Use the P.E.Op.S. SPU2 sound plugin and set it for best trebble. And for speed Go to Config>CPU>all boxes ticked and VU skip selected.

It's weird a few can run MGS3 just fine and some with more powerful hardware cant run it at all. My advise to you is use the beta version as it has worked out better but not 100% for me.

Use speedhacks and up the cycle rate and/or use frame skip under CPU config. Sometimes even choosing a different bios or graphic plugin makes a speed difference. Just fiddle around with it.

pixel shader is something your graphics card uses to play games. the only solution is to buy a new graphics card. you can pick up pretty decent ones like an ati radeon hd 4670 for around 120-150 which has pixel shader 4.1
