In my world, Bruce is bisexual, had a brief fling with Harvey Dent, (before he became Two-Face). The Joker, being the crazy clown that he is, is secretly in love with Batman, AND views him as a father figure of sorts. The Joker is also bi, and uses Harley as a sexual release/hired help.

It's been well documented that batman stories particularly when he has one on his little child sidekicks with him has all the undertones of extreme gayness. Frank Miller even described batmans relationship with the joker as a homophobic nightmare and views the character as sublimating his sexual urges into crime fighting. Then goes on to add batman would be much healthier if he were openly gay. Also batman has never shown his past love interests the kind of attention they deserve...i wonder why
