Lay down, roll your eyes back, drift into another world, listen to this song word for word... you will see Layne stood there with smile on his face, hes finally found peace.... god rest his soul.. hell we miss you.... all of us...
everybody whos like me are layne fanatics and wanna learn smth more abt this beautiful person i just finished reading 2 books: grunge is dead and everybody loves our town theres a lot af interviews there with jerry, sean, both of mikes and other laynes friends and family trust me you can learn a lot abt layne from this book and i found them online for free:) pls thumbs this up so ppl will see
Passed members of bands as Layne, Morrison-they live in their music. Its almost eery, they seep from my speakers causing me to look around searching for something there. Some times through frightening lyrics, but from kind souls who in life were lost, yet are found in their deaths..
Pretty fuckin sad Jerry shunned him away from the band because of addiction without Layne there would have been no AIC!!! What a piece of shit! Remember where u come from Cantrel or ll who fuckin cares! Lie in the bed u made Jerry and every night b4 u sleep thank Layne for making u who u are!!!
@lsouhrada So you were there? You've met Jerry? This band imploded, they all had their own substance problems, and the center could not hold, that was their demise. This according to my brother, who was Jerry's tech 1992-94.
I love this song. I listen to Mad Season Above and Old AIC Tunes (Layne being the vocalist). His music and lyrics are deep within the soul. I am not a drug user his music/lyrics applies to other areas in my life. I feel him thru his music. I feel his emotions. I miss him I wish I had known him, I love a man that has touched me in all ways and he's not here anymore and I greive.
Beautifully sad song. So full of pain and uncertainty if there are any reliable places to put hope. The song is sung from the depths of a hole where most is black and the light above seems too far away to ever reach. So much talent, so much feeling for where music can take you and the prelude to a tragic, tragic death. RIP Layne and that those who remain may make the best of each day and find a firm hook to hang hope upon. Johnny Cash found it, and once it's found it changes the tone of all.
At my brothers funeral, his 2 year old son was present. He walked, all by himself up to the casket, pointed to it, and looked back at us. We couldnt say anything. He looked back at his dad, screamed. "Daddy! Daddy! Wake up!" This is my first time hearing this song, but I've heard it 11/4/2009. Thank you so much.
Back in 99, just after my father had died from years of alcohol abuse, we played this at his funeral. Was one of his favorite songs. Everytime I listen to this, I can still perfectly visualize the room, every tiny little detail, the roses outside...
I LOVE mad season. Big fan or else why would I be looking at this vid...but the word "grunge" and the music it describes it exactly NOT what Mad Season, AIC, or Layne is about. Grunge is a lame term to group together alot of really great bands/music. There's your education. your welcome.
@punkiejunkie1000 i agree that this song and mad season in general is not grunge but AIC is EXACTLY grunge. and i also agree that it groups together really great band/music. it is definitely not a lame term and it is one of the greatest genres of music.
omg i want to fucking cry i love this song so much, layne kicks ass to this day man. it's haunting. i'm just so pissed that i never got to experience this amazing-ness live. RAAAWWWRRRR! i'm mad now.
This entire album brings back some crazy ass memories of "long gone days." Lanyne Staley was great at his time and place which touched the souls of many people. You are greatly missed.
I can't believe that tomorrow is 9 years since Layne died.I just can't believe it.Its so sad, although thanks to His Music he lives on forever in my heart & in everyone who misses him & his music.I think they announced his death on April 20th,however they determined his D.O.D. was April 5th.Its SAD that he layed there for 2 weeks while his bandmate from AIC came to his place & knocked & on the door & drew attention to the fact that he hadn't responded to calls or door all this time! RIP Layne <3
Yeah, that's right. :D I totally agree. There are lots of arguments over the internet about who "is" Alice in Chains, Layne or Jerry, lot of worthless guesswork and so on - that's why I asked.
@Eifler121...It was both of them together, but without Layne there not the same...Layne had an epic pair of lungs and amazing lyrics...But together, Jerry would harmonize over Laynes power and it almost sounded like on AMAZING voice
ÁÁÁÁHHHH! fantasztikus, több éve hallgatom és a mai napig megborzongat minden egyes sora, nagyon mélyről jön mégis kívülről, hámoz rétegről rétegre mint egy hagymát :)
2:25 = incredible mind-numbing range. Layne is so missed by so many. Even if he never sang another note, His fans wish he were still down here with us mortals. RIP Angry Angel
Damn...If only I had to chance to see Mad Season perform this live! This is by far the GREATEST song I've ever heard! Just to hear the pain and realism in Layne's voice of living the life makes this song uncomparable to anything that's out there! R.I.P. Layne & John!
Not only one of the best songs ever but this whole album is one of my all time favorites if not is my favorite of all time. Not often you can buy an album and love every song on it and listen to it over and over again and still love it. It's such a shame Layne is gone and won't be able to make another masterpiece like this one again.
