  • @BurnRoddy completely agreed.

  • Why did this get canned!? Just like Spider-man, FF,X-men, IM and Hulk all the marvel shows where fantastic back then ;(

  • i mean saban

  • this should have been made what is wrong with you uban you did a bad job with all power rangers and this was made i would like it

  • Great Commercial for America!

  • when was this aired?

  • I have never seen this! Wish it would have been made, thanks for sharing!

  • Well if it was Spider-Man: TAS or X-Men level it would have been AMAZING! shame it didnt get made

  • actually the designs fit well for what was made in the 90's, again everything is overshadowed which urks me but if this got touched up a bit it might fly on one of the paid channels, or hell do what green lantern has been doing and release a few stand alone animated movies sure it would be riding on the popularity of the movie but still

  • This might have been pretty neat, actually.

  • And the award for most cheesiest intro goes too... :-P

Also, click '5' for Rape face.

  • to think that this show could of been part of my childhood like the x men animated series :[

  • I would have been all over this had it got made back in the '90's. Cap's sheild was drawn a tad too small but other than that I'm good with the whole classic look. I love the animated Avengers on Disney, those were my Avengers I grew up reading. The battle against Graviton is CLASSIC, and well done! Looking forward to seeing the Vision coming to the team in the second season. Hated the 1999 Avengers Assembled show, glad they finally got it right.

  • I would of like to seen this show get made than the Spiderman cartoon.

  • They played this music in the Captain America First Avenger movie.

It was amazing even thought 99% of everyone who watched the movie did´t know.

  • The sheild looked a little too small to protect the entire body, even in a crouch.

  • WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • Well at least the animation is pretty good.

  • PASEN A MI CANAL Y VEAN EL CINENRREDO DEL CAPITAN AMERICA

  • I bet he does even know how WW2 got started.

  • The only thing I see wrong with that opening is that Cap's shield was too small.

  • @speedbuggy WAAAAAAY to small

  • This looks like it may have been a decent cartoon. Too bad they never made it

  • I didn't particularly like the Sabban cartoon series of X-Men or Spider-Man ... but it looks like they had the right attitude and approach with Captain America. Looks like it would have been a great series. Naturally, it had to die.

  • Captain America is a douch.

  • @zerounite You're a douche

  • @zerounite why? I think you have never read a Captain America comic in your life

  • @zikten lol calm down am just joking ... it was obvious. And no am not a fan of captain america what so ever

  • yay steve rodgers

  • This would had been so cool! I hope with the new Thor & Capt.A movies. Marvel gets some great animation & voice actors to do new cartoons. As well as a new Hulk, Ironman, Antman/Giantman & the Wasp & a Avengers. But they need to bring back those cool corney theme songs up the 1966/67's cartoons updated.

  • Oh, all that corny CGI animations from the 90's.

  • This instead of the hulk

  • That was sweet I realy wish they made

  • What the fuck? They had that Hulk cartoon on Fox Kids' "Marvel Hour" but not this?

  • @nicholascooney

This was being developed around the time Marvel went bankrupt, and they put a hold on all animated projects. I read about this in a magazine way back in 1993 I think, might have been Wizard at the time but I'm not sure, and I was really disappointed when I found out it was being shelved. If anything it would have been nice to see a dozen episodes with Cap and Bucky.

  • @captainalbator Or an animated episode of his origins. lol. Nice too dream though. Looked like great animation.

  • The animation on this looked pretty good! I'm impressed! It's a real shame that Captain America didn't get his due until the most recent cartoon, but it's okay because that show is awesome!

  • Cap's been a model to America. To win use steroids to gain power and beat down terrorist and anarchy.

  • fuck history, this shit happened

  • This was never made because Fox placed too many rules on them. They weren't allowed to show Nazi uniforms, use the word Nazi, show a swastika, or have people get killed. They finally gave up when they realized they'd have to dumb down the show if they wanted it to get aired.

  • There has never been a good Cap cartoon ever.

What are they waiting on ?

  • You don't have to be American to love Cap, he's my favourite hero and I love him because he's an idealist, which is something I understand.

  • I absolutely agree.

I'm from Uruguay and our founding father Jose Artigas always carried a copy of the Constitution signed by Washington with him from wich our Constitution was bassed from.

