A very strong song. Even though the lyrics don't make much sense (to me anyway) it is one of the best sounding songs this band has created. I think the best line is "I hope I get what you *deserve*", making one realize that even if that special someone treated you like shit and left you, you won't hold nothing against her and even ask karma to give you what it had planned for her instead. Great song. Tear jerker.

They introduced the melodic elements, which was great, but they could never balance it with the funk, this was even more prominent in John's solo work IMO, so when I heard they were getting a guitarist who resembled John's solo work, that sent off badalarm bells

@FractureOfReality I dig Frusciante and RHCP through all their albums. Flea has said on multiple occasions that if you got hung up on just one early album, you weren't listening to the band. You were listening to that specific style of music and therefore miss the point. Don't listen. RHCP knew what they were doing when they chose the new guitarist. That's a conscious effort by THEM to incorporate his style with theirs because they see something in it.

Worst case scenario; this new guy turns out like Dave Navarro. John wouldn't reccommend someone of any lesser quality. The funk guitar isn't hard to learn. John, himself, had to pick it up once he got in the band. It's not difficult at all. I haven't got to check this guy out, but what made Frusciante so great was his vision, which included embellishment and vocal harmony.
