Han är så underbart bra! Lloyd Price, just denna låt **Just Because***, jag får gåshud när jag hör den, fast att det är så många år sedan den kom ut, denna musik kan dom inte göra idag!!!
Cool to find and hear this original version. Right on the money. Ah, how true these were more innocent days back then, and the groups and their recordings were so real and honest with no electronic gimmickry. Freddy Fender did a nice cover of this song too, and guitars played the instrumental section that the horns play here on this cut.
Hm, calwaite, listen again to early Lennon & McCartney covers of r&b rockers and you'll hear just enough passion to move mountains. They're not originals, right, but they don't lack in persuasion one bit.
Use to be into that whole Vintage rockabilly scene and Oldies always seemed to hit home base when it came into my music of interest. I can Recall tons of nights just taking random cruises with my mom (RIP) BLARING this song and many others full blast those days are gone but the music will last a life time as will the memories.
I grew up in the late 50's and 60' and I will tell you for a fact that most of The Beatles music..................you couldn't dance to since they didn't have a dance veat.
Still American rock and R& B of that era still sounds fabulous. Play a Chuck Berry or Beach Boys record and you could dance your ass off to them, slow or fast.
Try dancing to "Michelle" or "Norwegian Woods"....or most Beatles songs. Great to listen to them but couldn't dance to them although Get Back is great.
I grew up in the hills of w.va and would go ove to hear the people sing this song in a black neighbor hood--we were friends then and still are --They played at our high school dance and were great--Lots of lloyd Price's songs--Chuch Berry and Little Richard---Their band was called the dynomiters---athey were great
@pennridgeboy It's because you live in a modern day music that they can't find music like this. And you have to do remakes . Let her enjoy her memories in peace.
OMG I remember my bro having these song's! I was a little girl and he belonged to a car club. The whole car club would come over and play all these song's. WOW time flies.
I was around 9, hanging with my cousin and her 14 year old friends listening to Lloyd Price. Then they would go to the record shop where they could play a record in a booth to decide if they were going to buy it. I don't remember if that was the still 79 rpm or if 45s had hit yet
It was good times and even greater music, Looks like this whole album ROCKS!!!
For you ignorant racists the correct term would be Black American Music not "Nigger" pull your heads out of your butts. Amazing how you people are so racist towards us but you brag about how you love our music. You both are just pure evil. It is sad. God bless both of you.
@emb1st Back in the day that would have been a hellava shot, since he planned it that way! haha. I miss the old days and swore I would never say that!
This pic was taken at the Upholstery shop on Olympic Blvd near McBride in East LA back in the early 80's. Those Chola's in the back of the truck have got to be grandma's by now. That upholstery shop is still there though kicking.
Please don't compare different era music, because the times were different. As for me I can listen to this music, but after awhile I have to turn it off. You see it hurts to much I can not bring back the past. Every time I listen I start grieving again. I dislike the last twenty year's because of all that has occured. But I can not change it on the whole. So all I can do is try to adapt to it. Also try to find some thing good.
@txswinterry65 This song was played in the movie Peggy sue got married, but not at the class reunion. It was played at the party in one of the characters basement in his home.
iam 67 yrs old and I am enjoying some music that i didnt care when i was 16 but the sound bring me memories and i learned to like them. even the Beatles , so dont put anybody down when the right time comes u will enjoy it maybe even Rap who know....orale
I am 34 and this is my mummies fav song. I know I will not hve her for long. But it is a wonderful feeling that she knows ---- I LOVE THIS SONG ALSO W HER IN THE PRESENT AND THE PAST*** I LOVE YOU MOMMIE*
I couldn't agree more, Shane. I was in high school when the Beatles hit it big, and have never bought a Beatles' song in my life. Not a single ounce of passion or soul in their voices, although a couple of their later songs, like Let It Be and Yesterday are good songs....when the Temptations sang them on the Flip Wilson show. Justg stunning how REAL voices can make a song like those into masterpieces.
