There's supposed to be an extreemely rare one that only 5 were ever made. They were still relesed in 2007, but it was made of all solid gold, unlike this ripoff. I expect they were placed into the newer death star that was put out the same year. I also think it was only available at the Lego store so they didn't lose money from the fully solid gold and the company didn't lose money. I wish I had one!!!!!!!

all right here is the story to these things ok i probably believe you on the 10,000 of them cus i didnt find solid proof on that but i do know that they were placed in random lego star wars sets in 2007 there are the metallic gold and the rarest were the 14K gold ones but i thing u got the metalic cus of the color of "neck " wen u take off the head.now the thing that got me worried was u posted this in 2009 but there were two battle packs and a darth maul set in 2007 so i wondered wen u bot it?

the chrome darth vaders come in battle packs the new golden c 3p0's are rare figures which aren't sold anymore or in any lego sets. there a promotional figure like the luke in lego star wars the visual dictionary