Ignorants chritizise Cap claiming he's too soft or blind for today but they don't realize what makes a man a hero.

It's not what he does but why he fights for, and Cap fights for people's human rights and liberties.

He's not just a hero but the embodiment of hope, justice and freedom for all the americas.

  • @BurnRoddy completely agree. like superman, captain america is the definition of the word hero.

  • I'm British, yet I wish this was made...

  • WOW i never saw this before, but it should been great!

  • An interesting promo, I would of loved too of seen more episodes of Cap. I like the new Avengers series because Cap is in it. I didn't care much for the earlier Avengers series, It didn't have many of the original members in it. The animation in this promo looks great, I would of collected it on dvd. Maybe with the new movie, they will make a new Cap series, using footage from the promo. Did they have any finished episodes? Just curious.

    Thanks for posting.

    andy

  • @hulkster46a

But with what we see these days, they'll most likely make it a hybrid of CG and Flash. :S

  • It's a shame that Cap only has had 1 cartoon series. The 1960's Marvel Superheroes

toon (yes,I own all of the episodes on dvd)although cheezy has a classic feel to it.I hear they're supposed to come out with a new version to coincide with the release of the movie.I'd definately check it out if it's true.

  • That's a shame, that would've made for a cool cartoon.

  • what is really sad about this project is that toybiz had began development on a toy line for this series. once canceled, they took the 3 prototype figures they had ready and released them through other toy lines of the time. the 1st was a Red Skull figure from the spider-man sneak attack series, 2nd was a Captain America figure with a spark throwing shield in the spider-man electro spark series, last was a toys-r-us exclusive two pack with the same Cap figure, with a better shield, and bucky.

  • @thecaptainrogers1 Intresting, wonder why they didn't do anything for the Silver Surfer serise before it got canceled.

  • @amartinez97 what, you mean like action figures? they did make a silver surfer line. i had some. infact it was the first time characters like thanos, nova, beta ray bill, and adam worlock had figures made of them. look them up. they were pretty awesome for pre-marvel legends figures. in fact the silver surfer line was the first line to really make figures with more than just the basic articulation.

  • @thecaptainrogers1 OH YEAH wow i totaly forgot, lol sorry to sound a bit ignorant. Yeah they did and one of the figures was a 14inch Galactus, dont know why i forgot about it guess i was thimkinga bout too many things at the same time.

  • captain america was kinda made in the way bane was made.

  • Now I would have watched that! Why was it never made?

  • @Phantom1356 well it dont matter now b/c hes on the new avengers series on disney XD and hes new movie coming out this year

  • @goku2520ify I know all that, but it still would have been awesome to have a series then.

  • I had no idea that there was even going to be a show about Cap in the 90's. Pretty cool.

  • @Ponce1390 Fox choose a Captain America series over a proposed Avengers series, but because of Marvel's Bankrupcy in the late 90's, it didn't go anywhere. Such a loss.

Fast forward to 1999 WB makes Batman Beyond, Fox and Marvel respond with Spider-Man Unlimited and Avengers: United We Stand. This Avengers show was PURE crap. They placed them in the future ONLY because 1)To complete with BB and 2)To sell toys with crappy future armor. And wosre of all the Big 3 were missing from the line up.

  • 1:00

*pant pant* Made it just in time for the intro.

  • i don't think this version of Captain America likes girls

  • whoa when did bucky start hittin the weights?

  • G I JOEEEE!

  • @regvision go joeeeeee!

  • The Professor Lizard

    "Spiderman Enviromental vs Wolverine Appocalypse"

Superman was a movie I watched inside my house with 300 you guys to him back to highschool

  • they also made one for ghost rider that never got made

  • that Cap iscompetely ripped from John Byrne's artwork

  • This looks like a good promo, and it would have been a good show, taking place in the WWII time. They even got the look right for the Red Skull. What a shame.

  • Looks like the animators who made the 90's X-Men did this promo.

  • @nubihotepamun Yea I love how they did it, the X-men animators were really ahead of their time. This cartoon would've been promising.

  • I think I'ts obiously from the creators of Spiderman Unlimied. X-Men were not this glowey and full of shades.

  • the artwork actually looks good.