Are you saying that the Beatles had no passion in their voices? Wow ...another one .. The Beatles were white and you're comparing them with black artists? It's a different way of feeling the music. REAL voices doesn't explain anything musically. The BEatles were original in the way they used their vocal arrangements. You can;t compare Stevie Wonder with John Denver ...they have totally different vocal styles. In the end, you dont have a clue of what you're saying.
@JohnLennon100 yes, I'm saying the Beatles' voices were pop voices, with no gut wrenching, passion-soaked feeling to them, unless you were high on weed or whatever when you listened, and then of course you'd think they were the greatest group ever.
@calwaite I agree The Beatles had more of a bubblegum sound. They had some good songs, but never one made me cry or give me chills. A song can do that well that's a great song, and one hell of an artist.
@SweetBabeLovinGH My point EXACTLY, SweetBAbe! Passionate vocals and songs can make tears well up in your eyes, can make you cry and/or give you chills, and the Beatles (and other British groups) rarely put out a song that did that. Neither did any of the metal groups, or losers like Axl Rose or Ozzy Osbourne or Kiss or Def Leppard or Bruce Springsteen or Madonna or any rappers or Gwen Stefani....you get the picture...just noise and fluff.
@txswinterry65 A beautiful song, and sung beautifully til the last 90 seconds when he started screaming and hollering the lyric, trying to sound passionate, but failing miserably. Gary Brooker (or is it Michael Brooker?) of Procol Harum, a white singer with a voice way better than Lennon's, would tear this song up. John wrote some great songs, but was just an average singer. Kind of like that no-singing Bob Dylan, who also wrote some great songs.
@calwaite So you think you're very brave because you never bought a Beatles' record or you consider them mediocre against the black music of the 60's? You brag about fine vocals and everything .... well, that's your particular subjective biased opinion and I don't really care. I don't think any of us who like the BEatles would ever care about someone like you who certainly can't understand their legacy to world's music.
@JohnLennon100 Whoa! I didn't say they couldn't sing, and I know and understand their legacy to the world's music, since they are my age. But they were "pop" artists, and as such shouldn't be mentioned in discussions about a Lloyd Price song, or any other soul or R&B song. Lennon wrote many enduring and brilliant songs, but their vocals were bubblegum for the most part. Wish I had their money, of course!
@calwaite "Bubblegum"??? I don't think so and I don't think you know a whole helluva lot about the Beatles music, or for that fact.....music, in general.
@calwaite That is utter rubbish. If you personally don't like the Beatles, fine. I'm 23 and used to meeting people who don't like the beatles But to say they had no soul? Come on?! Paul sang with everything he had on Long tall sally. Yeah, he couldn't match Little Richard, but that's not what soul is. Soul is singing with everything you got. I don't understand why people have to put one group down to compliment another....
Wow ... you really hate the BEatles ... it's cool man, chill out ...not everybody has the same taste ...or good taste I would say .... Lennon's version is more polished, better sung, better produced because it was a modern version in 1975 ...even this guy is out key in different occasions ...
the beatles have probably sold more records than any music artist in history. they were ahead of their time and paved the way for future performers. they definitely weren "not" overrated.

Y'all should get a move on and post the "forgotten'" Price classics, like his rendition of the immortal Bobby Darin's "Splish, Slash", and "Hooked on a Feeling". I can't think of anyone else other than Llyod do justice to the music o that that erstwhile civil rights warrior\poet\singer\romatic, Mr Walen Robert Cassotto. And no one can sing it better for the Price like Mr. Lloyd! Remember, children, when you see him perform, it's for you and I!

No problem. It's still a cool old song...lots of memories. I commented because I never did understand how they associated some of these cover pics with the music. :p

Hey, all you supposed Lloyd Price fans:
Y'all should get a move on and post the "forgotten'" Price classics, like his rendition of the immortal Bobby Darin's "Splish, Slash", and "Hooked on a Feeling". I can't think of anyone else other than Llyod do justice to the music o that that erstwhile civil rights warrior\poet\singer\romatic, Mr Walen Robert Cassotto. And no one can sing it better for the Price like Mr. Lloyd! Remember, children, when you see him perform, it's for you and I!
