I have to say something here. It was not a spider in your tub. It is what is commonly called a "Daddy Long Legs" or a "Harvestman". Which is actually not a spider at all.

Interestingly this clear example of a Harvestman bug only had 6 legs where normally they have 8.

This could either be the result of a mutation, but more likely it's because this particular bug had a run in with some obstacle where giving up its leg was required for survival. A spider or a tight squeeze can break their legs.