  • I think the Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes people had this video in mind when they did the Cap micro-episodes. At least I like to think so.

  • World of warcraft protection paladin pvp in action.

  • @lmcfalcon12 Maybe Winter Soldier and Red Skull

  • war is too violent and dirty to be made into an animated series....

  • @dangel6667 i'm afraid that statement is somewhat redundant. Ever watch the Spawn animated series? Almost every minute was set in the back alleys of a large city, dirty dark, and every episode had at least one sick drugee, rapist, child molester or arms dealer getting brutally beaten and torn apart after doing similar or worse things to others.

  • @eireronin but it wasnt on cartoon network and rated G

  • @dangel6667 are you saying that just because a cartoon stars a superhero that it has to be kid friendly and on cartoon Network?

  • @eireronin ....after 11 it can be on cartoon network

  • @dangel6667

That's a good point. I've actually never heard anyone express that before...but it's a damn good point.

  • my complaint is that the sheild was waaaaay to small in everyshot

  • @masonTganes totally agree

  • It would've been awesome that Captain America gets his own series on TV in the M.A..U. My dad loved Captain America as a young lad and I would love to watch this series but never made it to the airwaves.

  • They didn't make this, but they greenlit that shitty Avengers cartoon?!

  • First off this were animated series not cartoons, and that Avengers cartoon came out more than a year later. This promo is like from 97 I remember the promos from Fox Kids this was from the days of the first promo of the Magician from Saban.

Marvel was having some tough times when this was greenlit so they made a whole big promo about it but never actually released any episode due their economic problems, I heard they planned like 18 episodes or something.

  • @BurnRoddy I see no difference between a cartoon and an animated series. Same thing if you ask me. And it's a shame that their economic status prevented them from making this. I'm sure it would have been fun.

  • @BurnRoddy Maybe they made some ep's, but they never got aired, eh? And they're sitting on some storage shelf. Maybe they'll appear from out of nowhere a couple months before the movie's released this summer.

  • If this was any other studio I wouldnt have a poblem in accepting there were a few more soundless footage worth an episode or two, In fact acording to what I read a few years ago in a forum I think they made three, but knowing that this is Saban and they would sell their own socks before declaring bankrupcy I doubt there is anything from this era that they have not sold yet.

  • @lmcfalcon12 The Red Skull and Nazis.

  • Comment removed

  • i would love to see a new captain america cartoon.its about time 44 years

  • Looks like they couldn't help mixing a little G.I. JOE into the concept.

  • captain america is the greatest super hero of all time! why? cuz he's american!!

  • Res Skull & Baron Zemo beware! Cap is O.G.

  • Is it just me or does Bucky have an odd-looking mask?

  • @CaptainTooner

Its you, becase thats the mask he wore

  • Captain America was American Hero on WW2. Specially attack to NAZI & Japanes Inperial Army. NIce American Ass-hole Story. Next Invade to Iran?

  • @Gmove02 He never attacked the Japanese Imperial Army. And not all americans are Ass-Holes.

  • @SGallegos97 In 1940, Captain Amrica was wrote to Magazine, before.

  • @Gmove02 captain america doesn't stand for what the u.s. gov does, acording to the comics he's a living symbol of the idea of a free and true country not its gov. if u think about it and actually read the comics about how many times he's gone against the u.s gov. you know he's just symbol of an idea, dumb ass

  • Captain America doesn't fight for the government, but for the dream. He said:

"I'm not loyal to anything, General. Except the DREAM.

  • WHY DIDN'T THEY AIR THIS SHOW!!!!!?????

  • @SGallegos97 Dude you are soooooo right, I'm pissed after seeing this. They need to put this on tv now!!!!!

  • i bet the winter soldier red skull and hitler were the 3 who disliked this vid lol

  • intresting

  • Interesting.

  • It's clear why they didn't go through with this series. Batman TAS this was not. Hopefully the new Avengers earths mightiest heroes will have a less goofy looking Cap.

  • @lmcfalcon12 indeed

  • @lmcfalcon12 it might be modern nazis/jew haters. or not. i was just joking. CAP RULES

  • I'm assuming this never got made because the Cold War actually ended....

  • It's nice, but his shield its a bit small!!

