what a bunch of talking head jerks,you dont have to be an engineer to build an ev even the motor controller is for sale on e bay that was the easy conversion you bolt an eletrick motor to the old transmission,the hard way is to remove all that and use wheel motors
Electric cars have being around for 100 years, they were favored over gasoline cars because they didn't smell and they were quiet. Ferdinand Porsche made electric cars before he made VW's.
@3089280288 An AC motor works on 3 phase it has the coils in the motor house, the rotor is a shaft with a magnet on it.
A DC motor has magnets in the house and the Coper coils at the Rotor it also has brushes to fead the current plus and min. to the collector from the rotor.
better is an AC motor it's more powerfull and lasts longer, but you have to convert the DC from the batt. to AC for the motor. and that's difficult, i don't now how to do that. put you have regelators that you can buy. expencive stuff!
ac handles higher volts and is alot more efficient so more power in most cases but all good motors take engineering so it depends what your trying to do. I'd go AC but they're more spendy so I have to save alot for that and lithium batteries.

@fatrug33
How long have electric cars been being made, built & manufactured in the U.S.A., as well as engineered?

What's the difference if you use an AC motor versus a DC motor in terms of performance?

Thanks. Now, which one is better to use?

Wouldn't you use an inverter to convert from DC to AC?

AC is better to use.
DC costs less, but AC is worth the price & lasts longer than a DC.
