@dulCISSIMA1 Precisely, this sloooooooooooooooow motion feeling, the whole performance is like this, no feeling at all, just a slow and boring performance of a great, GREAT, a masterpiece work from Bach.
@FreeGoa4All She smiles, because this is a technique which helps singers to "lock" the position of the sound in the cheeks. Comments like starbreez3's "she's anti-christ" are just totally ignorant and silly.
@myroseaccount Thank you. I'd love to claim that for my my own but I heard it on BBC Radio 3. I agree with the thrust of what you say about the greatest composers but I dabble in composition myself and if I ever wrote anything considered fit for the ears of the angels I would be one content man.I think the "God"accolade only belongs to Bach and perhaps a small few of the Renaissance composers, Morales, Gombert and "El Cantor de Maria" Guerrero perhaps.
Karl Richter war der beste! Auch in der Auswahl der Sänger/innen.

Du liebes Herz ( a loving heart) is over the suffering. That is the message of Jesus. The singer understand the message.

You can't do it faster. The text is about blood and pain. Not romantic. Not better if faster.

@alipitogen A very poignant statement, and one that without doubt defines the very greatest composers!

Julia Hamari is absolutely amazing.
Maestro Richter had his own superb way to play Bach. I don't care much about 'historical versions'.

Yes, Julia Hamari is ALSO absolutely amazing. Except that this is Helen Donath.

Wow. What a soprano. The depth of passion in the appoggiatura at 1:31 just doubled my goosebumps from this masterpiece.

Oh she would. Lots of sopranos down at music college..
If you can make a start and go to at least 50/hr you are at least like her childhood environment. Certificate/experience.