  • I would have loved this show, I know! Who knows, if the Cap movie is a big hit, we may be seeing Cap shows in the future.

  • @Metool2 Don't know about a cap cartoon but avengers earth's mightiest heroes in comin

  • his shield is a wee bit too tiny

  • kool

  • Not really The Legend of Prince Valliant was much for its time but this is close to what they did with Silver Surfer.

Silver Surfer was the last and only animated Marvel show at the time CA came out, the longest Marvel show werea Spiderman and it ended in 1998 and X-Men that ended in 1997, in fact Silver Surfer came and went in 1998, Marvel went bankrupcy and they never carried on Saban's Captain America's show.

  • This would have been an awesome show and it would have been nice to see an animated version of Bucky. Captain America = the standard for Marvel Superheroes. Also did anyone else think the music seemed reminiscent of the A-team theme?

  • I can't wait for the movie!

  • BEst super hero ever.

    AMERICA!!!

  • Damn, I would've watched the hell out of this as a kid. If it got released, that is.

  • lol. bucky. this would have been awesome.

  • maaaan..would have been sweeet!!!!!!!!!!! :O)

  • Wasn't Captain America basically the "good" Bane -- you know, a steroid-enhanced "super-soldier" prototype?

  • @FreedomZealot Nooooo Bane is basically the "evil" Captain America

  • FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!!!!

I WANTED TO WATCH THIS WITH ALL MY GUTS.

They used to air this in early 98 I think during the promos for that year (reruns of The Tick, and The Magician that was pospossed for the next year) this series should've started in May.

CA is my favorite superhero, I used jump on the bed when they aired the shots from the series, the sight of CA and Bucky is printed in my mind.

When The Magician aired next year, I thought they would air CA but they never mentioned it again.

  • At that point they started to buy more and more dirty canadian shit and anime and this kind of animation disappeared, luckly I was able to see The Cap in a dignifying place in TAUTS at least in one episode.

  • I would have watched a couple of episodes, found faults within it and stopped watching it altogether. What up with the frisbee-sized shield?

  • Thx for uploading this. To bad they didn't produced the complete show. It could have been a complex one like X-Men. Through the War with Bucky and later with gueststars like Thor, Ironman etc. in the "modern times". But Nazis or something in that direction could never get through the censorship in Germany. I am from German that why I said that. Oh well thanks again for uploading.

  • Wow.

  • Very cool and ARMIE HAMMER for CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!

  • looks like it would have been good

  • Not bad. The song sucks though....

  • Cartoons in the American Way.

    God Bless America

    Amen.

  • I justed finished carb it was good I'm not going to spoilt it but it had a happy ending go get the gn

  • Damn, that Cap cartoon looked like it had potential. They had Bucky up there too riding with his main man Captain America...,they dropped the ball on this one.

  • I know why i never got made I was supposed to be a half hour saturday morning cartoon on the fox kids network in jan of 98 but marve lwent bankrupt

  • @antdaman1983 I think it also includes that this animation style Saban used, which appeared in their Silver Surfer and Spider-Man unlimited, just wasn't as popular at the time. Also, since those shows were cancelled due to ratings, I think Saban just packed in the Marvel toons.

  • Holy crap ! I didn't know that they ever did any actual animation on this. I'd seen boards and designs but it's cool as hell to see it in motion. It looks as though they took Cap and Bucky and plopped them into G.I. Joe Extreme.

  • well without that stupid marching band music it would've been cool but that music is about military tradition and it seems like that was a sensitive issue at that time because of the war and it looked like this cartoon was trying to profit off the traditions the militarymen's children watching this as bucky and cap take on military bozos of countries already defeated

  • Wow this pretty cool...to bad they Saban never produced this

  • i think i could get into that show to bad it wasn't made

  • It would work better with the A-Team's theme music - try it for yourselves.

  • wow, sweet upload. would've never known about this at all had i not been snooping around Youtube.

    thanks for putting this up!

  • What was the deal with the tiny shield?

  • damn wonder why this never got made u think it would cause captain america is 1 of oldest and staple characters people associated with marvel

  • Really could've used a Captain America.

  • Looks like a rough draft, then again, they used this same type of CGI in 90's IRON MAN series.

...Too bad, might have been an interesting cartoon.
