Thank's, that was a gret review even with the small amp. You played some of the sounds as well and that was cool, but however I would go with what mikhail2741 said about the Alesis DM-10, such a nice unit, a little more for the buc but worth it. You get super great real sounding drums that will blow you away.. Thank's for such a great review rockstar.
Hey guys, THIS IS NOT A SCAM. I'm selling my simmons sd7pk kit with everything and plus I'm throwing in some free items with it. Its a great deal and if your interested, please contact me by email. Ill give you the ebay link and everything. PLEASE GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT IF YOU WANT TO BUY A GOOD ELECTRONIC DRUM SET. my email is theconsumer1@gmail.com
Ok I didn't want to but it's too good to pass up... "from behind"... probably the only time he'll ever get to say those words. Sorry bro, I had to but hey at least I'm not hating on your drum kit!
I'm sure harmonykills was just excited to have a drumkit to practice on, but trust drummers who've played for years on both electronic and acoustic kits - the simmons is a waste of $. the sounds are sub-par, some of them my cell phone emulates better; the feel and playability is crap, and the kick-pad is a joke; the cymbal samples are absolute shit, you might as well forget about dynamics.. i could go on but you get it. just save a few extra hundred bucks and buy a used Roland V-kit or YamahaDTX
hey i hav this kit and the big 11" floor tom and snare r shit! but other than that i really do like the kit, its my 1st kit and some tips on how to get the best sound from it would be very useful, thanks!!!
hey i hav this kit and the big 11" tom and snare r shit, very unresponsive. but other than that i really do like the kit, any tips on how to get the best sound from it would be very useful thanks!!!
don't buy this kit, my went unresponsive after 2 months of playing, I had to replace the kick pad 5 times. I returned it and got my 1000 dollars back and for 400 dollars more i upgraded to the Roland TD 4X, all mesh heads top of the line, simmons drums suck.
I've been playing my SD7K for about 2 years now. I have had to fix the hair thick wires in one cymbal twice. They do start to crack the inner supports for the screws on the cymbals. For what it is and what it has done for me... I love it. When this breaks again... I'll just pony up for the new SD9K. Dollar for dollar... it's been great. Hard to get replacement parts... but so worth the 500.00 spent. 2 years of beating this thing... and it STILL works. I DO recommend this kit!
it deos mistrigger fairly often, and the ride that came with my kit stopped working well after about a week. kind of dissapointing, but its under warrenty still.
nah on my acoustic i dont have a problem. but i got it working now, i just had to move the beaters closer to the center and make sure they were spaced evenly compared to the middle
i have this drum set, and I have had to replace the kick pad twice, a tom, and two cymbals. I wouldn't recomend this set to anyone. Its a piece of junk!
@hager999 yeah simmons says they are coming out with a new bass pad. So they wont send me another until they make them. I cant believe I bought this piece of shit
@Jetsen6 What brand would you rather have gotten? I'm looking to get one, but not one of these $1000 ones. I know Roland is the best supposedly, but for around $500-$600 what would you get if SImmons isn't great like you stated? Alesis?
I understand if you put this as spam but you can get this kit REALLY cheap on thomann. If youre interested for an E-kit they have really cheap kits. have a look!
looks similar to the sd7k. but 1 extra tum and 1 extra crash. not sure how much just the set it. again though i believe you can by thebrain later and then the extra pieces later as you get money. the brain looks way better too lol. probably has more options as well. kinda like the sd5k to the sd7k the main differance was the brain and the 7k had way more options.
I would just save up and get a yamaha dtxplorer or maybe even a roland td4 even though its alot more expensive , if you wanna stay under the range a DD502/506 Would be a better choice alot more features for less and just a bit more depending on witch package you get.
socceydude, yes you can choke the cymbals on this set. I own this set also. Like it ok but for the price you can get a better than average acoustic set. Electronic sets are more for a bedroom, home recording artist. It's kind of like the difference between a tube amp and a Lin6 amp. Very artificial sounding.
Yeah, I hear ya bro. Just thought I would let you know. I have both and I immediately noticed the limitations of these kinds of electronic sets vs acoustic sets. But hey, acoustic sets are loud and can cause problems. Don't get me wrong, these electronic drums are ok and I use mine but nothing can ever replace an acoustic drum sound. Cheers!
hey harmony. i go the kit too and really enjoy it. i like your review. i still need to learn alot on the kit. have you been able to get the actual user manual on it? i haven't been able to get one.
is the legs on the set straight ? i just bought the 7pk but one of my legs was not straight so am going to get the return it for sd9 thanks for the review.
I'm assuming this kid has spent zero time on editing his kit sounds. They sound dry and cheesy. I have the same kit.....dude spent some time adding apropreate reverb and panning and experiment with what type of each drum you like....
Nice review! I really want this kit! Ive played it 2 hours straight at guitar center today. I just need the money for it. I hope that day will come soon. I really love how it has 4 toms. : )
Those pads ... cymbals, bass, and drums just sound like you're hitting hard plastic. I'm glad you like your kit but I wouldn't spend even $50 for them. It's Roland all the way for me, baby. :-)
I'll have to check out your music videos, though. Peace.

yo im thinking about learning the drums, cuz i already play the guitar (check out my alesana cover)
anyways im gonna buy an sd7k
but which pedal should i buy?
i'd prefer a double bass drum peddle, but a single would be fine i guess
since its my first kit (and probably my last, im probably just gonna end up doing this for fun) i don't want to spend too much money.
100 dollars or less would be preferable.
or u could just tell me what u use...
