  • Were the previews repeated at some stage as the quality is awesome for 1971

  • brilliant song

  • ce n'est pas Clodagh Rodgers. c'est Trotsky, la revolutionaire!

  • this is awesome clodagh is my name too!

  • How do you know so much about cycling?

  • Have you ever thought about making a video of this song by using scenes from "The Cycling Tour" episode from "Monty Python's Flying Circus". the video would start out with the 2 monsters from the very end saying, "Are you ready, Maurice", "Righto, Kevin", "OK, HIT IT!!" The song starts with the scenes, Just a thought. I'd do it if i knew how.

  • This reminds me of Smolensk, where i served my duty in shooting squadron

  • this song reminds me that my mum loved it so do i love you mum

  • There's more than a passing resemblance between Clogadh and Olivia Newton John from the same period. Anyone else noticed this?

  • @weenyone No I don't see that sorry but definitely a blond- haired Cilla Black - same mouth and teeth. Whatever, I like her as much now as I did way back when. I'm going to have fun at work tomorrow telling all those who swore they didn't know her, that really they did. Who could forget these songs? .... well actually I had - But I DID know her name. And I certainly recognise the songs.

  • Hmmm, Terry Jones has pretty respectable cleavage.

  • I love how pretty much everyone here knows this song from the Monty Python episode. So for the rest of time, Clodagh will be associated with Trotsky and Eartha Kitt.

  • Never heard this in its entirety before--I LOVE IT!!!

  • It seems like it was easy to be a hit singer back then.

  • sandie meets cliff meets lulu...its all thrown in on this one...la la laaaaa

  • my #1 eurosong song

  • I just LOVED this one - the percussion's great! Thanks to hrpman for sharing and to primadonna11 for posting it!!!! Thanks to Malcolm Codd for this video too!

  • Doesn't look a thing like Terry Jones.

  • Good one.

  • Just been rewatching that episode.

  • its songs like this we need in EUROVISION!!!

  • CLODAGH!!!

  • Me too.

  • Monty Python brought me here.

  • Same.

  • Ditto.

    "My lack-of-God, it's Trotsky!"

  • Funny, she doesn't look like Trotsky...

  • Prefer her in the 60s mini skirt for those great legs

  • ha - cute song

  • I bet she's a lovely cousin too...GO Clodagh...

  • Comment removed

  • She's my Da's Cousin.

  • shes my mum.

  • @KungfuCow5 hahaha wow, she is my nan's cousin too! Eileen Rodgers... :)

  • @KungfuCow5 hahaha wow, she is my nan's cousin too! Eileen Rodgers... :)

  • Oh dear, all Mal Codd's videos are out of synch, as this one is. Funny though!.

  • A lame re-write of 'Puppet on a String'.

  • In 1971 she was considered one of the sexiest singers in pop music. I still love this song. Besides that she knew she was fun!!

  • Clodagh Rogers has been forever immortalized thanks to Monty Python.

  • Isn't she from Northern Ireland?

  • Yes..that is correct..she is from County Londonderry

  • She's actually from Ballymena in County Antrim.

  • Oooh, I love the hair! :)

  • It's funny.

  • This is great. But back then she got death threats from the I.R.A by representing the UK. But basically Northern Ireland 'is' the part of the UK.

And she is really gorgeous too!! Great Song!

  • I LOVE THIS PERFORMANCE! Clodagh looks divine, sings superbly and camps it up a storm. A Jack-in-a-box-in an evening frock..jumping up and down on a string..green eyes..blonde curls and cleavage! It works a treat and stands up to the test of time. You gotta work with what you're given and she totally brought it home for the UK even if the song won or not, the performance was superb!

  • This performance was lifted from BBC's 'It's Cliff Richard' 1971 series.... a 'Song For Europe' special from 20th February 1971 where Clodagh sang all six contending songs.

Its horrific to think that nothing at all survives from all 13 shows in Cliff's series other than this wonderful clip featured here.

    The blundering BBC!

  • Gee she's really pretty!

  • One of my favourite UK entries.

  • VINTAGE.....Clodagh is gorgeous.

  • My pump got caught in my trouser leg etc.

  • @hugalove But what happened to the corned beef rolls?

  • was this from the cliff richard show?
