we hv to focus on how should we save the people,think about their future rather than blaming others. i know for facts that few of geologist did a research & found that there is no evidence that showed the mud came from the drilling hole. for political reasons,some people think it is safer to blame bakrie rather than doing a deeper research on this case.

Try again! The evidence at the time was inconclusive. New evidence from log books reveals the company tried to stop the flow back up the well when they realized what they had done. The well was improperly sleeved. It's that simple.

In my opinion, this incident is not an absolute human error, but also the effect of the geographical condition of Indonesia, which has been neglected for decades. The Lapindo case is simply the turning point of exploiting Indonesian nature without a specific sustainability program. Political interest with the help of media exploitation blow up the news and frame the company simply to avoid the real issue, which is the failure of government to create a sustainable program for nature preservation

I think, the more responsible for this tragedy is the government, but seems like we cannot rely on them either.

Indonesia has so many rich people. They even richer and listed in the member of richest person in the international world. why can't they be together, hand in hand to help those people.

we can learn from Prita case, where so many not-rich people collected coins and the result was amazing! What if those Rich people who lives here collect big money?

I have followed this incident in the news. The so called experts whom said it that its standard procedure to put steel casing throughout the bore hole are full of BS. Case setting is determined by actual drilling conditions (geology and pressure). It looks like no mud never came from the bore hole, so how can they convincingly blame the drillers? My bet is that it was going to erupt anyway, and it looks like the earthquake happened just before the mud eruption.

the well has certain depth, would it not be possible if it starts along the bore hole and deviates as it reaches surface because the top of the bore hole is plugged?

Because of the uncertainty of the cause the goverment isn't reacting, like it does to other disasters. If SBY says its a natural disaster then it will look like he is supporting Bakrie. And because of the controversy international help and NGO's wont get involved. It's hard to prove Lapindo caused the mud, as I see from the trailer but because they help they get the blame. We maybe wrong in blaming Lapindo. If it can't be 100% proven then call it a natural disaster and help will start to come.

Please help the people who lost everything to get the compensation from the company who triggered this disaster. The owner of the company is a leading politician and also a successful businessman in Indonesia who has been running away from the responsibility to tackle this problem from the beginning until today.

How can we help? Its now clear the reasons for blaming the company are not credible, so the cause of the mud cannot be proven. I don't think even corruption could have got Bakri out of this trouble if they are really to blame. Shame on Walhi whom blamed the company, they have caused all this controversy and confusion for the victims. The government needs to call it an act of nature so a real NGO's whom do good can come in and help the victims.

I saw the full length documentary in Scottsdale last month. Very impressive production and interesting story about earthquakes, exploration activities and large populations mixing together. Clearly nobody knows what causes these eruptions and disasters, mother nature can be so harsh.
