Well Said. Well done. Love how you speak so clearly and to the point. Yes, I am a fan to of Aliens and Ripley would carry something like this to find and rescue Nuk. LOL!!!
First time I used the Zacuto EVF, the flip portion kept falling off (shooting a music video on a jib). Also, the Zacuto isn't true HD and the SmallHD is. After demo'ing both, I picked the SmallHD (my biggest concern is focus).
@danmillic From what I know, the Z-Finder portion of the kit is guaranteed for life. In other words, if at any point the frame around the Z-Finder gets loose you can easily contact Zacuto and they will replace it for you so that it doesn't fall off. Zacuto offers professional products and part of that is a lifetime warranty on everything they make, except the EVF monitor itself (standard 1 year warranty).
@NiceLadyProductions Regarding "true HD," neither the SmallHD DP4 or Zacuto EVF are HD monitors. They have SD resolution: the same resolution in fact, which is not an issue on such a small screen. The bigger SmallHD monitor, the DP6 is HD 720p, but not the DP4. Both now also support a 1080p signal in and out (in Zacuto's latest firmware update). Thanks for your comments, glad you got to try both before you purchased your EVF. --Cheers.
@Geographic2011 Hi, the SmallHD EVF is $749 plus batteries and a charger. The Zacuto EVF starts at $805 and includes batteries, charger and a case. Lots more info on their websites.
@oceanho3000 glad you found it useful. yes, they are expensive but considering what they can do and how many different cameras you can use them, I've found an EVF invaluable. cheers!
