I went to Giants Stadium In New Jersey show two weeks before this one. Greatest concert I've ever seen. The Cure were on fire in 1989. I was 14 years old. Its all been downhill from theer in the live music department but I'm thrilled to be lucky enough to attend such an insane concert. They played everything.
I was there. Floor, 9 rows deep. This was 8 September 1989, my 21st birthday. I was one of the many that rushed the stage. Greatest concert I've ever attended. Greatest band ever. Ever.
Amazing! I was there -a teenager at the time and a die-hard fan. I also remember those bells :) Thank you for this incredible memory from one of the best concerts and most beloved bands ever!!! They are coming back to LA next month and if for some reason I miss out it won't matter because Dodger Stadium 1989 can't be topped!
Friday, September 8, 1989. Oren & I went to this " Prayer Tour" show. A few friends of Oren's were there as well with us. The sound system mostly sucked and we were sitting quite far away from the stage.
Other bands that opened for Robert & Co. included Love & Rockets, the Pixies, and Shelly
Ane Orphan. I still have the "After Market" unofficial T-shirt we bought during the long wait waiting to get out of the parking lot after the show.
People were throwing glass bottles cause the seating in the bleachers SUCKED !! Dodger statdium has the WORST seating for a concert. The Ticket sellers did a horrible job. I could go on as to why but it would very long.
I was at this concert.It was amazing.Yes,you're right about the crowd rushing to the stage.I was in the section right behind the floor seats and somehow ended in the mele.I could almost hear my ribs crashing from the wave of people.But then I met a kind stranger who lifted me to safety and it was all perfect again.Much like when Robert Smith sings.:).
I was there as...about three rows from the front of the floor when chaos hit and everyone flooded forward and my friend and I were kicked out of the section (we didn't have the wristbands necessary to be that close. We were actually in the section of the floor behind the first section)
we were at the edge of the first level, and for like forty-five minutes, it rained toilet paper, food, drinks, bottles and paper products on us from above. still one of the best times i ever had. i saw them last tim round at the hollywood bowl from great seats, and it just wasn't the same. great, but just not the same.
Yeah - we were seated ground level a few rows behind home plate and watched as people dumped cokes and food from the upper bleachers to the crowds below.....glad we were far enough away from the meleau. But was a memorable concert.
OMG! One of the best concerts of my life! I was right in front for a while but then almost fainted from all the people pushing trying to be in front when Love & Rockets went on. My friend grabbed me and I ended up a few rows back. I can still see Daniel falling to the ground playing his harmonica. What a amazing lineup! The friggin' Pixies, Love & Rockets, & The Cure! I will never forget that night...I never wanted it to end. Thank you so much for posting this. Brought back so many memories....

I remember when they shut off the lights and people from the upper seats started throwing glass bottles down into the lower levels...and we all had to hide under the fold down seats to avoid getting a bottle to the head. And then when the first chord of Plainsong hit and the lights blared....oh...concert magic. It's was so awesome! I still have very fond memories of that concert. Very, very fond memories.
I WAS FUCKING THERE! This was my first concert, I was 12 years old. Wow! This had a great line-up, The Pixies opened followed by none other than LOVE & ROCKETS! I still have my shirt that I bought from this concert and the of the shirt reads, "The Prayer Tour 1989". What a great memory, thanks a million for posting it, wish you had more.
A.) Dodgers Stadium doesn't hold 75,000 people. Even for a concert.
B.) The place looks half empty to me, so even if it did hold that many, there aren't that many there.
C.) I saw them 2 week earlier in Massachusetts in front of 20,000 screaming fans.....greatest concert I've ever been too.

THE PIXIES + LOVE & ROCKETS + THE CURE !!!!! ( in that order)
We were so spoiled that day. And every concert has pailed in comparison to this.
