indeed subjective but even these days when NW is very commercial, they are years ahead Evanescence from a musical POV.

I could tell you - objectively - the difference between good and bad music, between creative/quality music and commercial garbage, but don't have that much time.

Evanescence, Amy Lee, no contest. Comparing voices, wtf is up with night wish? What a horrid voice. I'm sure it's powerful, but Amy Lee manages to have a powerful voice that also sounds beautiful. Nightwish... just ugh. Horrible band name, horrible song, and horrible voice equals absolute shit. I'm not saying this out of loyalty, Evanescence's songs actually mean something. Nightwish's one sounds like any typical song. Something about Aphrodite?

How can you compare these two? Tarja is professional opera singer and Amy is hardly has a half of Tarja vocal power. No offence Amy fans, but in some songs I can hear that Amy can't go any further with her voice. Tarja instead, can easily give 100% of her voice power without any issues.

Honest opinion, I love both bands. They are both amazingly talented, and there really isn't any comparing them because they are nothing alike. They're BOTH great. Nightwish was and still is a power metal, symphonic metal/rock, opera rock/metal band. I love them SOOOOO much. Tarja & Anette are both great :) But Evanescence wins - hands down. Because they mix genres. Rock, pop, metal, r&b, symphonic pop, alternative dance even a little bit of r&b. But i love both. Ev mix genres and I always have a suprise when they bring out a new song. :)

what planet do you live on? Tarja's operatic style goes VOLUMES beyond Amy's range... Amy just has a little more "RAWNESS" which is beautiful, in it's own right, a rawness which probably got voice trained out of tarja.

anyway, "imho", you haven't listened to much nightwish (based on your favoritism of amy's range), and I think you should listen to some OLD nightwish. but beyond that, your opinion wasn't humble in the first place... like -you- can sing any better than either of them!

Nightwish. To me, Evanescence just sound like any other cookie cutter goth metal band. Leaving aside Tarja's epic voice, Nightwish is (was) something special and beautiful (go listen to Ghost Love Score- seriously). With NW it's about the whole band and not just the lead singer. To me Nightwish is (or was) beautiful and totally unique, and that's not even factoring in Tarja's amazing voice. Ghost Love Score is a work of genius. Cuando una vocalista se viste de negro ya piensan que hacen el mismo estilo de musica?? No se puede comparar, una banda totalmente diferente de la otra. amy is deffintly the best of theese two vocals. but Tarja is also good.

but they are so enormesly different from eachother. Tarja is either doing a new style, or very bad opera style vocals. but sounds good when mixed with nightwish.
