I don't see Fischer's death as a loss to the chess world he hadn't played a tournament game since 1972, or any games that were published. Playing private games no one else knows about is no loss.

One could reasonably argue that the two greatest players ever were American: Morphy and Fischer. Chess will miss Bobby Fischer; I learned the game as a child during that fabled '72 World Championship.

Well, it's respect for the dead. It's not unreasonable to say Fischer was the greatest, so that's the line Topo gives, very respectful. does Topo actually believe he was the best? maybe maybe not, doesn't matter.

It's just his opinion and considering Topalov beat Kasparov (for example, right before Kasparov retired) it's a reasonable opinion to make.

Statistical analyis of games (also subjective through the scoring method) show Fischer with the highest 1 year rating and Kasparov with the highest 3 year, 4 year, etc.

topalov didn't play the game at the world championship but it's very important that player like him, shirov, carlson or anand will succeed. they make chess interesting and awesome to watch. kramnik brought chess to a dead spot even although his kind of chess is more correct.chess can't be interesting if the champions plays a draw after 25 moves in every second game! chess get much more advertency when kasparow was the champion!

yes but not probably. we never consider that he did it all alone, from brooklyn. In brooklin u're a genius if you open 5 restaurants, and before fischer i guess 5% of americans coud distinguish chess from domino. Fischer is a part of the world history, not just of the chess legends.
