  • I love this song. He does a great job on it!!

  • I prefer this slower version. Maybe because I first heard it this way. Great job.

  • This song would be so much better if it had both verses written with equal measures. A little bit slow but still not as snail-paced as LRB.

  • You're right, frmert. This song was best when he sang with LRB and Dan Tyminski.

  • Great old song!

  • Sounds Good, Little bit slow though, still good!!!!!!

  • Him and Dan Tyminski used to sing this together and they just NAILLED IT! but now they are seperate and it's just not the same thing.

  • I went to school with Ronnie Bowman and I remember one time we were singing the song about a Swanee river and you could hear water sloshing in the back ground, he will always be my friend.

  • Ronnie Bowman used to play with the bluegrass band called "The Lonesome River Band"

  • did he used to sing with a group

  • @iceaxe56 yes he was with The Lonesome River Band until 2000 I think.

  • atta boy

  • I agree w/ you rockin...nobody sings this like Ronnie Bowman! Thanks for sharing!

  • What an awesome great version of this song. Ronnie's singing and the great picking on it too. A million stars.

  • Thanks! Great! Do you happen to also know the Dobro Player's Name?

  • Sorry....Jimmy Stewart! I totally forgot he played with Ronnie that night. He often plays fiddle with Brooks and Dunn I think.

  • Yup, that's the only way to do it. Excellent! does anyone know who the others are in the band?

  • Garnet Bowman, Ronnie's wife sings harmony, Donica Christianson is on banjo, Daren Shumaker on mandolin, and Greg Martin on bass.

  • This has got to be my most favorite bluegrass song of all time... nobody does it like Ronnie! I'd like to have Garnet's job.. this song is so fun to sing back up on... I think she did a great job! Thanks for putting the video out there on youtube.

  • that makes you wana bite the head off a bottle of crown royal!!! awesome!!!

  • I don't care if there is drunks there, the music is great. Anybody that has performed in a bar can exspect it. You all did very good.

    GREAT JOB!!!!

    5 STARS ALL THE WAY!!!

    Curt

  • I have to agree johnnybub!!

  • I agree with RJR-- NO ONE can do this song like Ronnie. Of course, that's only one of MANY songs that only RB should do! :)

  • P.S. Why is it there is always a drunk guy in the crowd who wants to sing at the top of his lungs and drown out the very singing we all are there to enjoy? I still vote for a bouncer at SI!

  • You have, of course heard Jimmy Martin's version, right? RB does a fantastic job with this old tune, no doubt, but how about some love for the king.

  • I have heard Jimmy's version and he, like Lester Flatt, & Bill Monroe, is indeed untouchable due to the legacies they left on bluegrass music. But for this song, I just think Ronnie's voice is smooth enough to melt butter! BUT no body would no anything about this tune without Jimmy, so yes major props and love for him. He is indeed one of my favs especially when JD was with him!

  • Only one word can describe this...AWESOME!!!

  • ronnie has the most soulful voice in bluegrass!
