I can't imagine X Japan without Toshi either. X Japan wouldn't be X Japan without his voice. His voice suits the X Japan songs and emotion, I think Yoshiki knew that when he refused to find his replacement. Toshi and Yoshiki are irreplaceable in X Japan because they're the heart of X Japan.

@userantifa Kyo's voice is totally a different style which won't go along with the songs of X at all. I'm sure this isn't just my own opinion, and I assume Yoshiki would be offended if he read your comment. He wrote all his songs according to the characteristics of Toshi's voice, and he believes only Toshi can express his aesthetics. After Toshi dropped off X in 1997, Yoshiki refused to recruit a new vocalist and thus disbanded X. I can't imagine X without Toshi either.

I still cry listening to this song. It was the song played on the news report of Hide's death. And yes, the song X Japan played in Tsukiji Hongwanji is FOREVER LOVE... I still make the pilgrimage to Tsukiji everytime I go to Japan and leave a note and flowers on his memorial, and when I can, drop flowers and cigs into the water at Santa Monica Pier for hide...

this song WAS and IS call "Longing~togireta melody ". "Without you" is another song written by yoshiki after hide's death, for him. and hide's funeral is NOT set inside a church, but a temple instead. (the song was also not without you, but forever love instead..)

and also, (my opinion) we were not walking away without hide, he is with us all the time, looking apond us, and smiling to us in the sky....so we're not alone...

but i must agreed with you: "we love you "X"....forever....."

This last live took place in 1997, after it they broke up, hense it being called the last live, but they reformed last year with two new songs I.V & Without You, and have done lives a few months ago in march, the drummer/pianist Yoshiki injured his back doing the concerts because he worked too hard beforehand and during the concerts, they're having their next live this month in paris, the start of their world tour, but there's a possibility they're disbanding again after the tour is over.

They weren't famous until 1989, but they officially started in 1982, with only Yoshiki (drummer/pianist) & Toshi (vocalist) as the original members, they had other members for a few years, but then the ones you see in this video replaced them in 1987, also in 1987-89 they were one of the famous amongst bands that were not well known and not featured on tv much.

Btw I'll tell you this now, the lead guitarist Hide, the one with the red jacket and pink hair in this vid died a few months later after this live. In the reunion lives they used guest guitarists & holograms of Hide.

The new song they made when they reunited called "without you" was written for Hide, they played the song live, it was in the making for ten years, Yoshiki was in a serious depression after he died and started the song immediatly, but it didn't have Toshi's vocals until now.

No they started in 1982 but weren't famous until 1989, they're pretty much the Led Zeppelin of Japan.

Continue to research more about them, like why they decided to break up, the band members pasts before the band formed, what they did after 1997 ect.

We don't know wether Hide commited suicide or not, some say he didn't because he had plans and his solo career was going well, but some have researched his past and have found lots of info that would indicate he killed hinmself.
