crazy train is definitely an appropriate song for a siberian husky. i have a solid white/blue eyed one at home who is also blind and she LOVES snow, she will actually sleep outside her dog house when it snows.

whoever doesn't own a husky and wants the experience, put a dog suit on a 2 year old that can dig tunnels and climb fences. that's about accurate.

The brown dog is a Shepherd / Collie mix best we can figure. He was born blind but gets around great. The black and white is a Siberian and the grey and white is a Siberian mix we think, maybe Malamute. She is on the large size for a Siberian

akiliase, he does very well for himself. He is still going strong but was just diagnosed with cancer. There is nothing we can do at this point but keep him comfortable and happy. So far its working, he is both :)

The lighter gray Huskie with the bushie tail reminds me of my half-Huskie, half-Samoyed, Elsie. She has very similar markings and tail (hers curls up more). She is so smart and so ornery: runs off whenever she can and really "molts" every year. Love the smart girl!

its all in them being trained, I have a 4 yr old boy and he knows better than to run off - even with the door wide open.  If they are always locked inside then first change they get, they're gone

LOL, I'm always amazed at how much mine loves Cold Weather, and Snow. The Colder it gets, the more she plays on the leash. Fortunately we just had a good snow, and man oh man, did she go WILD. My Husky is an Alaskan Husky (Husky/Akita Cross), of about 50 lbs., and she can yank me all over the place when she gets excited to run.

it can be that bad, i have to keep mine in a kennel topped with mesh because if she runs, she keeps going and going and going. we tried to fence her in but she dug underneath the fence, reinforced that, and then she CLIMBS the fence, we're talking a dog that can jump high enough to get her front paws over a 6ft fence and kick her way up and over. and on top of that, she's completely blind! ive tried obedience training, a breeder said 8 different trainers and a cattle fence keep hers in line.

Not all of them have blue eyes. I have one with hazel eyes and one with blue eyes.There are some too that have different coloured eyes; and there are some with with a shorter

They are playing, Siberians have a dual coat, and trust me the other cannot feel it other then the fact his bud is moving his head around LOL, I have had a whole sled team doing that to one another for hours and no one got hurt.

Yes they do shed a lot, two major sheds called blowing thier coats. The under coat sheds like cotten balls. Sibes usaully keep themselves very clean, we only give our a bath ever few months. They really do not need it more than that.

Depending where you are, even at 5 months old she should do well in cold weather. With that said, you never want to leave them out in extream weather alone or for long periods of time

Not really, while they do enjoy the snow, the mostly enjoy the company of people and other dogs and as long as they get to play, are well fed, and kept cool during the hot months they do great.  Our guys spend more time in the A/C then we do during the summertime.

Thanks for the comments. If you are looking to get a Siberian, just do the research first. They will be different that your GSD. They are not as easily trained, they are very indipendent thinkers and should NEVER be allowed to run off leash unless in a fenced in area. They can cover a lot of miles in a day and usually can't find thier way back home or they don't want to. Check out nbrescue dot com to learn more about the breed.

Yes, the black and tan non-Siberian who keeps atempting to play is completely blind. As a matter of fact he was born without any eyes at all. He has just two small white slits where the eyes should be. He does very well for himself and at almost 10 years old, he gets around pretty good :)
